Chapter 7
THE BROKEN NOSE GUY and MS. OBNOXIOUS
"Shit." I heard Caleb curse under his breath. "Aurora, wake up! You're extremely late!"
My eyes flew open, and I was still in his bed, wrapped in his arms. "What- what time is it?"
"6:54." He stated.
I jumped out of bed, tripped on absolutely nothing at all, and fell down on the floor. Caleb started laughing his ass off, but he offered me his hand, and pulled me up. "Are you okay?" He asked still laughing.
I nodded, and headed off to get dressed. I wouldn't have enough time for a shower, as the train left at 7:10.
"How far is the station from your house?" I yelled from the guest room.
"Walking takes twenty minutes."
I got ready in a fraction of a minute, and my new academy clothes looked kinda good on me. It was a short dress, not body hugging, or baggy, of dark maroon colour. There were matching boots to go along it. They looked really heavy, but they weren't, and their rubber soles didn't make a sound while walking.
Caleb was waiting for me at the door, and I handed him the bigger suitcase, while I hauled the smaller one. "We gotta run," I told him.
He started jogging, while wheeling the suitcase, and I followed in suit. The journey there took forever, and I reached the station by 7:09. I got on the Assassin train, just in the nick of time.
"Aurora, I love you, and I'll see you next year. I love you so much." He said with tears in his eyes.
"I love you too, and I'm going to miss you."
"No goodbye kiss?" He asked cockily.
I kissed him hungrily on the lips, and the train engine roared to life. I pulled away, and he kissed my forehead, "Take care, and wait for me."
"Yeah." I said.
I walked off to find and empty compartment, but I couldn't find any. I was within Assassin kids from three different societies. Our society had only three assassin enrollments this year, but the train had at least forty kids on board.
I walked into a compartment comprising of only one sleeping girl, and her overwhelming amount of luggage. I fell asleep within thirty minutes.
My airways were getting squeezed. My eyes flew open, and I decided to not make rash decisions, but assess my situation. The sleeping girl was holding two fingers on my neck, and she knew exactly where to choke me. She had a smirk on her face.
Rest of her body was pretty much unguarded, and I used my right leg to kick her in the stomach. She faltered, and I pushed her fingers away from my neck. I took a couple of deep breaths, while the girl composed herself, and dug into her luggage. She held up a knife, and my eyes widened.
Disarm her. I heard Caleb's voice in my head. The girl was taller and heftier than me, so my only chance were my fighting skills. I feinted, and actioned to punch her face with my right hand, but landed a blow on her stomach with my left. Her knife nicked my little finger in my right hand, and blood oozed out of it.
"Carbon steel." I muttered. Those had the worst injuries.
The girl laughed at me, and proceeded near me. My running abilities. That was my best bet to get away from this homicidal girl. I fumbled with the compartment door, and I realized she had locked it, and the key was sitting on one of her suitcase.
"Going somewhere?" She said with a sickly sweet voice.
She neared me and I kicked her left shin, then her stomach. She stumbled backwards, and I kicked her hand with the knife with as much power I could muster. I knocked the knife out of her hands, and I stepped on it, so she could not pick it back.
She chuckled, and leaned back, "You won. For now."
"What the fuck do you mean? Are you mental?" I yelled.
She cocked her head to the side, "Didn't you hear? Only thirty five get off this train out of forty two. Figured I might try my luck with you."
"What are you talking about?" Blood drained from my face.
"Only thirty five survive. Seven die." She said slowly. "Gosh, the other society people are really dumb."
"You're a hereditary assassin, aren't you?" I asked.
"Yup." She said popping the p. "You're the dumb bitch with genius parents?"
"I am not dumb." I growled.
She rolled her eyes, "Sure, blondie."
"Give me the compartment keys." I ordered.
"Nope." She smirked.
I held up her knife to her throat, "Give. Me. The. Keys."
"Geez, okay!" She tossed me the keys.
I made sure the lock was properly locked. I could handle this psychotic girl, but the others, I could not physically hold off. So I was stuck with Ms. Obnoxious for four more hours.
I was glaring at her for a quiet two hours. She seemed unfazed by me, and kept that obnoxious smirk on her face. I wanted to wipe it off her heavily makeuped face, but I just sat. Somebody knocked on the door rapidly, "Please open! I don't want to die!"
I looked through the glass, and saw a boy with a broken nose, which was bleeding all over his face. I did consider opening, but I took notice of the guy behind him. He was bulky and I knew if I opened the door, it would be over for me. Neither do I, buddy.
His panicked expression did something to me, and I opened the door. He rushed in, but the bulky guy caught hold of the door just before I could lock it again. He forced it open, and the Ms. Obnoxious tutted at me, "Look what you've done."
"Shut up, and help!" I yelled.
She raised an eyebrow at me, "I should help you kill my cousin?"
Of course these crazy people were related. I kicked the guy in the face, but that didn't even make him stagger, instead he just grabbed my foot and twisted it. The broken nose guy, kicked the bulky guy in the balls, and I seized my leg back. It hurt like hell, but I knew I could still run. "Do you know how to run?" I asked the broken nose guy.
"Yeah." He said, and I grabbed him by his arm, and pulled him out of the compartment and I started running faster than a horse. I opened the first door I could find, and it was the bathroom door. The broken nose guy came in, locked the door, and I sighed in relief.
He cleaned his bloodied nose, and winced in pain. We stood in the bathroom for fifteen minutes, before he introduced himself.
"Thanks for saving me back there. I thought I was as good as dead. I'm Samuel." He extended his hand.
I didn't shake it, considering the amount of blood stains that still marked his hand. "I'm Aurora." I plainly said.
After a good deal of time, the train whistle blew, and I figured, that we had successfully reached. I drew a sigh of relief, and so did Samuel.
He went to open the bathroom door, and in one swift motion to his neck, he was killed by the bulky guy. I shrieked. Then a guy walked onto the train. "Okay, no more killing. Nine are already dead, and we can't lose more people."
I went back to the compartment to grab my suitcases, and get the hell out of this train. My heart was still hammering in my ears. The scene of Samuel just crumpling to the ground kept replaying in my head. I leaned back and tried to control my breathing, but I couldn't.
"Getting cold feet?" Ms. Obnoxious snickered.
Get a grip, Aurora. You signed up for this. I chided myself, and rushed out of the train.
Thirty three of us arrived at the Academy, and they didn't spare a moment. I was starving, but they didn't give us food, instead they told us to undress.
"Undress?" I asked.
The man was clearly annoyed, "Yes, blondie, undress."
All thirty three kids undressed, and considering there were only nine girls, it was the most embarrassing thing ever. I didn't have a crazy fit body like any of the girls, I'm not even trying to compare myself to the guys. All I had to boast was a flat stomach. They were taller than me, and were obviously stronger.
Caleb for your sake, please don't come here. I don't even know if you'd survive the train ride here. For my sake, well, I'm already in too deep. I silently prayed.
A man walked towards me, and took my measurements. It was the most unnerving thing ever. I quickly grabbed my clothes, and rushed to the exit to get my room assignments.
I got my room number, room seven, and my roommates names. Scarlett Johnson and Raven Davis. Please don't let it be Ms. Obnoxious.
When I opened the door, I saw Ms. Obnoxious. I mentally winced. "Hi! I'm Scarlett and you are?" She cheerfully said without looking at me.
"Oh you." She darkly said and turned away.
I groaned, and took the top bunk, as Scarlett had already occupied the bottom one. The bottom one was the safest, as you could just get out of bed and run from danger, but I figured the top one was better than the middle one.
I was putting away my things in one of the three wardrobes provided to us. Scarlett kept glaring at me, and I kept glaring back. After the horrendous day, all I wanted to do was sleep like a zombie, but with this psycho as my roommate, I wan't safe at all.
"Oh relax," She said out of the blue, "I can't do anything to you. My brother has taken quite a liking towards you."
"The bulky killer?" I asked.
She chucked, "No, my twin brother."
"That makes me feel so much better." I replied sarcastically.
I lay on the bed, staring at the letter Caleb had written for me when he was eleven. I loved it so much. I loved him so much.
"Whatcha looking at?" Scarlett nosily asked, climbing up to my bed.
Before I could snatch the letter away, she had already read the first bit. She can't just try to kill me, then out of the blue, be my friend.
"Ooh, blonde girl has a lover. Archer's not going to like this at all." She squealed like one of those hormonal teenagers.
"What is wrong with you?! You can't just act like my friend now!" I said.
"Is this because I tried to kill you?" She asked.
"Yes, bipolar bitch!" I yelled as the door swung open. A girl with brown hair and brown eyes walked in. She looked an awful lot like Scarlett.
"Hey cuz." Scarlett casually said.
Is every fucking person this girl's relative?! I'm so screwed.
"So bestie," Scarlett continued talking to me, "Tell me more about lover boy."
Raven looked like she could kill me with her bare hands, so I just told Scarlett that I was tired and I wanted to call it a day. I realized I could not get myself in trouble with Scarlett or her family, or Caleb would find my blood splattered when he came here.
