after an awfully exhausting hour of the many students and decorators setting up the huge party house, all of it looked perfect from both hao and mei's orders.

the decorators left and the guards from mei's house and yuta all started to arrive, making sure no one would come in early unless it was someone that mei or hao had invited early.

on the top floor (which was the third floor), was a private area that only mei had access to and where the iconic 'mei's hoes' (without yujin, unfortunately) group and 'potential tiktok thirsttrappers' group were getting ready.

they took this time to all get to know each other, especially the reunion of the chinese friends – the 'native koreans' groupchat after an incredibly long time. everyone was already warming up and talking to one another as mei was in a room with hao.

thankfully the party was starting in five minutes, and there was already people lining up outside. mei made sure to do bag checks and some other small security checkups to make sure everyone would be safe tonight. she was hoping it'd go well.

once mei walks out of the bathroom, hao looks up from his phone and stands up as soon as he sees her. "you look pretty." he smiles, "like really really pretty. i'd never think i'd see you in a blue dress."

"i know right!" she laughs, making his eyes roll at her response. "but you also look really good i don't think i can look at you." she turns around to the full sized mirror. "we look good, it's sad that you're already older than me now."

he chuckles, patting her head carefully. "you only have to wait a few hours, calm down." he says before kissing the top of her head.

she leans back in offence. "you always wanna kiss me anywhere but my lips."'she complains, hitting his chest lightly. "hao i'm hurt."

he rolls his eyes. "i would but i don't wanna ruin your makeup, dumbass." he pulls her body back straight. "you're so needy."

"i honestly don't give a flying fuck, and what if i am?" she shrugs, tiptoeing to peck his lips and immediately running out of the room to act like nothing happened.

they were pretty silly people despite the fact they've kissed multiple times already. it was giving year 7 couple that broke up after three hours honestly, the two had to stop getting so nervous everytime.

mei squeals as she spots the four girls who looked undeniably gorgeous. "oh my god you guys need to marry me right now." she laughs.

time skip – after the party started

bodies filled the rooms endlessly, and the kaleidoscopic illumination of the walls painted the house beautiful hues to set the mood.

mei had already made a few friends – she had gotten closer with jimin and met her friend eunsoo, but they had disappeared after one small conversation. next, she had befriended a younger girl called yunhee, who mei undeniably had a friend crush on.

the music was deafening to the guards outside who struggled with hearing the names of the students who wanted to come in. the huge amount of people lining up without even knowing what was going on inside was also crazy.

all of the rooms that weren't private were occupied with either a group or a person, leaving maybe thirty in the main area with the dance floor.

it was definitely a good time so far, and both mei and hao parted their ways at the beginning to make sure the party was going well and that no one was in danger or that there was no issues.

mei was already pretty tipsy from a cup or two and she stumbled around her party house whilst greeting people and talking to girls from her old school. 

meanwhile, hao was sober. he watched over his friend group who were in the living room attempting to play chinese whispers except taerae started complaining that jiwoong was breathing in his ear too much.

"why did you just tell me to kill myself?" a drunk matthew shouts in offence, covering his ear after ricky had just whispered in it.

"i didn't!" ricky defended. "i said...." the boy began to mouth whatever the fuck the answer was, and hao couldn't be bothered to even try guess what it was.

gunwook and hanbin were having some sort of deep talk right next to him, and the sight of anyone else he knew was no where to be seen.

well until he saw youngjae walking towards him.

"hey." he waves, seeming somewhat tipsy but still not out of his mind. "why do you look so sad?" he asks his old friend.

hao sighs, not even knowing that youngjae would be here, despite remembering mei telling him that he was coming in the first place. he thought it would be a bad idea but he waved back to make sure youngjae didn't try fight or argue with him.

"i'm not." hao replies flatly, not really wanting to engage in a conversation with his ex bestfriend.

youngjae sighs. "want a drink?" he offers, lifting his red cup with a titled brow. "you'll feel better."

"hao!!!!!!" a loud female voice shouts, and the two already recognised it as mei's voice. he notices that she was already drunk from the way she couldn't even walk in a straight line to him.

hao gets up and ignores youngjae, immediately walking over to the struggling girl. "how do you drink at your own party." he tuts.

mei stretches her arms out to bring hao into a hug. "i missed you." she says softly, pushing him to the other side of the room.

he was shocked from her sudden strength and how they were now alone at the back of the living room. mei was still hugging him and attempts to kiss him, in which hao swerved to. "mei you're drunk."

she shrugs, trying to push the five foot eleven boy towards the sofa. "comeeee!!!" she shouts, trying to push him away.

hao sighs. "i'll help you, do you want to sit down?" he lets go of their hug and holds onto her arms to bring her towards the sofa.

he was slowly guiding the as she didn't make any complaints or sounds. he carefully brings her closer to the empty sofa on their left, still trying his best to keep her stable.

she then trips over something and accidentally pushes hao onto the sofa like one of those kdrama scenes. "oh whoops!" she didn't even think to care as she giggles. knowing her it was definitely intentional.

hao was surprised and felt his heart beating rapidly already. "mei.. um.." he stutters (i'm not writing a stutter kys) whilst carefully trying to push her off of him slightly. "don't do that."

"why?" she cries, holding onto his waist tightly. "do you not like me?" she carries on rambling as she was basically caging him with her arms.

he didn't respond as he felt awkward from how strong her grip on him was. he wasn't used to actually having to deal with a drunk mei, ever.  sure, he's seen it a few times, but to see it in person when they're now comfortable with each other was nerve wrecking for him.

she's tried to kiss him many times by now, and the fact she was heavily drunk stopped him from trying anything. he did slightly enjoy how she was being much more comfortable and flirtatious, but not when he was fully sober.

"hao come on i really like you, stop pushing me away.." she slurs at him, slapping his chest. "at least give me a chance or something."

"um.." he sighs again, finally extricating himself from mei's grip and he gets up to think about whatever the fuck just happened.

now that he knows that mei likes him, and also that she's incredibly drunk, he doesn't want to go through confessing to a drunk person while sober again (hanbin confession trauma).

so what dumb idea was it for the top student with the strictest parents to walk to the indoor bar and get himself a drink with alcohol in it? "i'll be back." he smiles, giving her a reassuring nod before immediately walking away, having a very risky and stupid plan in mind.

the plan being: if we're both drunk and i won't remember it then it's fine.

(a/n most of the time this isn't fine but for the sake of this part of the book we'll let it off. also the guiding a drunk person happened to me with my crush once #tmi xx)

as hao was away, mei fell off of the sofa and attempted to stand up from the ground – which failed from the fact she bumped into someone's legs.

"mei?" hanbin laughs, holding onto her shoulders. "you're fucking wasted aren't you?" he kneels down in front of her straight away.

mei randomly hugs hanbin and stretches her legs out in front of him. "hanbin i'm sorry.." hanbin was very aware of mei's emotions when she was drunk however he was definitely taken aback and tilts his head, trying to figure out if she was already crying or not.

"why are you crying?"

she hiccups. "i was so horrible to you, after everything you did for me." she slurs, making hanbin laugh a little.

"why are you still worrying? i'm fine now." he shakes his head, knowing the two have had this conversation a little too many times now.

"no you aren't." she cups his face. "i hurt you."

he got warm and took her cold hands off of his face. "mei, calm down."

hanbin continued sat on the floor with mei ranting to him about fuck all, a few confessions here and there that hanbin was never aware of.

the people who continuously came in and out of the room didn't even notice the hugging duo on the floor, hanbin's arms were strong around her and she was just cupping his face.

they took a few shots together and spent a while having a long talk, mostly about hao and the party. mei had also slipped out her 'expensive gift' for the boy. "i really really really really like hao..." she whispers.

hanbin saw how her phone buzzed, and checked it to see messages from hao. and since hanbin did know mei's password now for some reason, he opened it and gave it to mei. "go text him and tell him already."

"i have." mei takes the phone from hanbin and stares at the message blankly, still attempting to properly read the blurred messages along with try reply.

"just do it again. from everything you've told me you already like each other so hurry and find him." he says calmy, yet feeling a small pang in his heart. hanbin may be over them now but it still was painful to witness.

"hao!!!" she runs towards him exuberantly, accidentally pushing him into the corner as she tries to hug him without worrying about their surroundings. "you left me for so long."

hao was now somewhat drunk for the first time and looked more confident than usual. "hiiii!" he slurs with a laugh. even drunk mei knew this was an odd sighting of hao as her mouth was wide open by smelling the alcohol on him.

"i have something to tell you." she says, opening her phone to check the time. "wait it's almost my birthday!" she points at the 23:58 on her phone and looks back at hao.

he nods, his arms finding their way around her and he pulls her towards him. "i didn't even get to see you much as a birthday boy." he whines, although they were together the whole day.

"well i'm about to be the birthday girl so suck it up." she shrugs. yet they were both enjoying the moment of being with each other and the bright hues on their faces.

the drunken lovebirds stayed at the corner of the room, thinking no one could see them. mei's hands were basically all over him and she couldn't stop giggling over every single word he said.

hao cups her face. "it's almost your birthday." he whispers, pointing at a wall. "look at the clock." he turns her figure around to face the wall that in fact did not have a clock but a painting.

she gasps and turns back to him. "what clock?" she laughs, turning on her phone and the time was now 23:59. "it basically is my birthday now."

once he sees on mei's phone that it was now twelve in the morning of july twenty sixth, he pushes her body closer into the corner. "happy birthday, i like you." he whispers before drunkenly pulling her into a messy kiss. not to mention the way he snuck in a confession.

mei wasn't expecting such a move as soon as her birthday started, but she didn't even care as she obviously kissed him back. now zhangmei has had their third kiss, and probably many more to come today if this was only the beginning.

the only sad part was that it was a school morning, and most guests would be leaving by one or two am, including hao. she knew that everyone wanted to sleepover but she wasn't sure if the top student would want to.

"happy birthday mirae!" a chorus of intoxicated laughter erupted after the clock struck midnight on her birthday. she was surprised to hear it so suddenly but didn't think to stop kissing zhanghao.

both of their heads and hearts pounded in sync, being later distracted from the simultaneous screams and shouts of mei's name. they still carried on, immediately forgetting the situation of people looking for her and shouting around the house just to find her.

but it looked like someone had found them first. "oh my god are they making out?" a loud voice shouts, bringing all of the attention to the back corner of the living room where the two were.

everybody started to freak out at the sight of the top students making out right in front of them. however, someone's phone was recording them – or what mostly looked like live streaming.

"is that mirae and hao???" he shouts into the phone mic to try be louder than the music that was already blasting.

he watched the views skyrocket to almost a thousand, and the comments being filled with concern, support, hate, confusion and shock. things such as "this was unexpected" or "bad influences, shouldn't be drinking on a uni day" or rational things like "i don't think you should be recording this."

the two weren't aware of the commotion and continued to kiss. mei broke apart and suddenly her lips started moving to his jaw, but she comes back up to him and whispers. "i really like you."

hao giggles. "i really like you too." he slurs, even though he was the first to confess already, peppering her face with kisses. "you're so cute."

they were clueless, absolutely clueless to the iphone camera pointing right at them with everyone cheering and clapping in the background.

everyone was still screaming over them, and the guards outside were just thankful the area the party house was located wasn't near many people. because if it was, the noise complaints would've gone crazy.

hao let out another "i like you." that was heard by the crowd, which also meant it was heard by everyone else who was watching the live video. mei giggles and says the confession back.

at this point you'd think people would be bored and finally leave them alone, or that the live views decreased. but they only got higher and almost all people who were at the party were here.

the red cups were in the air as hype songs were playing and the energy in the room was definitely at its peak when there was a side view of the two. especially how no one was slow to realise the fact that her lips weren't on his lips anymore and that they were on his jaw instead.

mei and hao were still oblivious to everyone was cheering and didn't hear any sound until they hear a loud noise as if something had dropped onto the floor – and yes, they got distracted over a dropping sound, not the screaming students.

renjun sighs as he picks up the phone and starts mumbling to it drunkenly, the only words anyone was able to decipher was "fuck off" , "zhangmei" and "don't send this around."

but anyway, it was said that renjun (who was the only sane drunk person out of the crowd) ended the live video by throwing youngjae's phone onto the floor.

but nonetheless, the crowd were still congratulating and celebrating the fact the two well-known students were still kissing in front of them. it felt almost euphoric.

once the live ended and the crowd dispersed, mei
and hao break apart from loss of breath. she groans as she slides down the wall onto the floor helplessly. her head began to ache and he arms wrap around hao's arm as he follows her down on the floor.

"are you two dating???" junhee, who was the drink provider (and definitely the most wasted person here) asks as he points back and forth between the two.

mei nods without hesitation, giggling to herself since hao was in a daze already. "we always have been!"

at this moment, the two weren't worrying at the fact everyone had just saw them have a silly makeout.

time skip — the next morning
(also a few hours later)

hao's eyes open in panic. he slowly looks at his surroundings and finds mei sprawled across his body with her arns wrapped around him tightly.

he sighs, not remembering a thing from the night before and he began to worry if he had done anything stupid or accidentally said something that he shouldn't of.

normally his first morning instinct would be to check his phone, but mei was still sleeping soundly and he wouldn't want to wake her up on a uni day since she was moving back tomorrow.

he looks down at her and moves the hair out of her face carefully, trying his best to make sure she doesn't wake up. her makeup was still on and he somehow knew that her false lashes were still on. hao slowly took her lashes off and sets them to the side.

even though her makeup was definitely melted now, he still found her really pretty in the mornings – including the last time she was drunk and slept in the same room a him.

mei began to move, and it scared him as he thought he had woken her up already. he panicked and stayed still as she wiggled around a little before opening her eyes slowly.

"oh." was the first thing she says. she chuckles and pokes his cheek, making him look down at her in surprise. "good morning? i think?"

hao sighs. "did i wake you up? oh and good morning, and happy birthday ." he smiles as she sits up a bit, her face slightly hovering his.

"thank you." she chuckles then shakes her head while running her hand through his hair. "i don't remember a single thing but we're together." she snorts. 

he rolls his eyes. "i don't remember either, my head hurts so fucking much."

"aw, first hangover." she laughs mockingly, continuing to play with his hair. "well you have uni today, so i'd suggest you start getting ready."

he rolls his eyes. "thanks for reminding me." he says sarcastically as he sits up and stretches his arms. "i don't even know the time."

she shrugs. "yuta'll be downstairs, you can talk to him. i want to go back to sleep now." she huffs before falling back down on the bed.

hao chuckles before leaning down and pressing his lips on her forehead. "you're moving back now, shame. and it's your birthday today too."

she whines. "stop it now. just go already." she whisper-shouts before pointing something out. "oh and your phone is there." she points at the iphone that was sitting right on her bedside table.

he nods and picks it up. "thank you, i'll visit you later okay?" he smiles as he finally stands up and stretches for the second time.

"mhm." she tiredly reaches her arm out as a goodbye. "don't cry in uni without me!"

he scoffs. "you wish!" he teases before giving her a genuine smile and walking out. he was a bit sad that he had to go to university without the girl starting from now, but his hangover was his biggest concern. especially how his parents would react?

well it's not like they know he was drinking anyway, right?

as he walks down the stairs, he checks all of his notifications from the nights before and there was almost thousands to his surprise. but, hao's whole body freezes at the notifications from his dad that were sent a few hours ago when he was asleep.

he ran out of the room and realised it was only eight in the morning, his first lecture was in two hours yet he didn't remember a thing from the night before, and now his parents know something that he probably doesn't.

he didn't even care what happened for him to wake up whilst hugging mei, or the fact he was extremely hungover; he was more worried on what his dad had sent him earlier.

he gulps, not even daring to open the message and he groans in pain from the headache. this was his first hangover, and it definitely will be his last after the events from earlier.

hao looks around to try see if anyone else was awake in the awfully messy yet quiet house. he didn't even care to look at his appearance and carefully walked down the stairs to make sure his steps wouldn't make a noise.

once he reaches the bottom, he meets eyes with mei's driver – yuta, who was awake on his phone looking like he hasn't slept in 15 years (which could be the case if you're working for mei).

"oh hao." he smiles, standing up. "do you need anything? food? a shower? clothes?" he walks towards the younger slowly whilst bombarding him with questions.

hao shrugs. "i want to go home, but i need to make it look like i didn't just drink."

yuta chuckles, patting hao's back. "leave it all to me, i have a room here and you can use anything you want in there." he says as he points at the ceiling. "top floor, blue door with a 'Y' on it. it should be empty. shower, use my clothes or whatever, i don't mind."

hao nods. "thank you, has no one else woken up yet?" he asks before taking a step onto the stairs, worried that he'd have an awkward interaction with anyone. "or is it just me here?"
