(Surah Fathiha:3)

الرَّحْمٰنِِِ الرَّحِيْمِ ⚪️

Transliteration: ArRahmanirRaheem
Translation: The Most Gracious, The Most Merciful.

Many times when we come across these words, it's taken lightly. It's just  'yeah Allah is merciful' and usually when it's translated too it gives off almost the same meaning, and Its like there is a repetition...? Though why?

Do you notice common letters in the two words? It's called the root of that letter and for those words it is (ر،ح،م) [ra, ha, m]. They are both are derived from the same root.

It forms 'Rahma ' which means mercy, compassion, sympathy, kindness, pity.
It means: To want what is good, for those who deserve it.

ArRahmanirRaheem; the one who has mercy, the one who shows mercy.

So what's the difference between the two?

Ar-Rahman - It conveys the excessiveness & vastness of the attribute of mercy
    - The Entirely Merciful
    - The Most Merciful; no one else is more merciful than Allah

It is a great amount of mercy; he shows mercy again and again and again. He doesn't show mercy only to some, but he shows mercy to everyone; to every single creature, even to those who do not believe in him. It is out of his mercy and kindness of Allah, that we're able to breathe. It's out of his kindness that we have food to eat, feet to walk with, a house to live in, the ability to speak, an intellect that thinks, the sky that is right above us and the earth that is right beneath us, and many more infinite things.

This is all out of His mercy.

He's merciful to every creature in so many different ways. There are so many species on this planet, some even whom we haven't discovered yet, the different types of fish in the ocean, who we don't even know, exists.... Allah knows about them, and he provides for them.

❗️Did you know? Rahm is also derived from Rahman -> Rahm means the womb of the mother, so what's so special about it?
The womb is where the child grows and he is completely protected, that is where he gets all the nourishment. Completely protects and nourished.

So Ar-Rahman; the one who protects and the one who nourishes his creation, out of his mercy.

Ar-Raheem - This indicates particularity
    - Merciful in particular to, specifically towards

Ar-Rahman: The one who is merciful to his entire creation
Ar-Raheem: The one who has special mercy for his special creation.

The former type of mercy, Ar-Rahman is general. The latter type of mercy, Ar-Raheem is specific.

And who is that specific mercy to?
To only those who deserve it; those who believe and worship in Allah.
- Those who ask for help, assistance from Allah

Ar-Rahman also indicates that He is merciful to everyone in this world, and Ar-Raheem indicates that he'll be specifically merciful to some in the hereafter, those who prove themselves to deserve the mercy of Allah.

Allah gives us so much, much more than we deserve. He takes care of us all. Just imagine, we disobey him and yet he gives us so many things? Despite disobeying him, he doesn't stop taking care of us? Even though we sin? So sometimes when we sin, we feel so guilty and lose hope, that Allah will never forgive us? No! We must seek forgiveness from him and he'll definitely forgive us, from his mercy!

He didn't make the water salty for all our sins;) just look at how much he loves us! We should try to reciprocate it in the best way we can in sha Allah 👍

A/N
The first parts were mostly from an Usthadha I heard from, I tried to convey it accurately as possible. Though in sha Allah, as I keep updating the other Gems, it'll be shorter than this one;) Don't you muslims feel awesome??😍 because we are amongst those Allah entitled special mercy to♥️ so we should be grateful to him, for receiving this awesome blessing;)
Hope this helped! Leave feedback and reflections;)

جزاك الله خير

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركته!
