Nasty Habits

"Sexy Sadie, can you do us a huge favor?" Nikki asked, rushing over.

"Sure, what's up?"

"Can you help with the merch table?"

"Yeah, no problem," I said.

"Thank you," he said, kissing me on the forehead. " We have to set up our shit, so we'll be just around the corner if you need us."

"Okay. Are you guys sound-checking or just setting up?"

"Uh, it's a bit of both," he said, rubbing his arm.

I then remembered the marks.

"Hey, Nikki?"

"Yeah?"

"You're okay, aren't you?"

"Of course, silly," he said, ruffling my hair. He squeezed my cheeks and pulled me into a kiss before disappearing to retrieve his bass. When he reappeared a few minutes later, he was carrying his Thunderbird, and blew me a kiss.

I blew one back as I headed over to where the boxes were being kept, trying not to trip over my own feet.

There were seventeen boxes, most of which just needed to sit under the table as back ups. As I began to carry them over to the table, I could hear Nikki plug in his bass and play around with the tuning. I smiled at the sound and stuck a milk crate under the table, which I would later fill with posters.

"Hey," a voice cooed moments later.

Looking up, I rolled my eyes, not answering him.

"I said, 'hey.' Didn't you hear me?" he asked.

I huffed, annoyed. "Go away, Ax-hole."

"Sadie Michelle, please, hear me out. What happened that night-"

"Wasn't supposed to happen, I know. You said so yourself. I don't want to hear anything you have to say," I said, carrying a box of t-shirts.

"Sadie Michelle-"

"Only my friends can call me that."

He looked like he had been slapped- he was surprised to say the least.

"The hell does that mean?"

"It means that we're not friends," I said simply, setting the box down on the merch table. "Easy concept."

As I cut the tape on the box open, I could see Axl step around the table.

"You're not allowed back here, sorry."

"I don't care. I'm in the opening act; I'm drawing attention to your little booth thingy."

"See, but you're really not. No one's here; the doors don't open for over an hour. Move," I said as I brushed past him to retrieve another box.

He attempted to take the box from me, "I got it-"

"Nope, I'm fine," I said, whisking around him.

"Why are you being so short with me?"

"Because I have nothing nice to say to you."

"Well, that's cold."

"Well then it's a good thing you have Carmen to keep you warm," I snapped, placing this box beside the previous.

"Sadie, please, just talk to me!"

"No."

"Seriously?"

"Yup."

"What is your problem?"

"You; You lied, cheated, and then tried to play it off. Now, fuck off before I complain to Nikki," I shouted over Tommy's drums.

"He doesn't scare me."

"Well, he should."

Pulling the milk crate from under the table, I began to fill it with rolled up Mötley posters, smacking Axl's hand away when he tried to unroll one.

"Yet, he doesn't," he said, trying to be cute.

"Yeah, that's why your mouth looks like that. Split that lip yourself?" I asked sarcastically.

"Hm, you could say that. Nikki's got a real mean streak and I don't trust him around you."

"He's not the one to worry about," I said, although he continued as if I hadn't spoken.

"I think he's got mommy issues."

"Well then, that would make two of us."

"Just sayin'."

"And I didn't ask."

"Don't be rude."

"Then go away!" I hissed, exasperated.

"No; I want you to know that I'm always here for you."

I ignored him, hoping that he would realize that he was being an idiot. I could see him become impatient out of the corner of my eye.

"You're upset," he stated.

"Oh, wow! Did you figure that out by yourself, or did Duff have to tell you?" I said as I slipped past him again.

"What the hell is that supposed to mean?"

"What do you think it means? You did the one thing you promised me you wouldn't do; you lied to me and used me- you wasted my time. And do you want to know something funny? I'm not even mad anymore."

I grabbed a third box, which was heavier than the previous two combined; it must have had the limited tour edition jackets in it.

Axl raised his eyebrows and opened his mouth, attempting to speak when I cut him off.

"By the way, I had sex with Taime... twice. Once at the club that night and again the night that Faster Pussycat saw the show. I feel like we're still not even, but again, I'm over it."

"You did what?!"

"I took advantage of your one free pass, but I decided to make it worth two," I spat. "Now move! This box is getting heavy."

"Here, let me take it-"

"Don't touch me or the fucking box. Do me a favor, and go back to your bus. I'm sure the Mötleys won't enjoy seeing you here."

"Is that a threat? Because if it is, I'm not scared."

"Take it how you want to, Axl. I literally do. Not. Care. Move."

"No," he said simply, stepping in front of me again.

"I will drop this on you, I'm not messing around."

I could feel my nerves frying. I was getting angrier by the second and he still wouldn't move, and I was more than ready to drop kick him to the moon.

"No you won't," he sneered. "Ya know what, fuck this," said. He grabbed me roughly around my waist, causing sharp pains to shoot through my ribs, and forcefully pressed his lips against mine, all while leaning over the box in front of us (which was also pressing into my ribs).

"Get off of me! Get off," I shouted against his lips. When he didn't listen, I dropped the box on his foot and bit his already split lip, causing him to snap back in shock as he began to bleed once again.

"What the fuck, Sadie?!" he screeched as he pulled his foot from under the box and took a step back.

"Leave me alone, you nasty son of a bitch! "

"And what if I don't wanna?" he shot back.

Bristling, I stepped closer to him. "I can get you kicked off of this tour so fast your fucking head will spin. Don't. Fuck. With. Me," I said through gritted teeth.

I snatched the box up off of the ground and set to putting things on display around the booth, shaking with anxious rage.

"You're fucking crazy, Sadie Michelle," he said with a smirk, his lip still bleeding heavily.

"I told you not to call me that, now, get out of my fucking way!" I screamed.

His eyes widened and his bloody smirk dropped... He had finally realized that I was serious.

Neither of us had noticed that the music had stopped until we heard running footsteps, followed by Nikki and Tommy's voices.

"Sadie, what's going on? Oh..." Tommy and Nikki froze, Nikki looking like a wild dog about to attack.

"You're serious then?" Axl whispered.

"Very. Now, please, go away," I hissed through gritted teeth.

"Rose, what did I tell you?!" Nikki yelled.

"It's fine Nikki, he was just leaving."

"Yeah," Axl said quietly as he turned to walk away.

When he was gone, I felt Nikki's arms wrap around me.

"You okay?" he asked quietly.

"Yeah."

"Your ribs?"

"Fine," I whispered.

"Good... Let's go," he said, throwing me over his shoulder.

"Hey! Where are we going?" I asked, trying to straighten my back so I could look up.

"Sound check. Andy," he said, snapping his fingers, "you're on merch duty. Finish what she started," he called to one of the roadies.

"You got it."

Nikki set me down beside his spot on the stage and walked over, retrieving his bass once again.

"What happened?" Mick said in to a mic.

"Nothing. Just the ginger bitch," Tommy said as he climbed up to his drum kit.

"He's gonna get fucked up," Mick said, shaking his head.

"Yeah, he is," Nikki said.

"Well, boys," Vince said, attempting to break the awkward tension, "should we run through 'Wild Side'?"

"Yeah. Let's do it," Mick said.

"Alright. Emi, Donna, are you guys ready?" Vince called to the backup singers.

"Just a second, Vince," Donna called back.

She whispered something into Emi's ear, causing her to nod excitedly.

"We have a suggestion real quick," Emi piped up.

"Lay it on me, honey," Vince said.

"Well... we know about this whole thing with Sadie and Axl, and we were thinking..."

"What were you thinking?" I asked, skeptical that they could come up with anything helpful.

"Yeah, what are you two thinking?" Nikki asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Well, you wanna keep her safe during the show, right, Nikki?" Donna asked.

"Uh-huh," he answered, wiping his nose.

"Well, how about we make the Nasty Habits a trio for the night?"

I felt my heart drop through the stage. No way. No fucking way. I wasn't nearly as beautiful as those girls, and on top of that, I had stage fright; being on stage at a sold out show... nope.

"I mean, why not? She'll be with us; we'll keep an eye on her when you can't, and you'll know she's on stage so you don't have to worry about her," Donna said.

Nikki looked at me, contemplating their words. I had a faint spark of hope that he would say no when he looked away, but that spark was soon put out, as he looked back and was nodding slightly.

"Nikki, no. I know that face. I can't."

"Why not? It's not like you don't know the dances or the songs. You'll be fine. I think you should do it;  it's a good option."

"Nikki, please, no," I whispered.

"Why not?" he asked quietly.

"I have stage fright, you know that."

"I did not know that, actually. Just do it for one night," he said a little louder. "Just to make sure weasel boy stays away from you. Please," he begged, growing quiet again, "I just want to make sure you're safe. I don't want another repeat of what happened before."

"I- look Nikki, I don't think I can... It's-"

"I know you can. You're brave enough. You know Emi and Donna love you, and you guys get along great. Just go for it."

"I..." I swallowed hard, contemplating his words.

Maybe he was right. It seemed like once I did something, it no longer bothered me. I was comfortable with Donna and Emi, and I would be out of the clutches of Axl... every one wins.

"Fine. Just for tonight," I said.

"Thank you," he said sincerely, hugging me tight. He gave Emi and Donna a thumbs up, "She's all yours ladies." As I walked over to them, I felt Nikki smack my ass.

"Ow!" I called to him, shaking my head as I continued over to the girls' platform.

"Alright, Sadie!" Emi cheered.

"Welcome to the Nasty Habits, babe," Donna said, high-fiving me.

"Thanks, girls. I, uh, I have one itty-bitty problem," I whispered.

"Stage fright?" Emi asked quietly.

I nodded, slightly embarrassed.

"Don't worry about it; after the first song you loosen up. It just becomes fun," Donna chirped happily. "You're gonna love it."

"Yeah, don't be shy," Emi said, "it's like dancing in front of a mirror, it's just choreographed a little. By the way, you should probably stand in the middle, because you're the only brunette," she said, shimming me over to the center.

"We'll get you a third mic stand later, so just improvise," Vince said. "Come on, girls, let's do this!"

As Tommy counted us off, I felt a spark of excitement shoot through me. I was nervous, but I was also excited, and it wasn't even show time.

"Oh, can I do your hair?" Donna asked.

"No, let me do it, please," Emi begged.

"Ladies, if you're gonna argue, I'll do it," Nikki said, sticking his head in our dressing room.

"Honestly, I'd kill to see that," Donna said with her hands on her hips.

"Fine," he said shrugging. He disappeared, closing the door behind himself.

"Oh god, you challenged him," I said, shaking my head.

"He won't do it," Donna said. "He takes too much time on his own."

"Yeah, not a chance," Emi said. "Makeup?" she asked.

"I'll do that."

They looked at each other and laughed.

"What?" I asked innocently.

"You're going to do your traditional raccoon eyes?"

"Hey, I love my raccoon eyes!" I whined.

"Okay, but make sure you have red lips," Emi said as she turned to her table.

"Got it," I mumbled as I began to apply my thick, black eyeliner; it wasn't tacky or hooker-ish, it was just like a personal trademark.

"I'm back, girls," Nikki said, re-entering the room with a big comb and a can of hairspray.

"Oh my God, you are not," Emi cried out.

"Not what?" he asked, annoyed.

"You're actually going to do her hair?"

"Yup. Done it before, too."

"This is true, he has," I said. "Just let me finish my eye makeup."

"You got it," he said, running his fingers through my hair. "So soft," he whispered.

I giggled and continued lining my eyes as Nikki began to tease his own hair in the mirror beside me.

"Sixx, I'm ninety percent sure you take up more mirror than me," I said, gently pushing him aside when he nearly elbowed my face.

"I might," he said with a shrug.

Soon, I had finished all of my makeup and Nikki was putting the finishing touches on his hair.

"Here, Sadie," Donna said, "this is our little gift, from us to you."

"With love, the Nasty Habits," Emi chimed in.

I opened the box to see my own sparkle studded leather pants that laced all the way up the sides and a matching bra.

"Thank you, girls!" I said excitedly, hugging each of them.

"You're absolutely welcome," Emi said with a warm smile.

"So, if you ever wanna do this another night, you have your own official Nasty Habits style stage outfit," Donna said.

"Of course, if you wanna do it more often, you're gonna need other outfits, but for now this works."

"Well, we'll see how tonight goes. I'm so nervous, but I'm also excited," I said.

As I changed, I could feel the Nikki and girls watching me, their eyes burning tracks onto my skin.

"You're definitely the crown jewel," Emi said.

"Yeah, good thing you're gonna be in the middle," Donna agreed

"Oh, stop," I said sheepishly.

"Sadie, hair," Nikki said, smiling smugly at me, pride oozing out his every pore.

"Right."

°°°°°°

"I wasn't aware that my hair could do this, Nikki," I said as I looked in the mirror.

He had teased it out like his, tall and standing in every direction. I looked like a fur ball with a face, and man, I loved it.

"Well, now you know," he said, kissing me on the cheek. "Let's go ladies, Guns N' Roses are leaving the stage soon," he said as he held the door open for us.

I had to say, I looked good. For once, I felt like I matched the girls, even though I was the complete opposite of them. They were more refined and polished, and I was more rough around the edges, but as a unit, we seemed to compliment each other.

As we walked to the stage, I could hear Guns N' Roses finishing their set.
