Aether's crusade on the oceanid

Context: Geo Aether, Diluc, Barbara, and Fischl set out to fight the oceanid.

---

"This has gone on long enough! Poor Aether keeps returning to me with horrible wounds after multiple failed attempts to defeat the Rhodeia of Loch at Liyue! Healing him all the time like this is tiring you know?" Barbara spoke exasperatedly.

Behind her sat the knight in question who just finished recovery, and before her stood Diluc and Fischl.

"So you want us to fight the Rhodeia?" Diluc replied with his hand on his hip. He wasn't too pleased with having to do something so troublesome, but Aether has helped him a lot. As cold as he was, well- he wasn't Kaeya the man of ice vision. Ironically. "Fine."

"I, Prinzessin der Verurteilung shall lend my power in this mission to rid such a diabolical entity from the face of our divine lands."

"....what?" Barbara's brow twitched as she endured a forced smile.

"Mein Fräulein means to say she will help."

"Alright then! We'll need to give Aether some time to relax so lets head to Liyue tomorrow, is that fine?"

Both nodded in agreement. From their lack of nerves, Aether could tell that they didn't see the oceanid for the beast it really was. But soon enough they will.

---

The redhead scorned the prickly heat all the way to Liyue. Where he began mumbling silent curses because just as they arrived to the Oceanid's location it started to rain.

Wind gradually blew stronger with every passing second and seemed to have a subtle echo. Like subdued calls of the spirits.

"So, murderers from our homeland have come on a futile journey to harass the people of the Qingce waters... Very well then. But be warned, her power shall crush any miscreant that would dare pollute these waters." The voice of the water spoke. The same line the blonde knight had heard the many times he's been crushed and deemed a "miscreant" by the water bitch that loomed the abyssal waters of Qingce.

Aether gritted his teeth. Particles of water that shallowly covered the small platform the group stood on which was surrounded by more water lifted up into the air and formed a spirit like figure. "Rhodeia of Loch." He breathed.

"With no place to flow, even the purest of water will begin to envy the forms of living things who can roam about freely. It is this "water" that will be used to drown you and the pollution you bring in your wake."

The first wave of the oceanid's hydro mimics came down, Diluc held out his claymore and stood ready. Fischl had drawn out her bow and arrow, Barbara was at the rear to support from a safe position and Aether stood awkwardly while praying to Barbatos that the oceanid wouldn't begin with the water frogs.

"Nooooo....! Aaah why? Why the frogs! Do you enjoy messing with me like this miss Rhodeia of the amazing Loch!?" The blonde male threw his arm into the air and watched while a giant water mimic frog lept into the air.

"Aether... You still have to help us figh-" Diluc turned to Aether as he spoke, but the impact of the frog landing sent him flying off the platform startlingly.

"Diluc!" Barbara gasped.

"Oh my! The fractious wielder of the flame devoured claymore has been punished by the divine winds! I shall take it from here to defeat this slimy H20 villain that strikes without a whisper! Come out oz!" Fischl sent out her companion to help her battle against the water frog. She had hoped the frog would go after oz to allow her distance to shoot her arrows, but the frog expeditiously followed after her and she ended up running around the platform for dear life.

The support of the group in the midst of all that was busy helping Diluc out of the water and healing him after the damage the insane impact dealt. Aether by then had his hand hovering over his sword feeling reluctant to draw it.

"Uhmm you there-!" Fischl panted as she spoke. "It would be positively discerning if you-" the frog let out a croak and stopped chasing after her in preparation to make another heavy leap. "Just fight this stupid frog!" She screamed and dashed to the opposite side of the platform where Barbara and Diluc were.

"Fine." Aether's hand trembled under the Rhodeia of Loch. But he still managed to swiftly draw his sword and charge towards the frog with a maddening strike.

It gave opportunity to Oz, and Fischl, quickly destroying the one mimic monster.

"And that's only the first one of them." Diluc groaned. His clothes were wet and made things feel even more uncomfortable for him. But still, he returned to position to resume battle soon after.

Things started to get exhilarating for the two that defeated the water frog. But down came the second furious wrath. Two water ducks, three water cranes.

It took less than a minute for all four of the so deemed "miscreants" to be scattered around the platform and running from the chasing ducks and painful shots from the cranes. Diluc was at least able to rid the cranes with ease after taking a few hits, Fischl wasn't doing a horrible job, and Aether was slashing his sword aimlessly.

"You can do it guys!" Barbara cheered while doing her best to heal from a distance. Fischl was taking the most damage from the group being rather fragile, and unfortunately getting chased by all mimics that attacked closely. So from then on the blonde healer had focused on her the most.

"Without solid ground, terrestrial creatures become simply... helpless."

Fischl and Aether had their hands on their knees and they were gasping for air. Random platforms began to sink and the four took it as a moment to rest while cautiously making sure they weren't on one of the platforms that were to sink.

"Barbara I need quicker healing in battle. I almost got knocked out against those cranes." The redhead spoke.

"Then dodge their attacks! I needed to focus on Fischl because poor child was getting chased after the ducks." Barbara frowned.

"It is not necessary to prospect me as someone insubstantial." Fischl said with her head held high. A powerful and confident girl she was, and loved to be.

Before their conversation continued, the third wave of mimics came. While the group was still trying to get a clear vision on what they were going to face this time, a water boar came charging at Barbara and knocked her right off the platform. The three turned to the girl whose body began to sink into the water and it had occured to them what the boar did was fatal and that Barbara was rendered unconscious.

Diluc jumped in to retrieve the girl, Aether looked at Fischl expecting that the two would fight the mimics together, but the chuunibyou was already swimming away from the oceanid's territory in a composed manner.

"I will crush you one day, Rhodeia. But that day is not today." Aether sighed.
