Mike Banning
For IAMTIEBROUS
It's been a while since my Aunt Margaret passed away and that was the last time I had visited her and my Uncle Ben. I will never forget that night, having to watch her die and hold my cousin Connor back. It was also the last time I had seen that familiar and handsome face that I knew from somewhere in my past. So many memories here, I thought as I stood in the foyer of the White House.
"Hey Heather, it's been a while since we've seen you." I hear the familiar voice of Agent Roma call out.
"Roma!!!! I've missed you!" I exclaimed as I ran up to him and hugging him.
"What about me?" I hear Dave ask.
"Dave!!! One of my favorite people to see." I giggled out before running over to hug him.
I hear him chuckle as he hugged me back.
"Where's my uncle and Connor at?" I asked him.
"Your uncle is in a meeting at the moment and Connor is who knows where. You know Banning has taught him bad habits." Dave chuckles.
"Just what Connor needs. I'm already a bad influence on him. I just came by to let you guys know I'm here now. I'm going to go out for some coffee and I'll be back soon." I giggled out.
I left the White House and began walking to the local cafe. The walk was a lot faster than I anticipated on it being. I wasn't paying attention and accidentally ran into someone right in front of the cafe.
"Oh my gosh, I am so so sorry!"
"Don't be, accidents happen." A husky voice chuckles, sending shivers down my entire body. I look up and see the familiar face again.
"What's you're name if you don't mind me asking?" I curiously asked him.
"Mike Banning." Then it all clicks.
"Oh my gosh, I haven't seen you in so long. You look even more handsome."
"Wait...I remember you.Heather right? We went to high school and prom together."
"Yep that's me."
"Would you want to sit down and have coffee with me? I have some time before I have to be at work." He asked me holding the door open for me.
"Sure. I don't have anything else to do until my uncle gets out of his meeting. You know being the president is always time consuming." I sigh.
"Yeah, I remember that."
"I'm sorry that he let you go. It wasn't your fault, what happened to my aunt. You tried your best and my uncle shouldn't of blamed you." I whispered to him as we stood in line waiting to be served.
"I feel like it was my fault." Mike had his head hung down.
I grabbed his hand and squeezed it. "It wasn't your fault I promise Mike."
It was finally our turn in line and we gave our order to the lady. We talked for the few minutes while waiting to get our coffee. After Mike paid for our coffee we made our way to a seat by the door where Lynn Jacobs sat.
"Hi Lynn. Long time no see." I smiled at her.
"Hello Heather. You look even more beautiful now. What are you doing here?"
"Thank you, I can say the same about you. I'm visiting my uncle. It's been way too long." I replied back to her.
"Hi Jacobs." Mike said to her.
"Hello Banning. How was your Fourth?"
I zoned out on their conversation until Mike elbowed me.
"We'll be in touch Banning. Bye Heather, we need to get caught up on everything."
"Bye Lynn. We definitely do." I smiled at her before she left.
"So how have you been since high school? What have you been doing?"
"I've been good. I went to college for photography. I do a lot of projects for businesses and weddings. I've been a photographer for Vogue and a few other magazines. I managed to even get into modeling. What about you?"
"I've been good. I was a Secret Service Agent and Presidential Guard until that night. I became disgraced after that. I left and work with National Security now. It's decent." Mike looked at his coffee.
"My uncle will come to his senses. If not I will do something about it. Now, what's this I hear about you being a bad influence on Connor and teaching him to sneak out?" I smirk into my coffee cup before taking a sip.
"I don't doubt you. Don't act like I'm the only bad influence on him." Mike laughs out.
I laugh with him watching as he looks at his watch.
"I have to go unfortunately, but we should meet up again soon and catch up more." Mike flashes that pearly white smile at me like he always did in high school, making my heart skip a beat.
"Alright. We really do need to catch up. Be careful at work." I flash a smile back at him.
"I will be. It was really great seeing you again Heather. I've wondered where you've been after high school. It never dawned on me that you were Ben's niece. You look beautiful."
"It's great seeing you too Mike. I never really payed much attention until I got a good look at your face and was trying to remember you. Thank you Mike. You look handsome as always."
"I really gotta go, but I'll see you soon." A frown casts on his face.
"Alright Mike." I studied his face.
Before he walked to his car he walked over to me, pulling me into his embrace to hug me tightly. I wrapped my arms just as tight around his waist. We both pulled away smiling before he walked out of the door and to his car and getting in. I stayed sitting there and before I knew it an hour had passed by. I stood up after I finished my second cup of coffee and made my way to the garbage can by the door. After throwing my cup away I walked out. I could see the building that Mike worked at. I smiled at it before beginning my walk back to the White House. I noticed a plane flying lower and slower than it should be. It flew passed Mike's work and made a turn.
"Holy s.." I didn't get to finish my sentence before shots were being fired from the plane killing almost everyone in its path. Oh my God... I, along with everyone else, began screaming. I took off running and knocked someone over.
"Heather?!"
"Mike?!"
"We've got to get out of here and save as many people as we can. We have to get to the White House." Mike yells over the screams and shots fired. I was shaking and had tears streaming down my face. I let Mike take the lead as we began pushing people down behind cars and yelling at them to stay down. Other people who were running we yelled at them to get down. We finally made it to the gates of the White House. A bus suddenly blew up causing us plus the bystanders to jump. We noticed a lot of men standing there with backpacks and their faces covered.
"HEY GET THE FUCK DOWN!!" Mike started yelling at the two main ones.
"I SAID GET THE FUCK DOWN!!" Mike yelled before we both simultaneously pulled our guns out and began firing at the first man. The second one pulled a string before Mike and I had a chance to run. We both flew forwards and my ears started ringing. I quickly jumped up after seeing a man approaching Mike while his back was turned. I kneed Mike where the sun doesn't shine and shot the dude behind him.
"What the hell was that for?!" Mike groans out.
"Sorry I didn't have time to react and that's the only thing I could think to do. There was a guy sneaking up on you." I apologize to him.
"It's fine. I'll be fine in a second." Mike said with a hand on my shoulder helping him stand up. I kept firing shot after shot at the remaining threats before putting the safety on and dumping the empty clip on the ground and putting a new one in then switching the safety back off. We started shooting the as many threats we could that we seen. The lawn of the White House now became a war zone. There was so many. I noticed that White House workers were being shot and fought against by Koreans that were there for more than business. Everything after that was a blur for me. All I seen was red because of how pissed I was. When I became aware of my surroundings again, we were close to the stairs by the front door. All we had to do was run in. We made a break for it with what few workers there were. I went to grab one who had been shot but he received more gunshots to his back.
"We have to get upstairs. Let's go." Mike told me before we made a run for the stairs. We sat there watching the Korean men storm into the foyer shooting anyone whether they were dead or alive. Mike and I booked it upstairs. Gunshots rang out between the inside workers and the other men. Mike and I waited in a room until it all stopped and no footsteps could be heard. We made it into the hallway seeing that all the inside defense was dead. Mike felt everyone's pulse and checked their pockets for anything that we could use. There were several Korean men dead in the hall with masks on. Mike lifted one of the men's mask and looked at their face. The next body made my knees buckle underneath me and tears fall down my face.
"R...Roma...no..." I sobbed quietly as I placed my head against his. Mike wrapped an arm around me before kissing the side of my head. I kissed Roma's forehead before standing up.
"We are giving him a proper funeral once this is over with and cleaned up." I whispered to Mike.
We crept down the hall to eliminate the remaining threats we could before making it into an office so Mike could grab whatever he needed. We then moved to the Oval Office and I kept guard as Mike contacted Lynn and the Speaker of the House. I heard Mike ask where Connor was and I froze when they said they didn't know where he was at. He was just somewhere in the White House and Mike told them that the enemy was looking for him. Over my dead body. Mike had finally hung up then we heard footsteps outside. We both moved against the wall so we couldn't be seen until the intruder came in. Once Mike finished the job we moved on to getting suited up. I stood next to him listening to his and Lynn's conversation.
"Is he alive?" She asked him.
"Ask me a serious question." He told her causing me to laugh.
"Is that Heather with you?"
"Affirmative." He told her while loading guns and handing me a few.
I began placing them along with knives wherever I could put them. Ooohh grenades! I grinned like an idiot once he gave me one. I placed it into the pocket of the vest. Once he hung up again we began moving and made it to Lincoln's bedroom. Mike and I did a sweep of the room before diving behind the secret door and within the walls. Footsteps were heard within the room as we made our way further between the walls. Mike slowed down before quickly aiming his gun around a pillar finding Connor. I yanked my cousin towards me into a tight hug before placing a finger to my lips. Gunshots rang out as Mike and I fired shots back while running with Connor and falling into another room. Mike kicked the door shut and we ran again, this time all the way down stairs and to a vent. I heard a noise after Mike helped Connor into the vent to get him out of the White House and to safety. Mike must not of heard the noise but I did. I quickly whispered to my little cousin to be quiet before shoving Mike back and placing a hand over his mouth. I watched as an individual looked up the vent. I snuck up behind him put one hand over his mouth and the other behind his neck before snapping it.
"Nobody messes with my family and lives." I growl at the dead body at my feet.
"Connor keep climbing. Jacobs it was a false alarm." Once I hear that Connor is safe, we continue on our mission. Two guys appeared in the hallway we were in. Mike took one and I took the other then moved forward.
"That should hold them." I look over at Mike grinning.
We took the two dumbasses and tied them up.
"We want information. Who's your leader? Do you know English, huh? They teach you that where you come from? Because where I'm from they teach me how to extract information from men like you." Mike questioned the man on the right. Both men started laughing causing me and Mike to fake laugh.
"I get it. That's funny. I know we get it." Mike laughs telling them. After he said that I grabbed the top of the guy's head and shoved my knife up through his chin. I smiled innocently at the guy on the left as he freaked out.
"I liked your friend though. He seemed like a funny guy. What's your leaders name? Oh I'm sorry." Mike said before removing the gag from his mouth. "How many men you with?"
The guy went to speak but I quickly covered his mouth and stabbed my knife into his leg.
"What is with you tonight?"
"I wasn't completely honest with you. I was in a special task force in the military. A spy also if you will. I killed around one hundred bad people and I used my womanly charm to get information. I also was highly trained in every way available." I replied to him.
"In English asshole."
"His name is Yeonsak Kang and he's head of the UKF."
I let Mike do the talking to Jacobs.
"Heather just asked them nicely." Mike answers and I grin looking at the other man I killed.
We moved back into the hallway when Kang's voice came over the intercom.
"Welcome to my house."
Mike reached and grabbed a little microphone thing and spoke back. "Hey asshole what took you so long?"
"You're the one to let the first lady die, no? And soon the president. Failure seems to be a habit with you."
"Yeah well maybe I owe you for giving me the chance for making that up today." Mike answers.
"I admire you for acknowledging your failure. But there's no going back. Nothing you try and do here tonight can atone."
"Yeah maybe not. But I reckon fucking your shit up will be a pretty good start. You may wanna take a headcount. The bodies are piling up." Mike tells him.
I zoned out because this was getting petty. When I came back to, Mike was moving so I followed. We made it to the main floor on high alert. We were hiding in a corner when we seen a gun in sight. Mike and I put our guns on the man's head before slamming him against the wall.
"Mike! Heather! Mike, Heather, it's me Dave."
"Dave?" I questioned.
"You scared the shit out of me!"
"Jesus, what the fuck?"
I listened as Mike questioned Dave. I froze up when I heard Dave mention Kang's name.
"Dave what did you do?" I cried out.
Mike got an angry look on his face before he rammed Dave through a set of doors and they both landed on a table before hitting the floor. They kept fighting until Mike used Dave's own knife against him and stabbed him. Dave grabbed my shirt and pulled me down with him. Mike sat down on the other side of Dave. I was holding Dave up the best that I could while he had blood coming out of his mouth.
"Dave why did you do it?" Mike asked him sadly.
"Fuck, Mike. Fuck. I lost my way."
"You can make up for it by telling Kang that we're dead." I told him while Mike handed him the little microphone looking thing.
"Kang, it's Forbes. I got them. All clear."
"Good." Is all Kang said.
All three of us sat there looking at each other with tears streaming down our faces.
"Mike can I have a moment alone with Heather before you kill me?"
I nodded to Mike.
"I'm so sorry Heather. I mean it. You know I've always loved you but I knew you loved Mike. I want to make this last moment count." I didn't have time to react before Dave leaned up and kissed me. I may not have been in love with him, but he was my best friend so I felt like I owed him this. I placed a hand on his cheek and kissed him back. We pulled apart as Mike came back over to us.
"Go out in the hall and wait for Mike." Dave told me with a small smile on his face. I did as he said and waited for Mike as I started crying. Mike came out and hugged me.
"Let's go get your uncle."
We started moving and everything became a blur again to me. The next thing I knew it was just me, Mike, and Kang standing in the hallway next to the bunker. Mike and I started fighting against Kang when a gunshot went off. I looked down and seen the red soaking up my shirt from my stomach.
"M..Mike.." I called out as I started falling. A set of arms caught me before I hit the ground.
"No...no Heather!" I could faintly hear Mike and my uncle calling out right before I blacked out.
Everything hurts terribly. My eyes slowly started to open. I noticed Mike sitting in a chair next to my bed.
"Mike...Mike!" I somewhat yelled.
"Thank God you're awake! You've been out for a week. The doctor's weren't sure you were going to make it..." Mike grabbed my hand, tears falling down his face.
"I'm not going down without a fight." I smile at him.
"I thought I lost you."
"You will never lose me Mike." I didn't have time to process things before he leaned over and kissed me. I kissed him back after grabbing his shirt and yanking him closer. We pulled away to breathe.
"I've been wanting that since prom." I giggled.
"Now you got it. We're burying Dave and Roma once you get out of here and are healed up enough. I know what you did for Dave and I'm really sorry that it had to come down to that"
"I forgave him for what he did. He was a great man but lost his way and fell down a dark hole. You done what had to be done. How's my uncle by the way?"
"He's healed up nicely and he'll be in here later on."
"Good. That means we have more time." I told Mike as I pulled his face close to mine and pressed my lips to his.
I was glad that we killed Kang and his helpers, minus Dave. I wish Dave wouldn't of went the way he went, but I would never forget the better man he was before this happened. It's my family and I against the world. It's Mike and I against the world.
