~Chapter Four~
Their kin the one for the legendary brawl.
Kin?
As in family?
I'll have to fight family?
I don't know anybody called Priscilla...
Especially somebody related to me...
"Our kingdom has been in trouble for a while... We tried to contact your parents to come help- but they refused..." Nick folded in his wings, pulling a jacket over them. "They didn't want you two girls to get pulled into this..."
I thought about my parents.
They wouldn't be fire or water... Or we would have been burned before...
So they must be...
"Do you know what elements our parents are?" Asked Mia, concern clouding her eyes.
They can't be...
"Well... Jessica is Earth... And Lukas is Air."
Silence.
Oh my Notch...
My dad has freaking wings?!
He kept this from us?!
No wonder he always wore a jacket...
I looked to Mia, my world turning upside down.
"Dad has wings, and Mom can make tulips appear." Growled Mia, anger flooding her face. "Those assholes!"
They kept this from us...
"You two really didn't know?" Asked Nick, sympathetic.
I shook my head, trying to remember one time that hinted that my parents had elemental powers-
When my head hurt.
Not as bad as before, but enough to make my vision fuzzy.
"Ella!" Gasped Mia, running over to me. "Are you okay?
My head kept hurting, and I didn't answer- lost I'm my thoughts.
I was in my house, looking at two people.
There, stood a guy- with beautiful grey wings. Folded in, they stuck out his shirt, the feathers looking extremely soft.
He had messy blond hair and brilliant blue eyes- and I realized with a jolt that it was my dad.
"Lukas, you can't hide this forever." Sighed my mom, her green eyes sparkling. "Somebody's bound to notice..."
"Jesse- I'll keep it hidden. I never used them anyways... This just kind of helps me."
"Well at least show me... I've been worried about you, Lukas."
"Fine... But don't tell anybody... There's nothing anyone can do to fix it."
Lukas took off his shirt, gently spreading out his dark grey wings.
Jesse's eyes grew wide, and she carefully touched Lukas's shoulder.
On his left wing, was ripped feathers- a huge red cut going completely through it- going almost to the middle and being cut that it destroyed any chance of flying.
Blood was coated thickly on the surrounding feathers, his back splattered with droplets.
"Lukas... Why didn't you tell me?" Asked Jesse, her voice strained.
"I didn't want to scare you... I'm fine- really, I'm fine... I... I just won't be able to fly anymore..."
"Ella!"
I groaned, opening my eyes.
Nick had his arms around me me, and Mia just looked flat-out concerned.
"Ella, did you see anything strange?" Asked Nick, helping me up.
"Yes... I... I saw mom and dad..."
Should I tell them?
"W-what did you see?!" Asked Mia.
"Oh... I just.... I just saw them when they were... Like.. In their teens." I sighed, rubbing my head.
"You're gaining another power...." Mumbled Nick, dumbfounded.
"What?!" I perked up, scared.
""You wouldn't have been able to remember our parents in their teens... We weren't born yet." Growled Mia.
"But I saw them!" I objected.
"You're probably getting your earth powers..." Sighed Nick. "It's probably going to be your second ability."
Mia crossed her arms, looking jealous.
And I could see why.
"I've been waiting for you two... You're the ones from the prophecy... And you'll help to save us." Said Nick, with absolute certainty. "We have to go. Now."
"What? Why?!" Snarled Mia, glaring at Nick.
He looked at him- and I realized that he had the same color eyes as my dad.
Didn't Nick say something about your eyes telling your element?
"Doesn't your eye color tell your element?" I asked, curious.
"Yeah... There's about a TON of people with sky-blue eyes... But the colors fade if you loose your ability."
I remember how my mom's eyes are a brilliant emerald green, and how I never noticed it before- but my dad's eyes were blue and faded to grey.
"Why do we have to go now?" I asked.
"Because the people have been waiting for years..." Huffed Nick, his wings completely hidden underneath his jacket. "And you're the only two who can stop her."
...
The leaves crunched beneath our feet, the stone road stretching out across the middle of the town.
We were heading to the temple- the place where the Order had their first adventure.
"Do you know why your parents left us?" Asked Nick, sounding angry.
"No... I didn't even know they lived anywhere besides here." I huffed, kicking a rock.
"There's a lot of things we didn't know..." Growled Mia.
"The reason your parents left was unknown..." Huffed Nick, adjusting his jacket. "We didn't even know they had children until the prophecy..."
"I have a question." Said Mia, cutting him short.
"Shoot." Said Nick, smiling.
"Okay... So... You said that our parents left. Where exactly did you guys live? I mean- where's your kingdom?"
"Well... I don't know exactly where... But I do remember them visiting again when the city in the clouds got under attack." Muttered Nick, suddenly angry.
My head... It started hurting again...
"I won't bother you guys ever again... I'll probably just become a writer or something... Heh..."
Fire. Flaming landscape and shackled townspeople. A woman with a chicken, a man with a red dress shirt and orange hair, and a man in a golden uniform with a black mustache.
"You thought you could get rid of me." Snarled a man, his voice sharp.
"You thought that I would go away."
The townspeople looked up at him, pain in their eyes.
I looked at the man's face.
Stubble lined his chin, and his olive-green eyes had fiery hatred in them.
He was wearing a tattered jacket with blaze rods on the back of it, and his green shirt and pants looked ripped with scratches.
A girl stood to his right, her green eyes stone cold.
I looked at the man, recognizing him...
But I couldn't place it until...
"You killed my friends." He spat. "You killed my wife, and you threatened to kill my daughter... But I knew better.."
He looked down at the townspeople.
"You are all under my control now.." He hissed, crossing his arms.
Oh my notch...
I was looking into the fiery eyes of Aiden- my uncle.
