Chapter 57: A Bad Idea
Jungkook held his human close to his body at that moment. He couldn't think of anything else but the guilt that returned to him right after sex. As they lay close to each other, exposed and vulnerable to any thought that could dare to come to mind, Jimin closed his eyes and intertwined his hand with Jungkook. It was no secret that he loved the android very much, he just wanted to tell him at the perfect time in which he had already planned out to confess on the beach.
Jimin valued those beautiful words. To others, it was just a sentence, but to Jimin, it meant so much more. After the parents he loved so much, sent him off to live on his own, Jimin didn't realize he was valuing the words more than ever before. Not to mention, he gave his heart to Yoongi before and only left him to recover after losing him. Jimin came a long way and was glad that those wounds were finally mended. He just never knew it would take looking at Yoongi before him in order to repair the big cavity in his heart in seconds.
On the other hand, loving Jungkook was different. He felt as if he could truly stay with this creation until the end of time even if it wasn't possible for him to live forever like Jungkook could. Love was what hid any other thought and blocked any other fear there could ever be standing in his way. If there was an issue, Jimin just dared to ignore it just to finally keep what he had always longed for and hold onto it until it was really his. There was no way he planned on going through the pain he was put into before.
When safety was all Jimin associated Jungkook with, he closed his eyes to rest, longing to nap and wake up to the android once again. As he did so, Jungkook didn't even notice the second the human closed his eyes. His guilt, uneasy feeling and endless thoughts of Hoseok's words came crashing down on his happiness where he had only longed to stay by Jimin until the end of time. Before, his intentions were different towards Jimin and he believed he changed so much for the man, but that unfamiliar and uncanny feeling he had for some inexplicable reason, left him to feel as if that wasn't good enough to save him from his past.
"I'm not going anywhere... it's just guilt, that's it..." Jungkook thought to himself, biting through all his doubtful thoughts all at once. "Nothing will happen to me and I will stay here with Jimin... that's all that matters..."
Jungkook kept assuring himself as his pink gaze shifted to a grey color, displaying his fear in his eyes until his attention was caught by Jimin, laying there and completely unaware of anything going on in the Android's world. In a second where Jungkook stared at his human, he felt a little envious because he only hoped to be as calm as him.
"I want to be... as calm as him... unbothered and unafraid. I want to be so collected and careless... so perfect and absolutely flawless, how does he do it? How can he do it and not me? Why can't I-"
In a moment where Jungkook caught himself becoming frustrated and envious of Jimin like he always did before, his eyes fell from the red hue and slowly died down to a calming blue.
"No... I shouldn't think that way.... I don't envy him, I don't want to envy him and get jealous of him, I love him... I love him with all my heart and I can't harm him. I can't keep torturing myself like this, it's not what he would like and it's not what I would like. These thoughts... it's all in my head, I need to grow out of the mindset Hoseok and Seokjin put me in," Jungkook thought and continued to watch Jimin as he kept his eyes closed. "But it's too hard..."
After a good while, Jimin was able to take a good twenty minutes to rest. But it was all interrupted when he suddenly came into contact with that bone chilling feeling. The hairs on his neck stood and his body stuck to the bed like glue. In an instance he could feel eyes drag along his delicate and exposed body, Jimin could only think of his android to save him from the horrid gaze detection.
His pale eyelids pulled apart and revealed those innocent brown eyes that looked at the world so fearfully of what hid in it. As his eyes pulled apart after mustering up the courage to look for the source that had been watching him like before, his eyes only met with Jungkook's unsettling blue eyes. Only then, Jimin knew he couldn't ignore that this feeling was so similar to the gaze detection that haunted him so much before.
Of course, it all made sense to Jimin. Jeon Jungkook was the only one he allowed close to him and ever since he met this android, he was being watched almost every night. Jimin didn't want to reach far for a conclusion, but this nerve wracking sensation never dared to leave him until Jungkook's eyes would shift into a charming pink tone. It was those blue eyes of his, those blue eyes he was sure Jungkook would watch him with many times before. But of course, Jimin only hoped he was just crazy enough to accuse Jungkook of such a thing.
"No... that can't be it, I really need to stop coming up with so many weird thoughts! Jungkook would never stalk me and make me feel uncomfortable, he has always wanted to keep me safe. My Jungkook, would never cause me to feel so scared and brush it off like it's nothing. It's just impossible! I won't believe it," Jimin thought while his attention was claimed by Jungkook himself.
This was the desperation to keep his heart safe, that caused him to ignore all the signs and all the red flags. He knew what it was like to feel heartbroken and afraid; he didn't think he was strong enough to go through such a low point in his life again. Even if Jungkook was what he thought he would be, Jimin just wouldn't know how to handle it correctly. In fact, he would have a hard time trying to figure out what to say when all he desires is to keep Jungkook in his life because he was afraid of being left alone again by the one he loves.
"You're beautiful when you sleep too..." Jungkook spoke up in a soft whisper, keeping his blue eyes locked onto Jimin until the tone shifted into the usual pink he would hold when he would look into the sweet brown eyes of his partner. "I couldn't help myself..."
Jungkook's whisper along with the shift in the color of his eyes, left Jimin no longer dwelling on what he thought. Even if it was possible and Jimin could no longer doubt, his longing to be happy was what overcame everything. Jungkook had to be perfect and stay around for Jimin in his life, he just had to.
During the same time, Hoseok kept his eyes latched onto Jungkook's door once again. He has been going through the same thoughts over and over again that his constant thoughts danced around the premise of déjà vu. When there was always something involving Jungkook, Hoseok would always find himself sinking his claw-like gaze onto the nerve-wracking door as if it could speak to him.
"Hoseok... should I be worried?" Taehyung asked, sitting right by Hoseok's side all while the human stepped in and out of another conversation Taehyung was programmed to distract Hoseok with. "Hoseok... you've been silent for an hour now why are you staring at that door?"
"Oh.. I have..." Hoseok spoke to himself. By now, the tears he shed before, remained dried over his sharp face. His tired gaze only dared to pull away once from the glue that kept his attention locked onto the ominous door, finally melted away at the sound of the Android's voice. "You... heard him, he gave me a choice and my answer relies in that room ahead... but I know that's something I just can't bring myself to see... I know what's in there, but do I dare to prove it to myself and wake up?" His voice trembled and his gaze avoided the outline of the door, this was what he feared the most and it was the truth.
In all his days with Jungkook, he would always hold this power over his head, yet, he had no intentions of fully getting rid of him. He liked the idea he had power over an android that could easily kill him, it kept him safe. Now, he was aware that losing Jungkook was the reality of things now and he understood what had to be done, Seokjin only longed to protect the people and Jungkook was that threat to the living. That fatherly side he had towards the creation from the very moment Jungkook was first plugged in, was something his mind would always return to. Losing Jungkook would kill that side of him that truly loved him when the android just couldn't believe it.
"Well, maybe it's for the best..." Taehyung added on before placing his hand over Hoseok's. Softly running the tip of his fingers along the veins that popped out on the back of the human's hand. Taehyung couldn't feel and understand why Hoseok hesitated, nor could he realize the weight of his action on going to the department to report Jungkook. But all he knew was that he had to protect the living and keep everyone safe. At the end of the day, he had no other choice but to do so.
Hoseok wanted to push the android away and tell him to leave. He flared his nostrils and clenched his jaw shut the more he replayed Seokjin's words to him once again. Yet, he knew that this was only an android programmed to act this way. He couldn't hold a secret even if his life depended on it.
"I'll... go with you, Hoseok," Taehyung whispered softly and held Hoseok's hands within his own. "You need to face the light somehow."
"Right..." Hoseok replied. He wanted to prepare himself for the many things he would see when it came to Jungkook's unhealthy obsession with becoming human. Of course, there was no secret that Hoseok had been in that room before and read the entries Jungkook kept when his own mind wasn't enough to keep his thoughts in one place.
Once Hoseok knew it was time, he truly understood that he was going to come to terms with the truth. The truth he avoided for so long and the realization that Jungkook truly became something he could no longer recognize all because of himself. Hoseok was slowly beginning to connect the dots and realize the source of why Jungkook was this way from the very beginning.
Taehyung guided Hoseok inside the room. Now, he was no longer paranoid of Jungkook walking in and catching them at the moment. This had to be done, so Taehyung served as a great protection even if he was not matched for the unpredictable android. Although, Hoseok felt a little safer now.
The second they stepped in, the black light filled the room once more and the cold temperature caused Hoseok to stand in place. Jungkook always had a way of knowing what made humans uncomfortable so he made sure his room was uninhabitable just to make Hoseok turn away. This was something Hoseok already knew since the first time he stepped foot in here.
Taehyung followed along Hoseok as the human finally walked further in and stopped at the collection of televisions sitting over the stable desk. The sight of it caused chills to crawl along his skin and give him goosebumps that only initiated the shivers of fear and deathly cold he was met with after.
Taehyung looked around the familiar room before resting his blue gaze onto Hoseok. In that moment, all he could do was step in and hug him before a wave of warmth melted away the ice that locked Hoseok in one place. With the warmth being given off from the android, the human was able to push himself to plug the televisions in. No longer wishing to sugarcoat and enable every situation Jungkook got himself into.
Once the televisions turned on, he stepped back as the android still kept his arms wrapped around him to keep him warm. Little by little, the televisions began to catch signal after a while and by there, Hoseok was met with live surveillance footage of Jimin's home. Yet, he had never been there before so he couldn't tell, but it was safe to say that he already understood it was the place of the Android's partner. There was no surprise to that since he knew how obsessive and envious Jungkook could be to the point where he would watch every little thing about Jimin.
As Hoseok's eyes met with the many shots of different locations within Jimin's home, Taehyung looked up and couldn't process a thing. He was concerned, yet, he couldn't think of words to say at that moment but held back on the urge to distract Hoseok once more to protect him, yet he was well aware that it wouldn't work.
"Jungkook... how... how could you?" Hoseok whispered to himself as he began to tear up. He stood there, looking at every screen until his eyes rested on the footage within the room where Jungkook and Jimin laid in bed, holding each other closely while the covers concealed their exposed bodies.
"I knew... keeping you like this... running away with you to hide like this... was such a bad idea... I have no other choice but to let you go... you were such a bad idea from the very beginning."
