Generation Gaps

When my Father was a teen, things were so much different. Television did exist and radio, if even had access didn't play anything close to the music he would grow to love. I think it was first termed "Race Music", later known as " Rhythm And Blues".
His parents couldn't understand his generation. His Grandparents didn't understand his parents' generation, for whatever reason they had.
When it came to be my generations turn to be misunderstood I think we did a great job of it. Watching my child grow up I am beginning to understand that each generation has to stand on their own. I wonder if my child will consider the offspring of his generation to be disrespectful.
It seems that as time goes by and technology changes more rapidly, the gap between generations grows wider. Can it be that we just can't see how close we really have been, generation to generation, since time began?
