Chapter 52: He's the Problem

This was love for Jungkook. A happy, confusing, everlasting feeling that always kept him on the edge of his seat. The human understanding of love was something he never knew he would crave so much. He's watched all the androids receive love and the cute pet name from his creators, but to Jungkook, he was never once called that beautiful word that deemed him a creation that was loved. 'My little android' was the word he always wanted to hear from his creator's lips, but of course, he was never deemed good enough to be called something so sweet.

It always started from the beginning of his run. He was different; always in the in between of being an android and being an actual human. Neither side wanted to claim him so he remained in one place and that was in the middle. His endless studies of the living kept him hoping for the best, reaching out to something he just always wanted to be but in reality, it was never possible, he just needed to wake up from this dream.

While he laid there with his human, his mind never ceased thinking of the many things he had done. Even memories of his past when he lived in the department, constantly getting tested, came to mind and left him dissociating while Jimin went on, talking about the little things he still held onto in life. All things Jungkook longed to hear about but was too stuck on his guilt.

"And when I talked to my parents... they didn't really care... I don't think they ever did. Maybe that's why I live alone in a house they never step foot in," Jimin continued and seeked Jungkook's hand with his gentle touch. By there, he intertwined his hands with the android and then smiled to himself. Unaware that his little action brought Jungkook out of his thoughts, at least for now. "I guess I can call them... but no matter what I do, they won't acknowledge me... that's fine. Maybe soon they will, just not now."

Jungkook looked down to see Jimin's hand was intertwined with his. The sudden touch alone left a cavity to deepen right where his artificial heart stood. Jungkook's understanding of guilt was spot on, he never complained about this part of himself. He was programmed to feel bad about his actions, yet, it wasn't always an active thing. He had no remorse for the most part but now, towards Jimin, he finally began to feel it all just like a human would.

"Jungkook..." Jimin whispered and looked into the bone chilling eyes of the android while the silence between them deepened. As Jimin continued to look at Jungkook in his blue gaze, the eerie familiarity never seemed to go away. This was the gaze engraved into Jimin's fears every time when he was alone. It was the constant gaze detection that followed his every move. Jimin always labeled Jungkook's gaze as a familiar and scary one when he wasn't displaying any other emotion.

"Yes, Jimin?"

"Ah.... Why does his calming blue eyes give off the opposite feeling to them? I don't like it when he stares at me with those eyes of his... It reminds me of when I was being watched! How creepy can an Android's gaze be? Yet... I don't remember Yoongi's eyes giving me this feeling... maybe Jungkook is just different, there can't be anything deeper than that... If that was true, he wouldn't have kept it going for so long. Jungkook would never hurt me or stalk me... he would never hurt a fly!"

"At least, I hope so..."

By the next day, Hoseok was walking around the grocery store. Paranoid and silent as he walked into every aisle. His thoughts on Taehyung remained as he went another day without seeing the android he tampered with. Along with that, the image of that pale android standing outside in the snow while facing the direction to his home at that moment, haunted him in his dreams.

"Another day without Taehyung... he must be alright... there can't be any reason as to why he hasn't seen me in a while. There's no way that android could be up to no good. I'm... I'm overreacting..." Hoseok said to himself and pushed his cart forward, not being able to find one thing and add it to his cart since his mind spiraled off to the fear of what could happen.

The endless nights he spent on his own with his terrifying thoughts occupying his mind, was marked on the bags under his eyes. His hands trembled here and there with the thought of the possibilities, yet most of his time would be devoted into denying everything and keeping his head on the lighter side of things.

"There's nothing I should fear... I just need to get the groceries and then I can go home! There's nothing wrong with that... then, I can go to work tomorrow and continue living my normal life... away from Seokjin... hiding for an eternity," Hoseok soothed his worries with that and took the next hour looking for the things he needed.

By the time he was loading his car with his groceries, he noticed a pillow and a blanket sitting in the back of his car. At that moment, he remembered that day when Jungkook borrowed his car so he could be with Jimin. The thought of it left Hoseok to tilt his head, finally seeing the gentle side of Jungkook despite being underneath him, gasping for air when the android kept his hands locked onto his neck. With the memory still haunting Hoseok, he slowly ran his hand over the center of his neck. Gulping and recalling the memory of that day so perfectly.

Once Hoseok put his groceries away, he got in his car and began to drive back home. Ever since then, he couldn't recall going out on his own because once again, he was a lonely man only longing to hide from Kim Seokjin. He lessened his time going out and only stepped out to buy essentials and attend work of course. Going out and having a job was what kept him sane for now. But to be found by Kim Seokjin was his biggest fear.

Once Hoseok arrived home after a long drive back with just himself in his thoughts, he stepped out of his car gathering all of his groceries into tote bags to minimize having to walk back and forth. He figured getting groceries was going to keep his mind occupied but he thought wrong. For some odd reason, he just couldn't take a break from thinking of Seokjin. Something felt off to him and he knew it.

His eyes fixed onto Jimin's house, noticing the curtains were pulled apart for once as he continued to walk towards his own house. Crushing the snow underneath his boots with every quick and heavy step he took, anticipating getting through the door. The sense of gaze detection he felt with the android standing outside his window before, suddenly returned him. Maybe he was just paranoid, or maybe he was aware of what was far away from him, no matter what, Hoseok only hoped to get into his home and feel comforted by the four lonely walls he cared so much about.

By the time he stepped in, he removed his snow boots and quickly closed the door behind him. Relief overcame his soul as he stepped forward and carried the groceries out of the entry to his house. But just seconds into stepping into the living space, he just knew he was being watched at that very moment. It was an unsettling feeling that left him speechless and prevented his gaze to slowly look up into the direction he was being watched in.

"What... what's in here?" Hoseok asked as his gaze slowly moved upwards until he noticed that it was Kim Taehyung sitting on his couch. Silently staring into the eyes of the human with nothing else being said.

Once Hoseok gazed upon this creation, he flinched at first but once his eyes fixed upon the familiar android, he caught his breath right after. Yet, the android didn't say a word, but just kept looking into the human's eyes.

"Oh, you scared me right there, my little android! Ah, I haven't seen you in so long, I wondered what happened to you..." Hoseok went on and smiled at Taehyung. "I'm happy to see you again."

"I'm happy to see you too..." Taehyung mentioned and averted his eyes just to look at the entry to the kitchen. "Do you need help putting away the groceries?"

Something was off about this creation. Hoseok had no idea how Taehyung got in without having a human nearby to interact with him. Without a human being present, an android would never step into a place that was private. Hoseok only figured he must have left the door open. Of course, this was easy for him to believe because he was losing his mind when the android he tampered with, was gone for a few days.

"Oh no, that's fine! I'll do it myself. Tell me, my little android, where have you been? I was beginning to worry!" Hoseok continued to speak, lessening the horrifying thoughts in his head. "Better yet, how did you get in here?"

"I was let in..." Taehyung answered as Hoseok slowly approached the kitchen with the groceries, yet, keeping his eyes locked onto the android sitting on the couch. "He's been looking for you..."

After Taehyung said those words, Hoseok finally looked forward within the kitchen and latched his eyes onto none other than Kim Seokjin himself. Sitting on a countertop with just his hand planted onto the surface while his other hand was latched onto a white mug just sipping hot coffee right out of it.

With the sight of the man sitting across from him so casually with his grey sweatpants and black turtleneck shirt, Hoseok suddenly dropped the tote bags filled with his groceries and could only fumble to find the words to say. But all he could manage to spit out was Seokjin's name.

"S-Seokjin..."

"Hello, Hoseok... it's been quite a while..." Seokjin whispered before setting the cup down and finally getting off the counter. "You do take a while at the grocery store."

"W-What... What do you want from me?" Hoseok asked, hesitating to ask such a question to the man he hasn't seen in so long. "What are you doing here?"

"Can't a man visit his best friend? You and I both know this moment would come... it just needed a little push," the creator claimed and gave a smile towards the man that used to be his partner in crime. "Lovely house you have here... three bedroom house... for just one man. That's a little silly, don't you think?"

"You don't know me... you don't know what I do."

"Actually, I do. I know you so well, that I just can't sit here and listen to you dig further away from confessing. How's he liking this place? Does he love that little room of his?" Seokjin asked and was now standing before Hoseok.

"I don't know what you're talking about..."

"Really? You must have lost your mind then... we really need to stop ignoring the elephant in the room, Jung Hoseok. It's for you and the rest of the people's sake as well."

As soon as Seokjin said those words, he leaned in and grabbed one of Hoseok's bags to take out the groceries and start putting them away. Not saying another sound as Hoseok stood there, not longing to say another word that would be held against him. Kim Seokjin was a smart man, he knew if he was to say anything, it would be picked and used against him.

"I've always missed putting away groceries... when you get too busy with work, they're purchased and put away for you just like that. I miss the simplicities of life... you must have it good."

The younger man still stood there, drowning in his own silence and empty thoughts as he watched Seokjin put away most of the groceries within that bag. As he continued to do so, the creator finally came to a stop and held up a bad apple that Hoseok didn't seem to realize was not in good condition before.

"A bad apple. Hm, you need to keep your eyes open for the ones that are not good for humans. It's alright on the outside, you can barely see the underside... but, who knows if the inside of this apple has more imperfections? It slightly shows how bad it is on the outside, you can barely tell. You wouldn't want to see what it could truly do if you let it sit with the rest of the good apples..." Seokjin went on and finally looked at Hoseok, but his hand never set the bad apple down even once. "Good apples and bad apples never mix."

"Seokjin..."

"I'll stop fooling around... you and I both know I'm here for Jeon Jungkook," Seokjin mentioned and finally set the bad apple down, further away from the bag of good apples. "We can agree that he's the problem here."
