chapter nine!

i'm good as long as you're here with me!

SAMIRA PACED BACK AND FORTH in the schoolyard while Kia and Paige sat at a table. "Sam, relax. What's wrong?" The curly haired girl sighed, looking at the two. "Okay, you know how I've been hanging out with Lee?" she asked, making the two nod their heads. "Yeah. Why?"

"I think I... might like him."  Kia squealed with joy, pointing at Paige.  "I told you so.  When did you start feeling that way?"

"Last night.  He's sweet, he's kind... he's really flirty too.  But it isn't annoying or anything.  And his hair? It's so pretty especially when he takes off his helmet.  Am I talking too much? I'm talking too much, oh my gosh."  Paige laughed, a smile on her face.  "This is great, Sam.  I haven't seen you this excited about a guy since that dick."

"I don't know though.  What if he doesn't feel the same? I mean... he's been helping me with my breakup and he's really good at making it seem there's something between us.  What if it's fake?"  Kia placed a hand on her shoulder, looking at her.  "Sam, I promise he's not faking it.  You'll see it soon."

Rumors about Alex and Cole were spreading like wildfire, only they were ten times worse than they were before. Long story short, Cole and Alex got into a huge fight in the auditorium. The other siblings, along with Lee and Issac, got in trouble and were suspended for a few days. Kia and her friends received a call from Alex that Nathan was in the hospital. The five of them rushed into the lobby, out of breath. "Where's Nathan? Is he okay?" Samira asked. "Hey, Mira." Lee stated.

"Hi." Kia rolled her eyes at the sight of them. "But is your cousin okay? We heard what happened and came right away." she said. "We just learned that he's okay but he needs rest." Issac answered. Samira sat next to Lee, holding his hand. "Do you want to talk about the fight?" he asked. "Um... I mean, if you want to."

"Alex punched Cole last night but it was after we left with Brady. Rumors involving Alex's old girlfriend and Cole were being spread around and it was bad. I'm sorry you won't get to see me for the next few days." Samira gave him a soft smile, squeezing his hand.  "Well, I'm here with you right now.  That's all that matters.  Plus, I want to make sure that Nathan's okay."

Lee melted at her words.  He wasn't very fond of romance or touch in general, it was a foreign thing to him.  But when he was with her, he felt like he had a chance to experience the butterflies, the jokes, and overall beauty of romance.

He just wished she'd feel the same.

BACK AT THE HOUSE, THE kids were helping the Walter siblings set up a "welcome back" party for Nathan. Jordan and Parker were fighting over the best plan for the card, tension between Will and Hayley was higher than ever, and Danny was mad at Issac for stealing the lead role in the school play. Yeah, a lot was going on. Once Nathan entered and everyone gave him a group hug, it was time to eat.

After dinner, Benny was dressed as a dragon. Samira and Lee were in his room, the curly haired girl dressed in a fake princess dress with a tiara and plastic heels while Lee was dressed as a fake knight. "Where did you even get this dress?" Samira asked in surprise, kneeling down. "Kia took Parker shopping and she saw it!"

"Really? It's cute." Benny roared as Samira dramatically screamed in fear, pretending to be a princess. "Please don't hurt me, little dragon." Benny got closer to her, hugging her. "Got you! No one will be able to free you!"

"Fear not, Princess Mira. Your hero is here." Lee stated, causing Samira to fake gasp. "Oh my goodness. He's so handsome." Benny and Lee pretended to fight, Lee stabbing the young boy with a fake sword. "No! I've been defeated." Benny stated, lying on the floor. "Benny! Kia wants to tell me a story. Do you want to hear it?" Paige asked, entering the room. "Yes! Bye, Samira! Later, Lee!"

The two left the room, leaving Lee and Samira alone. Lee helped her off the floor, causing her to laugh. "This was fun."

"It was. You're a really convincing princess." Samira curtsied, fixing her tiara. "Thank you. And you're a great knight." Lee bowed, kissing her hand. "Thank you, fair lady. Uh... would you like to go to the dance with me?" The curly haired girl's cheeks warmed up when he kissed her hand, causing her to clear her throat. "I'd like that." She quickly kissed his lips, hanging up the princess dress. "It's getting late... I should..."

"Yeah... yeah! You should go. I'll see you tomorrow?" Samira nodded her head, smiling at him. "See you tomorrow." She walked out of the room, a wide smile on her face. He made her feel things... things she didn't mind feeling again.
