2: Ruby

I can't believe how difficult it is to just walk to the library. Why do people always get in my way?

Sure, it isn't the best thing, and I shouldn't be complaining. Although, bumping into Jasper the lunatic is always complain worthy. She's only one grade above me, while I'm only in 10th. Surprisingly, she uses it as her advantage.

"Hey, pathetic loser. Where do you think you're going?" She grins, standing right infront of me. I'm passing by the park, where it's a nice place to relax. All of the leaves in the trees are beginning to wilt already.

"Somewhere that's not as terrible as you." I fake smile, crossing my arms.

Jasper laughs, standing tall. "Thanks for the compliment, runt. Now, tell me," She  snarls. "Where are you going?"

Stiffening, I try to step to the side. The bully blocks my way. There's no way to passively get by this. "The library."

"Pff, that place is boring," Jasper yawns. "Why are you going there? To learn how to get a little... taller?" Jasper snorts and places her hands on her hips.

"Rude," I hear the sounds of birds chirping in the distance. At least they don't have to deal with bullies. Haha, bird bullies. Wait, isn't that sort of like the principal, Pearl? "Doesn't your sidekick, Peridot, go there? She's perfectly fine, and you don't complain?!?" I don't like having to talk to Jasper, especially when she's with her friend, Peridot. Peridot is okay, but she always starts rumors and is the teachers' pet. I'd smack that green lady, but it's not my place. Control my anger. That's what matters.

"Peri is cool, that's why. She tells me if-" Jasper makes a punching motion from her right and to her left. "Anyone talks bad about this hunk of pure glory."

While she makes the motions, I attempt to sneak past again. Sadly, another failure. Jasper catches me, staying ahead. "Nice move, puny girl. Wait, are you even a girl?"

With a flushing face and clenching fists, I'm not able to control my aggression anymore. "Ugh!!!! Stop!!! Wanna fight me, let's do this!"

"Good, time to have another annoying kid for lunch." Jasper makes a slightly close-lipped smile. "You'll lose, too bad you don't have someone else with you. Oh yeah, you have no friends."

"No!!" Angerly stuttering, I know it's true. I don't have any close friends, because I'm always causing trouble. My hopes will be someone will come and help me calm down. Also, I'd be able to beat Jasper. "Back up, I'm charging!"

Jasper cracks her knuckles, backing up. "Okay, let's do this."

I back up, stretching my arms. Rolling my neck, I respond. "Yeah! Bring it on- punk!"

We are pretty separate by now, and we both have a corageos smirk placed on our faces. Except for one thing. Her smirk is casual, while mine brings less regret than it should. Someone should be holding me back. Some should calm my fury.

Someone should have the patience to deal with me.

Although, it looks like that won't be happening, only in my lousy dreams. Whatever, Jasper is going down. For real.

Finally, we charge right at each other. Starting about sixty yards from each other, it's time for the fight

My feet kick off the ground, sneakers hanging on tight. My arms spread and go back and fourth, giving endurance. My hair blowing back, it's an amazing feeling.

Jasper takes longer strides, her Nike shoes brushing against the park concrete.

"Hyaaaaaaaah!!!"

"Aaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!"

Screeeeech!!!

That's the sound of my sneakers on the ground as I try to stop myself. Same with the big bully. We're close to each other, but there's something in the way.

An old lady with a cane is passing by right in the middle of our 'battlezone'. She's oblivious to our almost achieved combat, and we're paused.

"Hey," I smile to her, as she stares me down. "Nice weather, huh?"

Jasper gives a fake smile as well. "Yeah. Great... cane you got there! It really brings out your.... eyes?"

The elderly lady frowns at Jasper.

Smack!

The lady hits Jasper in the stomach with her cane as the bully covers the spot in agony. "Ow!"

The old lady keeps walking along, as I come to a sudden realization. I would of thought of this sooner, if I wasn't so angry before. If I continue this fight, it won't be good.

Jasper is going to freaking hurt me.

And I'm not prepared for that much pain.

Quickly, as Jasper recovers, I slip past her, heading straight to the Libary. I'll be safer there anyways. Although, as I leave, I hear Jasper screaming something to me in the far-away distance.

"You're never going to have any friends!"
