The night was young, his desire to knock on death's door was at a low, and his boredom was at an all-time high. So, Virgil decided he'd take the advice his roommate had offered him all those many months ago- and go out on the town for a change. It didn't take but a few minutes of using a search engine and a double-check to make sure he had the necessities (phone, wallet, keys; all present and accounted for) before Virgil was out the door and headed downtown.
Logan and Virgil had been roommates for nearly eight months already, and in that time Virgil went outside his prescribed course to work, the store, and class exactly zero times. On the contrary, Logan had managed to find time in his jam-packed schedule to visit a cafe and befriend a few individuals that kept pulling him out of the apartment on the weekends. Granted, the older roommate claimed to not be a "fan of such frivolous ventures," but there seemed to be one member of the group Logan had a hard time saying no too- including the fact that he'd taken to attempting to coerce Virgil to meet said friend group.
At present, Virgil was teetering on the edge of agreeing- but if he did, that would be next weekend Virgil's problem. Since Logan had taken this weekend to go back home to celebrate his younger sister's birthday, it allowed Virgil one free weekend of not being asked to accompany Logan to meet this group of quasi-strangers. So Virgil would use this weekend- and get absolutely hammered.
That was the intention at least, as he walked up to the bar at the nearest gay bar (oddly named Sparkling Nights) with a decently high rating. The name had seemed vaguely intriguing so he was curious as to what theme the place would be- but it seemed like a run-of-the-mill, normal-as-fuck, gay bar. Which, actually didn't bug Virgil in the slightest. Instead it made him feel a little more relaxed despite the outrageously loud music pounding against his eardrums.
Calling the attention of one of the three working bartenders, Virgil decided to start his night with a hard cider. It had been a while since he last drank, and he wasn't sure which way the night would go, so he figured he'd start small and make decisions based upon how he felt. That thought in his mind, he quickly requested a water as well- he did not intend to have a nightmare hangover tomorrow, no matter how much he drank tonight.
"So, what brings a pretty little thing like you here?" A guy with a tight green v-neck shirt saddled the seat to his left, tilting his head as he inquired.
Virgil resisted the urge to roll his eyes and instead allowed the bite in his words to do the eye-rolling for him, "The alcohol, clearly." He raises his glass to his lips as he turned to face the bar fully, the dance floor behind him be damned.
"Now, now, don't be like that, clearly you know what kind of place this is." There was a dancing lilt to the other man's voice, but Virgil wasn't going to play into another's game so easily.
A glance to his side and a gentle gesture of his glass, Virgil amiably replied, "A bar."
There was a slight indignant splutter of incoherent sentence fragments before a chuckle could be heard from Virgil's right and another man sidled up to the stool there, "I've never seen someone have Re shut down that quickly before."
Virgil had to do a double take. The man to his right was an exact copy of the one on his left (Re?), only instead of green, he was wearing a deep red shirt and the v-neck plunged just a little bit deeper. "What am I surrounded by? The sinful twins?"
The two laughed, the green-laden one deep enough on his own to send chills down Virgil's spine, but the newer of the two's own laugh seemed to harmonize with that of his brother. There was no way these two were fucking real.
"Sinful..." The one to his right repeated, smirking ever so slightly.
The one to Virgil's left cut in as well, "Lustful..."
Glancing between the two men, Virgil let out a soft sigh before placing his glass down and giving a shrug, "Alright bopsy twins, if you're really going to try for this, we may want to start with names at some point otherwise I'm calling you the green boy and the red one."
A surprised laugh echoed from both men once more, and Virgil found himself relaxing around the duo a bit- as unusual as that is for him (Lord knows it took weeks for him to relax around Logan as much as he had).
"Well, my purple flower, I am Remus." The one to his left stated, leaning into his space just enough to pull Virgil's complete attention to him, "I'm the older brother, and-" he glanced down the visible length of his body, "The one who does the picking."
In a split second, and arm from Virgil's right and found it's way around his lower back as the one in red urged Virgil to face his way, "Now, my little amethyst, I am Roman. While the younger one, I'm certainly not the smaller one-" He paused a second before adding, "You may take that how you please."
"He means his ego." Remus helpfully supplied, trying to redirect Virgil's attention once more.
Roman let out a soft tsk of disapproval before offering the purple and black clad male between him and his twin a charming smile, "May we have a name to call you by, sweetheart?"
There was a moment of hesitation, something that felt like the tension that was in the air between them promised that there could be more to this meeting than just tonight- and th the t was mildly terrifying. Another moment as Virgil paused to take a slow, deep, breath before deciding to sign his name on the bottom of the contract verbally, "I suppose it will be nice to hear it twice as much." He supplied as reasoning to himself, "You boys can call me Virgil."
The last week after that night at the bar seemed kind of hazy. He wasn't sure what it was precisely, although it was almost as though life wasn't as fulfilling as it could be. Virgil's instincts kept going full alert that he was missing something, but he couldn't pinpoint exactly what thing could possibly be.
Saturday rolled around, and Virgil found himself jumping on the opportunity to agree when Logan asked if Virgil would like to come hang out with his friends. So here he was, dressed for an evening of 'hanging out' with a group of people he didn't know from the classmates he attended his biology lecture alongside; as Logan began to list the group they would be meeting by character traits and occupations.
"There's the one who keeps asking me to invite you, he's kind of like the dad of the group; there's two brothers who own some type of business- I believe it's a bar, but that has not been confirmed to me yet; there's one who does therapy for a living, brilliant man, but he talks a lot about cartoons I have never seen; there's the one who wears shades all the time that talks a lot but I struggle to follow what he says- too much slang- and there's a few others, but I've rarely spoken to them."
Virgil felt mildly overwhelmed, but he ignored the alarms going off in his head; that is to say, he tried until the doorbell rang and he and Logan answered it. Standing a couple paces back from Logan, Virgil nearly jumped out of his skin as the new face made his way past Logan to grab his hand in a handshake.
"Hi there! I'm Patton! You must be Logan's roommate! It's so great to finally meet you!" The male excitedly rattled off- which was only mildly overwhelming.
"Uh... yeah, hey. I-I'm Virgil...?"
After a few minutes of excited talking, Patton interrupted the whole 'getting-to-know-each-other' conversation with a quick reveal, "Oh! I hope you guys don't mind too much, the boys-" Logan explained later that Patton had meant the brothers from their friend group, "Want us all to meet at their little store-thing. They said they'll save a private room for us so that we won't be bothered by anything else and all that stuff!"
Logan glanced at Virgil, his eyes asking the question of whether Virgil would be able to handle that to which the answer was a (mildly hesitant) nod. As the group finally left the apartment- after Virgil's double-check to make sure he had everything- Patton began going on and on about how the "boys" had seemed slightly off recently and had been spending more time at work than normal, "Which is unusual, because the are somewhat workaholics!"
Virgil only half-listened, he wasn't sure he would be able to add anything into the conversation if asked, but Logan was willing to attempt psycho-analyzing the men in question despite their lack of presence. It was only as they turned the final corner that Virgil looked up and slowly, things clicked into place- there was no way after all, right?
They entered a side entrance, ushered in by someone without a nametag who seemed to know Patton and Logan well enough. As they got settled and more of the group arrived, Virgil was introduced (multiple times), and the group began to relax and joke around about random things. Things that Virgil could barely register because there was no way this could be real- it was just coincidence. Now he could stick around and find out if it was coincidence, or he could make a break for it.
A glance at his phone, and another in Logan's direction, be noted his own shaken confidence before getting up and starting toward the door with the mumbled excuse of, "Bathroom."
Just as he crossed the room; however, the door opened to reveal that coincidence was not the correct term. "Fuck..."
"Flower?"
"Amethyst?"
"I- you guys are- holy shit..."
All at once the twins began rambling over each other but Virgil kept himself together as he noted their concerns were all the same. Finally he held up a hand, "I forgot to leave my number, I'm sorry; when I woke up Monday morning I realized how late it was and I had to get to my class so I kind of just ran for it and my mind was a mess and-"
He found himself cut off by a hug, "I-" Roman started before pausing to look at Remus, "We get it, but we didn't know what to do other than hope you would come back and..."
"We hoped a whole fucking lot."
It was after a moment of this that Virgil was suddenly made aware of their audience behind him as he heard Patton speak up in what sounded like horrified amazement, "There was so many bad words in such a small amount of time..."
Face flushing, Virgil surged forward, burying himself between the twins so that he couldn't be seen by anyone else in the room. Needless to say, this wasn't how he expected to meet his roommates friends.
"So, the twins like sharing?" Remy suddenly called out, suppressed laughter tinting his words.
Logan cleared his throat, "While this was unprecedented I do believe that this could explain a fe-"
There was a nearly silent whine from the hidden figure between the twins and the brothers shared a secret smile, maybe things were about to be different- but no matter where things went from here, they had one silent agreement that they intended to keep.
"Alright, alright, you can analyze the twins all you want, but there are certain things-"
"Things that should be kept private, shall remain private so that all may be comfortable!"
There was a soft huff as Virgil grumbled something under his breath, still failing to acknowledge the presence of everyone else. This was met with simultaneous responses of "What was that Flower/Amethyst?" From the twins.
"I said that this wasn't the impression I imagined I would be making on Lo's friends!"
"We don't mind, kiddo!" Patton suddenly called out, causing Virgil to finally face them all again.
Remy leaned forward again, "Besides, anyone that can tame one of these beasts is already amazing! You can tame both! Like, gurl, tell me your secrets!"
At this Emile gently urged to Remy back into his seat, "You need no encouragement on that front, Rem."
"You're right!" Remy responded, shifting his sunglasses lower as his eyes glinted mischeviously, "Virge, do us all a favor and teach our dear Patton how to get Lo, will ya?"
"You said so many things wrong in that sentence I don't know where to begin wit-" Logan began before the meaning behind the question finally hit him and he looked up at Patton; both of their faces flushing.
It was then that Virgil decided, as he relaxed in the arms of the twins once again; maybe this was the best way to meet Logan's friends after all. Regardless, Virgil knew he wouldn't be leaving until he had both Remus and Roman's phone numbers saved in his phone.
