chapter five!

do u get deja vu?

TODAY WAS THE HOMECOMING HUDDLE as Paige and Samira were setting up the cupcake booth. "Hey Mira!" Liam stated, trying to take a cupcake. Samira smacked his hand away, causing him to yelp in pain.  "These are for the event! You can't take one until it starts."

Her brother sighed, pouting as he looked her in the eyes. She rolled her eyes, giving in.  "Fine. But don't take anymore until it's time." Samira handed him a chocolate cupcake, making Liam smile. "Thanks, Mira!"  Liam eventually went to help their parents with the food, leaving his sister and their friends alone.  "But how are you holding up?" Kia asked, standing behind the booth. "I'm trying. I want to hate him but I just can't. He meant everything to me and he just threw it away." Samira answered, trying her best not to get emotional. Paige and Kia gave the girl a hug, comforting her.

"He's honestly a dipshit." Paige stated, eating a cupcake. Kia laughed while Samira's mouth widened. "Paige! You can't eat that!"  The blonde looked at her, shrugging her shoulders.  "There are more! And plus I'm hungry!"

The event eventually started as Samira and Paige were able to sell a lot of pastries.  A few hours had passed as the curly haired girl was tending to a customer, not really noticing Lee.  Once they were gone, he walked up to the two.  "Hi, Paige.  Hey, Samira."

"Lee, hi.  What's up?" The boy almost forgot what he was going to say as he looked at her.  She a sight for sore eyes as one would say.  "When are you free?"

"I'll be done in a few minutes.  Why?" she stated, the wind blowing in her hair.  "We could-"

"Hey, guys.  Do you have any chocolate cupcakes left? Oh... hi, Lee." Kia said.  "Hi, Kia."  Unfortunately for her, Issac walked up to the group.  "Samira, hi.  Can I have a vanilla cupcake? What is she doing here?"

"Hello to you too, Garcia." The boy scoffed, about to say something to Kia. "Look, I have enough cupcakes for both of you.  Can you not right now?" she snapped, making Issac close his mouth.  Once they left, she turned to Lee.  "You were saying?"

"I was wondering if you wanted to hang out after you're done." he answered, his cheeks slightly red.  "Of course. I'd like that."  Paige wore a sly smirk as she noticed the boy's expression. Once he left, the blonde turned to Samira. "What's going on with you and Lee?"

"Nothing, Paige. Why?"

"Well, I figured there would've been something going on with you two. I mean, you kissed him the other day."

"Paige, me and Lee are just friends." After a few minutes, Paige stayed back to give away the cupcakes while Samira looked for Lee.  The boy was talking to Cole and Alex by the apple cider cart as she walked over to them. "Hey, Alex." she stated, causing Lee to look at her. "I'm here too, you know." the blonde boy said as Samira stared at him. It's not that she hated him but Brady disliked Cole so she had to respect her friend. "Ignore him. Anyways, we can go." Lee interjected as he took Samira's hand and led her away.

THE TWO WERE STANDING in the crowd as they watched the cheerleaders perform. Unfortunately for Samira, Mary was on stage as the girl waved her pom - poms. The football team came out onto the stage, along with their coach. Samira felt unease when she saw Greg as her eyes darted around. "Are you okay, Samira?" Lee asked. "Yes, Lee, I'm fine. Seriously, I'm okay." The boy had a feeling she was lying to him but he didn't want to push her further.

"And let's hear it for your new starting quarterback, number 44, Dylan Newsome! We also couldn't have won these last few games without our amazing captain, Greg Jones! Give them a round of applause, everybody!" The audience clapped as the two boys waved. "Thanks, coach. This season has been so great and I couldn't have done it without such an amazing team. I also want to thank my girlfriend, Mary, for being so supportive. She's... she's my lucky charm." A series of 'aw's' were heard from some members of the crowd, causing the curly haired girl to scoff.

Mary ran up to Greg as the two hugged each other, the boy lifting the blonde up and spinning her in his arms. Samira realized something: Mary was wearing his jersey. The curly haired girl would always wear his football jersey when they were together, feeling a sense of Deja Vu. Lee noticed the way the girl looked at the couple, taking off his hoodie and held it out to her. "Why are you-"

"I saw the way you looked at them and you don't look okay. Just... wear my hoodie for the rest of the fair, alright?" The boy explained, looking a little grumpy. Samira took it as she put it on. Lee noticed how his hoodie looked on her, taking in her appearance. "It suits you." he stated, the two lost in their own world. "Thanks." she replied with a smile. After the sports showcase, Samira led Lee to a bean bag toss game.

"Get ready to lose, Garcia." she teased as she grabbed a blue bean bag. Lee scoffed, rolling his eyes as he took a red one. "As if, Shetty. I come from a competitive family, you're going down." Round after round, the two of them couldn't really make the bean bags go into the hole.  "Tie?" Samira questioned.  "I thought you said I was going to lose? Are you backing out?" Lee stated sarcastically.  "I did say that.  Are you backing out?" She threw another bean bag into the hole, successfully making it in.  "No, I'm winning this." Lee said.

Long story short, the two of them decided to leave it at a tie.  They played a few more games before getting something to eat.  Paige and Liam joined them as they all walked together.   Mary was standing with Greg, wearing a red bow in her hair and her cheer uniform. She still had on his jersey. Paige didn't look where she was going and her drink flew out of her hand. A scream was let out, except it wasn't from Paige. It was from Mary.

The sticky drink had gotten all over Greg's jersey. "Look what you've done!" Mary exclaimed, grabbing napkins to clean out the stain. Greg was angry at Paige, walking up to her. "You probably did this on purpose!". "It - it was an accident, I swear! Everyone saw." the young girl stated, trying to defend herself.

"Oh, please. Did Sam put you guys up for this?"  Liam stared at him with furrowed eyebrows, "First, of all, you don't get to call her that anymore. Second, she's all the way over there. Why would she do that?"  Greg scoffed, clearly angry.  "To get back at me. I had a feeling she was jealous but I never thought it would actually happen."

"Babe! The stain won't get out!" Mary complained. Greg went to her aid, grabbing a bottle of water.  "He's really pathetic." Liam stated.  "Mary's even worse.  Thank god I made it look like an accident."  Liam stopped in his tracks.  "Wait, so you planned this?"

"Yeah.  Brady helped me."

"Thank god.  You guys should do it again." Liam stated, earning a nudge from Samira.   "Ow! What was that for?" he complained.  "You saw how ugly that got.  I don't want Greg coming for you guys." she stated, causing Liam to laugh.  "I'm not scared of Greg.  He's a walking joke."

"He's not wrong." Lee says.  "Lee!" she exclaimed, making the boy raise his hands in defense.  "What? It's the truth."  The event eventually came to an end as the Walter family was leaving.   "Lee, wait!"  The said boy turned around, noticing her.   "Yes?"

"Thank you for everything.  It was... really fun." The boy's cheeks turned pink hearing her words, clearing his throat.  "No problem."

"I'll see you tomorrow?" she asked.   "Yeah.  I'll see you."  Samira noticed the rest of his family and Jackie, waving to them.  "Goodbye, everyone." she said with joy as she walked away.  "Bye, Samira!" they all yelled.   Samira got into the backseat of Brady's car, with Liam and their friends in the vehicle too.   As he drove on the road, Kia turned to Samira.  "So, what's up with you and Lee?" Kia teased.

"Nothing! I was just trying to get to know him." Samira answered.  "Sure.  You were definitely doing that." Paige said.   The three girls looked at Liam who simply shrugged.  "I'm fine with it as long as it's not Greg's stupid face."

"Guys, leave her alone.  I'm sure she was just trying to spark a conversation with him." Brady said, defending her.  "Thank you, Brady! See at least someone-"

"Aren't you still wearing his hoodie?" Brady asked.  Samira looked down, realization hitting her.  "Shit! I can't give it back now.  What if I bring it tomorrow and people ask me questions?"

"Just ignore them."  The girl decided to leave it alone at the moment as she and her friends sang along to the music playing on the radio.   Meanwhile, Lee was in the car with his brother and cousins as Issac smirked.  "What's up with you and Samira?" he asked, causing his younger brother's cheeks to flush.  "Nothing."

"Yeah, what is up with you guys?" Danny asked as more questions were thrown at him.   "Stop! Me and Samira are just friends.  Nothing is going on between us.  Can we just drop it now?" the boy stated, causing the car to go silent.

Oh, how wrong he was.
