Track
Lena's PoV
As I left school that day I left another message for Emily. I loved the girl but I could tell this long distance thing was straining us. I sighed, I probably wouldn't get anything until she got back from her project.
I tried to shake it off, it was a big day after all. I loved going to track practice. A lot of people said I was the fastest on the team, but that's only because I worked the hardest for it.
We lined up at the start, out the sound of the whistle, we were off. My mind goes completely blank when I'm running, I had to learn how to do this to keep the memories from coming back. Every time I felt them closing in I ran faster.
I nearly collapsed when I reached the end of the three laps. I was faster then everyone by a long shot, but I was beat. I tried to pay attention to my heartbeat, it was too fast. I did it again. Still struggling to stand I made my way over to my water bottle. My heart wasn't slowing down. I took longer breaths until finely it started to go down. I looked in my bag, shaking my head. I didn't need it.
When I was younger I was told I would need an implant to keep everything working right, but I knew what that would mean if I just gave into that. I've been pushing it off so much, and I wasn't about to let it get the best of me.
I turned back to my team, finished what I already had. I was smiling. Then I felt another pair if eyes on me, I couldn't see where though. I shrugged it off going to meet with the team.
