Chapter 32: What Are You Afraid Of?

Jimin was falling fast asleep in Jungkook's arms now. Yet, he found every strength within himself to avoid closing his eyes even if it was inevitable to him now. The android laid there after promising Jimin that he wouldn't leave; carefully holding Jimin's body against his and placing his gentle hand over the side of Jimin's face to keep him closer to his chest. It was a comforting feeling that left Jimin longing to sleep, but hoping to avoid it at the same time so he could embrace every second to the minute longer.

"Jungkook..." Jimin said in his soft and weak little voice with another yawn following after.

"You should be sleeping now, Jimin," Jungkook whispered as the human made an exhausted smile to himself. "What is it?"

"I want to stay up..." Jimin continued but the android only shook his head and observed every strand to Jimin's hair; looking at the way the ends would shine with the bit of the blue light reflection from the android's irises in the dark. "I want... I want to... make this last..."

"You make it sound as if you will never have this moment again. Jimin, don't think that way, I'll be here for you all night and by the morning, I will go. But then, I'll come back again to protect you for another night. It's an endless cycle, but it's one where you will never get tired of the same thing going over and over again," the android whispered carefully as a chill ran down Jimin's spine the moment he noticed Jungkook was looking down at him with his blue chilling gaze.

"You... wouldn't have to stay with me every night... one of these nights I'll have to be alone. I will have to learn not to rely on you completely, I don't know what else could happen so I must be prepared if-"

"Why? I'm not going anywhere. A promise is a promise... you don't need to do that if I'm going to be here for you," Jungkook claimed and rolled the bangs to Jimin's hair back in order to expose his forehead more. "You give me purpose... if it wasn't for you I would be wasting my life away in that house..."

"I doubt this gaze detection will last forever.. maybe the one who has been watching me is gone now, I haven't felt those eyes on me for quite some time. Maybe, you can stay with me for the rest of the day and by night, I can be alone. But if it returns, -in which I highly doubt- then you can protect me again for the night. I just want to see if I'm safe without needing another android by my side for the moment," Jimin replied and looked up to Jungkook's green eyes right after.

Mischievous was the color Jungkook's eyes gave out. His stare deepened over Jimin while his voice and gentle touch gave the exact opposite. For some odd reason, this gaze the android always had towards the human was oddly familiar to him, yet, Jimin didn't want to think too much of it. At the end of the day, Jungkook kept him safe, didn't he? He found no other reason than to believe every little thing the android said because at the end of the day, his brain just couldn't depict any bad thing from the android. He was completely flawless in his world.

"What are you thinking about?"

"Nothing..." Jungkook answered, blinking his eyes and switching the color of his gaze into blue right after. Yet, he switched the colors and did it in a way that seemed so natural, Jimin was bound to forget about it, but he didn't.

"You were thinking of something," Jimin said with another yawn as his body crawled onto the android until he towered over the creation. "Your eyes... they were green... Now they're blue. I didn't think you could control the way you feel... is it like a press of a button? Mischievous... Why were you feeling that way? Do you have something up your sleeve?"

"Maybe I do, maybe I don't~" Jungkook teased and patted the top of Jimin's head carefully. "Enough making small talk, sleep now while you still can."

"He didn't answer my question, is it a defect?" Jimin questioned in his head and began to close his eyes to the feeling of Jungkook caressing his hair carefully in order to get him to sleep. "It can't be... Jungkook is a different kind of android... so he has different functions from the rest. I could be overthinking it..."

Jimin continued to wander in his head while Jungkook kept him close, comforting him and caressing his hair back gently. Jungkook had a way of making the one who adored him, become comfortable in seconds. Jimin was vulnerable at the moment, and he couldn't care less now. He believed he was safe in the arms of this peculiar android.

"Yeah... I could be overthinking it..."

As a week went by, Jimin hasn't heard from Taehyung at all. In fact, he called and called, yet the android never seemed to send a message nor respond. This was something that concerned the young man, but every time he tried to speak to Jungkook about it, he would become speechless and another day went by as he was launched into the clouds where the only symphony that played was his heart beating for the android.

Jungkook became the only one he would see every day for the whole week since the android himself came over often and distracted Jimin from pulling through with his initial plans on going out. Jeon Jungkook intervened every time and Jimin didn't seem to notice nor even care. The android was the one he became extremely interested in after the very first kiss they shared at the beach.

To Jimin, it was like a budding romance that began to bloom between the two. They spent nights cuddling until dawn, and throughout the day, they would cook or talk for endless hours. Jimin didn't think he would connect so much with another android after Yoongi, but he was proud to prove himself wrong. Jimin enjoyed whatever the two had, he didn't care to ask Jungkook if they were in a relationship or not. Their trust was special and Jimin couldn't have had it any other way. Although their lips meeting was another rare thing that only happened that day on the beach, Jimin still wondered if he could ever have that moment again.

Even after a week, Jung Hoseok was still losing his mind and looking for the micro cameras he needed, yet, he couldn't find it in him to question Jungkook further. He felt as if he was losing his mind after giving into Jungkook that day, giving him an artificial heart beat and automatic breathing. His fears towards the android doubled and his worries for Jimin never seemed to fade. Jungkook was in and out of the house, devoting all his energy to the boy next door, and that only stressed Hoseok out to find those cameras and stick them onto the android so he could make sure Jungkook wouldn't harm Park Jimin. Of course, Jungkook was extremely interested in Jimin and was very stable around the fragile human, so how could something so innocent do any harm? Hoseok only wished he could believe that.

Jung Hoseok sat over the couch in his living room and constantly looked over at the clock on the wall and over to the door concealing Jungkook's room that remained locked throughout the day and night. The human longed to look into the room since it was the only place he had yet to flip upside down, but his heart would race in fear the second his hand would touch the door knob. Yet, it didn't stop Hoseok from believing that Jungkook hid something within his room.

As Hoseok counted the seconds as the minute hand on the clock turned, he let out an exhale, promising himself that he would get up by the next and try to sneak in, but he would always lie to himself.

While he waited for another minute to slip him by, there was suddenly a knock at the door which caused him to flinch and break away from his trance. Yet, it didn't mean that his fears didn't double. The man cleared his throat and trembled as he approached the door. Paranoid that it was Jungkook using an excuse to why he couldn't open the door himself in order to choke him with his gaze once again. So, the human reached the door and calmed himself down just so he could never show the android his fears even if he was sure Jungkook already knew about them so well.

The second Hoseok leaned in to look through the peephole, his eye latched onto the other android he hadn't seen since a week before. It was Taehyung; the android he barely knew personally, yet, knew everything about his system. Hoseok let out a relieved sigh at the sight of the creation and finally opened the door, wide enough to invite him in if he longed to share a word or two. Deep down, Hoseok just hoped Taehyung didn't bear any bad news about Jimin when it came to Jungkook.

"Taehyung, it's been a while... how are you feeling-"

"It's been a week!" Taehyung exclaimed and stepped in on his own before removing his boots and looking around the place. "It's been a week and now you ask me how I'm feeling?! I haven't been the same... whatever you did to me, I can't seem to comprehend! I can feel things I didn't think were capable..."

"Oh, then you're working just fine! I gave you emotions and to cater to your type, I exaggerated them more. You're more fun now, you're welcome."

"N-No! No, take it back! I don't want it! I can't sit still for a minute, I feel like a theater kid!" Taehyung exclaimed and ran his hand along his hair before pacing around. "I... I no longer have the ability to scan other androids..."

"Oh... do you?" Hoseok asked, hiding the tone in his voice. In fact, he did remove that feature on purpose just so Taehyung wouldn't find out about Jungkook if he was to ever run into him and scan him. Hoseok just couldn't be too sure about trusting another android.

"Please remove this from me and give me my scanner back, I can't go on like this!"

"I think I might have overdone it with the exaggeration..." Hoseok said to himself as Taehyung only took a sigh and dropped onto the couch behind him. "Alright Shakespeare, I hate to break it to you, but I'm not going to fix you. I can add things but never fix them..."

"Then... I'm going to the department as soon as possible! Even if they might deactivate me or not, I don't want to live like this, I-"

"You can't go to the department, don't go to the department at all. Whatever you do... don't ever go to the department in hopes of getting fixed from what I gave you..." the human went on and continued to observe Taehyung.

"What if I harm a human? I don't have this under control!"

"You don't have to worry about that, Taehyung. It's built deep down in your system to never harm a living person. No matter what you do, you won't harm a living soul..." at that moment, Hoseok pondered his words and allowed his eyes to latch onto Jungkook's door once again. Tempted to open it when his fears only died down for a little while another android was in his presence. "So you can protect humans from anything... even from flawed creations."

"I guess I could...But what if I do harm a human? What if something you gave me leads me to do it?!" Taehyung asked and then began to pout. "You made me like this, why wouldn't I?! And where are you going? I'm right here!" The android continued as Hoseok approached the door, yet hesitated and became anxious once again.

"Don't worry about what I'm doing..."

"My sensors indicate that your heart is racing, What's wrong?" Taehyung questioned and managed to get through to Hoseok at that moment. "What are you afraid of?"
