three. skater boy
chapter three!
skater boy!
THE DAY WAS STILL ON and Samira had no one to be her fake boyfriend. One guy she tried asking already had a girlfriend, another was really rude, and the rest of them just weren't interested. How was she going to make Greg see that she had moved on if no one wanted to help her?
She was in gym class, jogging on the track. She was doing fine halfway through class... well, until she tripped over something. "Ow! What did I even fall over?" She noticed a soccer ball, her face full of confusion. "Are you okay? I'm sorry that the ball got in the way." Samira looked up, only to see Lee in front of her. "Lee? What are you doing here?"
"I have a free right now. I was playing soccer with my friends and it rolled onto the track. Sorry about that. Do you want me to take you to the nurse or something?" Just as she was going to open her mouth to say something, she saw Greg walking towards the track with Mary. They weren't in her class this period but she panicked, not knowing what to do.
Moving quickly, she pulled Lee onto the floor, flipping him on his back and hovering over him. Cupping his cheeks with her hands, she planted a kiss on his lips, closing her eyes. Lee, on the other hand, was very confused by this. Just then, her teacher yelled. "Hey, Shetty! What are you doing? Just for that, two laps!" The girl got up from the ground, mouthing the words 'I'll talk to you outside at lunch' before slowly jogging away.
"Let me get this straight... you kissed him? Why would you do that?" Paige stated as she waited for Samira to get her things from her locker. "I panicked, okay? I saw Greg and Mary together and I kissed Lee. To make things worse, I'm meeting him right now."
"Samira!"
"Look, I'm going to talk to him, okay? I promise." Paige rolled her eyes at her friend, sighing. "Good because the whole school is going to ask you questions about this."
"They are not. People didn't even remember me while I was dating Greg. You have nothing to worry about." Samira closed her locker, jumping at the sudden sight of Grace. "Grace, you scared the crap out of me! Please don't do that."
"Sorry! Anyways, are you and Lee a thing because that kiss on the track said something." Samira opened and closed her mouth, unable to say anything. Lee stood next to her, crossing his arms. "Grace, can you stop asking her questions? Plus, she's obviously trying to get to lunch."
"You're no fun, Lee. Later." Paige waved Samira goodbye, walking away from them. "I'm gonna meet up with Kia and Brady. I'll see you later, Sam!"
HER AND LEE WERE FINALLY alone... which was very awkward. "Before you say anything, I bought you lunch already so we can eat in the yard."
"What exactly did you get me?" she asked. "I got you a sandwich and fries, along with a soda. Is that okay?" Samira nodded her head, "Yeah, it's fine. Anyways, I wanted to apologize for what happened earlier." The two started walking into the yard, taking slow steps.
"It's fine. But why did you kiss me?" Samira touched her curls as she looked at him. "There was this guy I used to date until this summer and I saw him with his new girlfriend. I panicked in the moment and kissed you, which I really shouldn't have done." The two sat at a table, eating their lunch. "I wanted to ask you something actually." Lee furrowed his eyebrows, "Okay?"
"I need you to be my boyfriend." Lee nearly choked on his food, causing Samira to hand him some water. "I'm sorry. What?"
"Not my actual boyfriend but a fake one."
"Why do you need me to do it? I'm not exactly boyfriend material."
"Because I want to show my ex that I'm trying to move on, even if it means getting a fake boyfriend. Please?" Lee's cheeks turned a faint pink as she gave him the puppy eyes. How could he say no to a girl that pretty? "Fine, fine. I'll help you! Just stop with the puppy dog eyes."
"They work everytime." Samira tore a sheet of looseleaf out of her notebook, grabbing a glittery pen. "If we're going to be a fake couple, we have to set some ground rules."
"Ground rules? What are we, Lara Jean and Peter?" Lee stated sarcastically, earning a look from Samira. "You've watched To All The Boys I've Loved Before?"
"My younger cousin forces me to watch it with her sometimes. Can I have that pen?" Samira handed it to him as he scribbled something down. "Rule number one, no kissing."
"How will we make it believable?"
"Fine, we can kiss sometimes. Your turn."
"Rule number two, we have to hold hands and exchange notes."
"I'm not doing that."
"Guess I'll just have to do the puppy eyes again." Lee groaned, "Fine, I'll do it. You're killing me, Smalls."
"What?"
"You know, that scene where Ham asks Scottie if he wants a s'more and he gets confused?" Samira shakes her head, causing Lee to furrowed his eyebrows. "You've never watched the Sandlot? We need to fix that. That needs to be a rule."
"Rule number four, we post about each other." Samira stated, adding her signature at the bottom, allowing Lee to add his. "So when do you want to do this?"
"We can start tomorrow. Can I have your phone?"
"Why?"
"So I can give you my number, skater boy."
"Skater boy?"
"Because you ride your skateboard, duh." Samira added her number to his phone, handing it back to him. "I'll text you right now." Lee stated, opening his texts.

The sound of the bell ringing could be heard, signaling that it was time for their next class. "So... I'm officially your 'boyfriend'?"
"Yes, and I'm officially your 'girlfriend'. Wait, am I your first girlfriend?" Lee's cheeks flushed, causing her to put a hand on his shoulder. "Lee, it's okay. Not everyone has dated which is normal. Anyways, I'll see you later." Samira started to walk away from him, only to feel his arm around her shoulders. "This is... just to make people suspicious."
"Good thinking."
Little did they know Greg was watching from afar.
