"Of course I don't like gay people," Enzo sneers, throwing Saad's hand away. "I'm not that much of a mummy's boy."

"Oh," a wave of sadness washes over Saad's face. "Okay."

"I thought we were in a rush?" Enzo tries to laugh it off. "Are you going to stand there forever?"

"Ah, no, sorry." Saad stutters quickly, and walks ahead of Enzo. "The train station will take ten minutes to walk."

"Alright," Enzo walks next to Saad. "Let's go."

An awkward silence rests upon the two boys.

"So-"

"How-"

"You first," Enzo stuffs his hands into his coat pockets. "I was only going to start small talk."

"I don't think we have really spoken about it properly," Saad strarts, "I'm leaving soon, I don't want to go with regret. We should speak about the future."

"Future?" Enzo asks. "You talk as if we're married."

"I'm trying to be serious," Saad smiles. "Look, I can tell you're putting it off, but you can feel sad about me leaving."

"Saad," even his name does unfamiliar tricks in his heart. "No offense, but we're not even that close."

The silence comes back.

"Why did I say that?" Enzo thinks to himself. "Why did I open my stupid mouth and say that?"

"The train station is at the bottom of this road," Saad says after a few minutes of silence. "The bus stop is in front of it, bye."

"I thought you were walking me to the bus stop," Enzo smiles awkwardly, his attempt of a joke. "Not the beginning of the road it's on."

"Yeah, well," Saad's eyebrows furrow. "I thought we were close, I guess not. I'm sure you can manage walking down a road by yourself, bye."
