(Surah Ash-Shu'ara:10-21)
A long awaited update and I'm truly sorry for the delay, but I will try to be consistent IA :)
So for today's gem; I will first give the context and then explain my own reflection about it later on. So these are the verses first:
And [mention] when your Lord called Moses, [saying], "Go to the wrongdoing people -
The people of Pharaoh. Will they not fear Allah ?"
He said, "My Lord, indeed I fear that they will deny me
And that my chest will tighten and my tongue will not be fluent, so send for Aaron.
And they have upon me a [claim due to] sin, so I fear that they will kill me."
[ Allah ] said, "No. Go both of you with Our signs; indeed, We are with you, listening.
Go to Pharaoh and say, 'We are the messengers of the Lord of the worlds,
[Commanded to say], "Send with us the Children of Israel."'"
[Pharaoh] said, "Did we not raise you among us as a child, and you remained among us for years of your life?
And [then] you did your deed which you did, and you were of the ungrateful."
[Moses] said, "I did it, then, while I was of those astray.
So I fled from you when I feared you. Then my Lord granted me wisdom and prophethood and appointed me [as one] of the messengers.
Reflection:
Musa (a) (a.k.a Moses) was a prophet, and he was brought up by the pharaoh.
He accidentally killed a Coptic with a single punch when he tried to separate 2 people from fighting. So he was wanted for murder. But keep in mind that it was an accident :)
Later on Allah had chosen for him to be a prophet and asked him to go convey the message that there's no god but Allah. So obviously, musa(a) was apprehensive. He feared that he would be denied. So that's why he asked for his brother,Harun(a.k.a Aaron), too to be a prophet.
Musa(a) then goes to pharaoh and says to send his clansmen, the Banu Israel to go with him because pharaoh had enslaved them.
At this point pharaoh goes on about the favours he had done to Musa(a). He also reminds Musa(a) of the 'deed' he did.
And one of the learning points for us here is Musa(a)'s response. He didn't deny what he had did, he accepted it and said that he was astray.
But the main point I'm coming towards is what Musa(a) said next- he ran away because he was fearful.
Like, who does that? When you are coming face to face with an enemy, you would never say that 'yeah I was scared of you.' Perhaps one reason that Musa(a) could say this was because as Pharaoh said, they've been living under one roof for many years.
The main reflection I had here is this; Musa(a) has admitted he was scared to an enemy. Once you have something in your mind that makes you feel afraid, then ultimately it will control you. As in, you would not go forth in doing something else and you would always hide behind that fear. Perhaps when Musa(a) admitted that he was scared, a part of him felt free. Like yes, his fear is out there. But now, he's a different person. He was not the person he was back before. He accepted and admitted his fear, and that made him move forward.
Many times there could have been things in our lives that make us afraid of certain things. And we don't want others to think that we are weak. But admitting your fears is not a sign of weakness as it helps one move forward. Yes, Musa(a) ran away before. But he came back. Why did he come back? Because Allah told him to.
His source of strength was Allah, and so should be ours.
Another reason that Musa(a) could have said it is because previously when Allah informed them to convey the message, Allah mentioned that He'd be listening. Same goes for us! Allah is with you!
So conquer your fears and move ahead! Because there's nothing stopping you if you have Allah by your side :)
A/N
This was my own personal reflection so feel free to inform me of anything about it:) would love to learn more!
And another thing I wanted to know is; if everyone knows the story of Musa(a)(Moses)? I went to type the backstory too but thought most might be knowing. If you wanna know about his backstory then let me know in the comments IA, will try to do it ❤️
See y'all soon
