[3rd person]
Crowds of people dressed to fit the occasion gathered under breathtaking chandeliers in a large hall but all she could see was the man in a suit that unfittingly wore an eyepatch. The one she loved dearly for so long. He was rather eccentric but that only made him love her even more.
Until recently, she believed that her love was one sided. Until recently she believed that attending the ball with Kaeya as her partner would remain a dream.
"You alright there?" Kaeya asked (y/n). He handed her a glass of wine, he had one as well. And asked if she was doing alright since he had left briefly to grab them drinks.
"Yeah! Thanks."
For years the two kept a friendly, platonic relationship while both hiding mutual romantic feelings for each other. (Y/n) was obvious with it, Kaeya was oblivious. And as he was very charming in nature, no one could blame (y/n) for not realizing he had feelings for her as well because none had a clue.
"Try not to get drunk, it'll be hard getting you back home in shape if you do." Kaeya grinned before taking a sip from his glass.
"You should tell that to yourself. I'm not the one who drinks often." She put the glass down on the table she'd been standing by for a while now.
"Is something wrong?"
"I don't know..."
Part of her felt like she wasn't content with just standing here. After all, she had the opportunity right there to have a dance with Kaeya. Him wrapping his arms around her waist and dancing to the melody of the well orchestrated music.
She could easily have that experience but felt like it would be odd if it was her asking him to dance. (Y/n) was the first to confess her feelings in the past, and was also the one to hint the idea of them going as partners to the ball. It made her feel like she was just pushing Kaeya around. Did he actually feel the same?
"I'm going to the comfort room for a bit." She averts her eyes from him and walks away. Not even realizing she was going the direction opposite the comfort room.
Surely the man was confused with the sudden change of (Y/n)'s mood. Everytime she'd think about it, about her and Kaeya she'd feel a pain in her heart.
"(Y/n)! Where are you going? I see you're not with Kaeya at the moment." Keqing was quick go spot her acquaintance who was walking in an unusually fast pace.
"The comfort room."
"But the comfort room is that way?" The purple haired girl pointed at the direction of the comfort room. "Hmm. Did something happen between you and your partner?"
"No, not at all! Looks like I just got confused with where the comfort room is." (Y/n) chuckled awkwardly and hurried off to the correct direction of the comfort room, escaping Keqing's presence.
She ignored the crowds of people, rushing past them. Avoiding familiar faces, until she was panting in front of the large mirror in the comfort room in front of the sink. "I'm an idiot. I can't help but feel this way... Should I feel this way?" She looked at herself.
Their relationship didn't feel much different from when it was platonic.
"Even if it is a dream of mine to become Kaeya's lover, I don't want it if he doesn't feel the same."
"Kaeya is looking for you. Go back to him." The same acquaintance from earlier enters the comfort room, interrupting (y/n) from her talk with herself in the mirror.
"Keqing..." Reluctant to leave the comfort room, she fiddled with her fingers.
"He may have a sad amount of pride in himself but I'm sure he's realized it's been hurting you." Barbara stepped out of one of the stalls.
"It's not good to eavesdrop." (Y/n) sighed. "Fine, It would be rude of me to leave him after I was the one to suggest this."
(Y/n) made her way back to the main area, the silk of her dress brushed against her legs as she walked, it only made her feel more anxious to face Kaeya again.
Locks of his turquoise hair that faded into a lighter color by its ends rested against his face, the color a certain hue brighter delighted by the brilliant light the chandeliers gave off. Kaeya stood there as the masterpiece he is, and the masterpiece he knows he is.
"Finally found you." He approached (y/n) with a calm demeanor.
"Ahh haha yeah. Sorry for rushing off like that, I just felt nauseous all of a sudden."
"I have my doubts with your words."
(Y/n) felt fingertips brush against the palm of her hand before their fingers interwined. Her gaze at Kaeya, looking both puzzled and surprised.
"It's better this way. If you try running off again I'll just pull you right back too me. Struggle too much and I'll have to hold you in my arms then." He continued.
"That's embarrassing you know!" (Y/n) tried to pull her hand away because of the overwhelmingly sheepish feeling, but Kaeya refused to let go. "Just what are you trying to achieve by this?"
"I just want to make up for everything."
"What do you mean?"
Kaeya's free arm wrapped around (Y/n)'s waist and pulled her close. His warmth drowned out the sound of the music, the chattering of the people and all she could perceive now was his presence. "I'm going to be a better boyfriend."
"It's... Not like I'm dissatisfied with how you've been before."
"Those lies are just going to hurt you." His voice was mellow. "Just let me be a better boyfriend for you. Now, shall we dance?"
