~Chapter Seven~

"How exactly do you use your wings?" Asked Olivia, curiously.
"I don't really know..." Huffed Lukas, his breathing fast and shallow. "Last time I used them was before the witherstorm attack- so..."
"What powers did you say you had Jesse?"asked Petra. "Because if you can only make tulips appear, than that's some pretty weak bull-MMPH!"
Jesse had caused dark vines to construct Petra, blocking her from saying anymore.
"Never-" growled Jesse."Underestimate my element."
She loosened the vines, sending Petra collapsing to the ground- gasping for air.
"God, Jesse..." She coughed, standing up. "You can really... Strangle someone with that..."
Jesse smiled, turning her gaze to a trembling Lukas.
She hugged him, making him smile faintly.
"You're okay. You've got this- just remember that we won't let anything bad happen to you." Soothed Jesse, breaking away from her husband.
Olivia smiled, anticipating Lukas flying.
How did the mechanics work?
Was there a different way?
Did birds do the same thing?!
"HURRY UP!" Snapped Axel, scaring everyone.
"S-sorry..." Sighed Lukas, planting his feet firmly on the ground.
"It's okay. Have a nice flight."
"Have. Nice... WAIT AXEL- AHHHH!"
TNT exploded, the shockwave causing Lukas to soar into the air.
He tried to desperately flap his wings, one of them working. He hovered for a solid two seconds, but an awful crack ran through the hallway, making Lukas yelp.
"GUYS!" Yelled Lukas's, falling to the stone floor. "AHHHHHHH!"
He kept trying to flap his wings, but failed, plummeting to the ground.
Petra and Olivia quickly pulled out a net- (don't ask me- I honestly don't care. I just don't want Lukas to splat on the ground, okay?) stretching it out just as Lukas hit the ground.
He hit it, the surface stopping him from  possibly dying.
Lukas groaned, his eyes squeezed shut.
Petra and Olivia slowly layer the net on the ground.
He coughed, curling up in a ball.
"Lukas!" Cried Jesse, rushing to his side.
He had reopened his cut, blood surrounding the soft feathers- and blood smeared on the ground.
Bone stuck out of part of the top of one of his wings, causing the others to look away.
"I- I'm fine...." He croaked, wincing.
"No. You're not!" Gasped Jesse.
Jesse whipped her head around, glaring at Axel.
"AXEL!" She spat, tears streaming down her face. "I DIDN'T APPROVE OF YOU SHOOTING LUKAS INTO THE AIR!"
Axel turned red, guilt clouding his eyes.
He knew he had crossed the line.
He and Lukas have always been at it- despising each other for unspoken reasons.
Axel would always play around, hating the little blond guy.
But he never meant for this to happen.
"I-I'm sorry..." Gulped Axel, cowering down. "I didn't mean to-"
"SORRY-" spat Jesse. "DOESN'T HELP LUKAS!"
Lukas smiled, his eyes looking dazed.
"Jess..." He purred. "Jesse...... You look pretty..."
Jesse forced a smile, sniffling.
Petra frowned.
"Not cool, Axel." She growled. "Not cool."
Even Olivia walked away from him.
"You just RUINED OUR ONLY CHANCE OF SAVING JESSE AND LUKAS'S KIDS!" Spat Petra, attacking the wall again.
"THIS IS A LOAD OF BULLCRAP!" She screeched, stabbing the wall with her sword.
(Btw, I don't know anything about medical stuffs. K? We good? Don't attack me in the comments- alright? Thanks.)
Olivia-who seemed to have everything in her backpack- took out a bandage.
She looked at Lukas, not even knowing where to start.
Probably the bone.
She wrapped the bandage as tightly as she could around the sticking out bone, causing Lukas to moan in pain.
"Stop it, you're hurting him!" Hissed Jesse, angrily.
"Jesse, I had to treat it someway..." She huffed, looking down at he already blood-soaked bandage.
Or maybe just make it worse...
"I'm fine, guys..." Said Lukas, sounding like he was drunk. "Really..." He forced himself to stand.
"See? I... I'm totally... I'm completely... Fine..." He fell to the ground again, causing Jesse to yelp.
Axel had seen enough of this.
He felt awful.
He had crossed a line, and he felt the guilt eating away at him.
He couldn't bear to see Jesse at the brink of tears- he always though of her as a sister, and he always tried to protect her.
But she didn't need his protection when Lukas came along- and that's probably why he hated him.
"I-I promise I'm going o make this up to you, Jesse..." He sighed, feeling tears gathering his eyes.
She glared at him, her eyes filled with hatred.
"No." She growled. "You're going to stay here with Lukas. Olivia, Petra, and I are going after my kids."
Axel raised his eyebrow, shocked.
"You want me... To watch your husband?"
"Think of it as my gift to you..." Spat Jesse, picking up her sword.
Olivia and Petra walked through the portal, causing the watery surface to ripple.
"Oh- and expect some weird crap..." She smirked. "Lukas always gets too hyper when he's drunk, and since he's lost a lot of blood-" she looked back at Lukas, who's head was bleeding as well. "It's gonna be a hell of a ride for you."
She disappeared through the portal, leaving a very confused Axel and a very loopy Lukas behind.

...

I looked at my light grey wings, spreading them out gently.
I tried flapping them, causing myself to hover in the air.
Maybe this wouldn't be that bad...
After all- I've always wanted to fly.
A door opened, Nick walking in.
His wings looked darker- seeming to suck in all the light in the surrounding area.
I felt the flames in my hair grow bigger, making my face warm.
"Ella..." He purred, using my name with such carelessness, it was like he was addressing a monster. "You have such beautiful wings..."
I stood up straight, remembering what little I could recall of the self defense my parents taught me.
I stood tall, my fists clenched.
"Now, now..." He cooed. "Let's not be like that..."
"What do you want?!" I spat, every ounce of me hating him.
"You know..." He sighed, bringing my chin up with his hand. "I always loved you. I still think it's unfair that my father's doing this."
His face was inches from mine, disgusting me.
"Do you still love me?" He asked.
I though about it.
Maybe this could get me out of this hell.
"Of course..." I forced a smile. "Everybody makes mistakes....."
"But could you break my shackles?" I asked, putting on a pouty face. "They kind of hurt..."
"Oh! Uh... Sure..." He smirked, breaking my shackles.
"Thank you..." I giggled.
He smiled, making me feel more disgusted.
I leaned in to kiss him.
I squinted my eyes open, seeing his shocked face.
It quickly faded, and he leaned in to kiss me-
When I punched him in the face.
Hard.
He fell to the ground, seeming dazed.
I felt fireballs gather in my hands, and I loomed over him, seeing my fist branded on his jawline.
He looked up at me, shocked.
"I'd rather die-" I spat. "Than kiss you."
I threw a fireball, making it barely miss his head.
He screamed, covering his face.
"P-please... D-don't k-kill me..." He pleaded. "I'll... I'll to anything."
I raised my eyebrows.
"Anything?" I purred.
His eyes grew wide with fear.

...

Five minutes later, I had the key to the room clutched in my hand, and the pleading face of Nick burned into my head- right before I had shackled him to the wall.
I walked out of the room, contempt rising inside of me.
