(Surah Al-Isra:53)
'And tell my servants to say that which is best. Indeed, shaitân induces [dissension] among them. Indeed shaitân is ever, to mankind, a clear enemy.'
[17:53]
In the life of today's world- it is considered 'COOL' if you use swear words. It is now considered to just be a norm, to use bad words. Some people say there's nothing wrong with it that they just want to express how they feel.
It's a free world - Thats what they all say.
These are just the excuses people put forth. However, in this verse Allah teaches us a basic etiquette. 'And tell my servants to say that which is best.'
Treat the other person with respect and dignity even if he doesn't deserve it. Because when you disrespect others-you only lower yourself.
Speak good words to the believers and even those who don't believe. Do you know why this simple thing is taught? What is the reason for this? When you use bad words, foul language or vulgar speech; you are basically inviting yourself to a fight with the other person. When you are simply not polite to someone, it'll breed animosity between you and them.
And that is exactly what Shaitân wants. He wants people to fight and argue. He's a clear enemy and loves it when people fight with each other.
A scholar once said this- The mouth is a gift from Allah. When we use it to remember Allah- Why do we use the same mouth for evil? Why would you do something good and clean with something bad and dirty?
You recite the words of Allah - and they are the best words! Then how can you use the mouth for things that are of no good? Foul language has no value in contrast to the words of The Creator. How can both of them come forth from the same place? The best and the worst.
So don't use the sacred place for something that is of no good.

Now I've got two further points to get across. The first will be- people say 'I'm just texting! Not talking.' Well; what is in your heart gets manifested in your limbs. So surely using impure words through texting even doesn't get you out of this. Afterall the mouth and texting are a - means of communication.
The second thing I wanted to add was. Sometimes when ignorant people post on islamic posts/videos etc, they leave hate comments. This doesn't mean that you reply them with the foulest of words you know. I've seen this happening and it's so sad. We are the ambassadors of the best religion! We represent Islam. What are we showing to the people? And if we act this way towards them, then what's the difference between us and a commoner?
