Chapter 13: Just a Stare

"That's... a lovely photo..." Jungkook spoke out and watched Jimin snap out of his inner thoughts instantly. "Is that the beach?"

"Oh... yeah... it is.." Jimin replied before unlocking his screen quickly. "It's just the beach, nothing more."

"It seems like it holds such a memory with you, is it a good one or a bad one?"

"Bad, no, good? Ah, it doesn't matter, I'm ordering the groceries right now," Jimin concluded and ended the conversation. He didn't wish to continue speaking about it and Jungkook was able to understand that. However, that just left him more curious than before.

"It doesn't matter..." Jungkook repeated and kept his gaze locked onto the young man tapping away onto his phone. His silence deepened and left the android to sit at a chair and continue to watch over him with nothing else to say. Jungkook would be lying if he didn't say he wasn't curious, but he just sat there and longed to know more even if he knew Jimin wouldn't let him in.

Once Jimin finished ordering the groceries, he sat down at a chair by the dining table where Jungkook remained. Silence drowned the two further as Jimin tried his best to think of something else to say other than the conversation Jungkook wanted to have. Jimin had no issues talking to Jimin about it, but he just didn't want to give him too much information and risk deactivating him. It happened before, so Jimin had no plans of letting that happen again.

"I-"

"Do you like going to the beach," asked the curious android. "Is it your favorite place?"

"It... it doesn't matter, it's just a place," Jimin answered and ran his hand through his silk hair. "That's all there is to it."

"Then... maybe we should go to the beach sometime," Jungkook claimed. His eyes remained locked onto Jimin with such a concerned stare, it was bound to allude to Jimin in seconds, and of course, it did. "If it's not a problem, I haven't been to the beach before..."

"You've never been to the beach? How long have you been active?" Jimin wondered and looked back to where Jungkook sat. "Does... Hoseok even let you out of the house?"

"Not really," Jungkook answered and leaned over where his elbow was planted onto the table and his face was set into the center of his palm. "It's not that he doesn't let me... it's that I can't go out."

"Is it because you're an introverted type?" Jimin questioned and watched how the smirk on Jungkook's face deepended. The sudden tone of mischief amplified at the question and that alone caused Jimin to regret asking that in the first place.

"Well... I don't know... maybe I can tell you, only if you talk to me and tell me what I want to know~" Jungkook whispered and dragged his finger tip along the small details on the wooden dining table. "It's pretty clear that we both hide things... Maybe we can tell each other one after another."

"I..." Jimin stopped himself before remembering that no Androids were capable of holding in too much information and understood that through Taehyung, robots were incapable of handling a situation properly and only tended to brush it off. "I don't... think you will be able to help me..."

"I can't promise you that I will help you, but I can promise you that I will listen."

"You can't say that; Androids don't listen, they hear but they can't listen. You can't promise me that when I know how Android's work," Jimin retorted and continued to see the android holding a smirk over his face. "If I tell you, it could also be too much for you."

"Too much for me?" Jungkook asked and raised his head from his hand before leaning in closer to where Jimin sat on the chair. This caused Jimin to slowly move his body back and continue to look into the blue eyes of the android before him. "You know how Androids work.... But do you... know how I... work?"

Jungkook's voice grew raspy and fell into a whisper. Those blue sapphire gems latched onto the human without another second taken just to blink. Jimin was frozen in place and just knew that he must have upset the android before him.

"I know how most work.."

"Oh Jimin, but not one of them is like me..." Jungkook replied and pressed his back against the chair. Looking up to the ceiling while his arms crossed. "I wouldn't bet that you would know enough about Androids. All of us are different and so am I..."

"I don't understand... all Androids are made differently but they are all alike in the construction aspect when it comes to emotions," Jimin continued and didn't even fear the idea that he was looking into Jungkook's eyes constantly. He was too distracted by his own memories to even stop and think about the way Jungkook's eyes fell from the ceiling and returned to gazing into his.

"You're adorable...there's many things you don't know about me, but I do want to trust you with it all," the mysterious android said. "You're a smart boy... but, do you really know a lot about Androids?~"

"I do... at least, I think so... your creator doesn't disclose that many things to the public on how he creates them. He's a genius, but no one knows a lot about what he does."

"My creator?"

"Yes, Kim Seokjin, shouldn't you know this by now?" Jimin asked and watched Jungkook remain silent. Automatically causing Jimin to raise a brow. "You do know that, right?"

"Of... course.. I do..." Jungkook answered and looked away from Jimin completely. Finally being the one to break eye contact he always wanted to keep with the human being.

Jimin watched Jungkook remain silent. In other instances, androids will brush this small inconvenience away and continue the conversation so it wouldn't fall short, but Jungkook dwelled on it longer and looked as if he was thinking about it. In seconds, the robot failed to realize that the small specks of his bright blue eyes faded into a purple and then a red hue. What seemed to be a sapphire gem slowly turned into a crimson ruby in seconds and this just couldn't slip past Jimin. The second Jimin caught onto the way Jungkook's eyes shifted colors, the human only remained frozen in shock.

"Jungkook..." Jimin whispered and kept his eyes latched onto the red hue that bled through Jungkook's pale face. It was enough to leave Jimin concerned, but since he didn't know anything about it, he didn't want to bring it up. He could already tell Jungkook was tense and now; this was enough to seal the deal.

"I'm fine..." Jungkook answered. His firm grip raised along his body until it met with his black silk hair. Just then, he brushed his hair back; exposing his forehead and more to his red eyes until he let out an exhale where steam managed to escape from the inside of his mouth. "When should we expect the groceries?"

Jimin was surprised; he never expected to see an android behave this way, let alone, an android look like this when they were upset. In fact, Jimin couldn't tell if Android's were built to feel this way and that just left the human concerned. What went on in Jungkook's head? Jimin longed to know. Fear wasn't on the human's mind by then since he began to familiarize himself with Jeon Jungkook, but to fear him? Not as much as before. Jimin found himself growing concerned, curious, and interested as to why Jungkook behaved this way even towards the little words he shared.

"Did I say something wrong? Is his creator a sensitive topic? Taehyung loves talking about Kim Seokjin... why doesn't Jungkook feel the same? Did I upset him?" Jimin continued to ask himself while silence dug Jimin a grave in between each pauses in his thoughts.

"Jimin..."

Instantly, Jimin flinched and nodded his head abruptly. Not wanting Jungkook to catch onto what he became curious about. Somehow, Jimin just believed his concerns should be kept down since at the end of the day, he couldn't learn about Jungkook unless he shares something about himself relating to the lockscreen he kept looking at. As confusing Jimin made things out to be, he found himself longing to tell Jungkook something about himself in order to learn more and ease the many questions shouting back and forth from the top of his head.

"It... it's coming in thirty minutes!" Jimin quickly answered and watched Jungkook nod his head and kept his crimson stare onto the table. "Jungkook... are you... mad?"

"Why do you..." Jungkook's words fell short. Somehow, he knew he was showing his emotions and automatically knew exactly what it was. Jungkook caught onto his reflection on one of the appliances in the kitchen where his gaze was able to bounce off the color of his own eyes in the reflection. Instantly, Jungkook's eyes widened and his hands gripped onto the table; his body remained still as the red hue in his eyes shifted into a grey color, causing Jimin to lean in closer than he ever thought he would.

"Your eyes... they're grey now... are you okay?" The hint of worry in Jimin's voice managed to break through Jungkook's sensors. The robot instantly looked away and turned his body in an opposite direction, but Jimin's eyes only widened just seeing Jungkook trying to hide his situation so suddenly. Jimin has seen this all before to the point where he became afraid to see what was going to happen to Jungkook if he didn't interfere.

"No... no they're fine!" Jungkook answered and closed his eyes while his body shunned Jimin. He hugged himself and tried his best to clear his thoughts and remain calm, but the idea of Jimin knowing this about him, caused him to lose all the things he held onto that kept him safe before. "I... I have to go..."

The second Jungkook said those words, Jimin watched as the android stood up, but that only left Jimin to do the same and approach him further.

"Jungkook... wait... please..." Jimin spoke into a gentle whisper as he swiftly thought up an idea before leaning in to the android once more and hugging him from the back in a way for comfort. Jimin was desperate and never thought he would see himself hug another –let alone another android– but he surprised himself and hugged Jungkook from the back in a way to make him stay and comfort him. Any other android would never return the favor, but somehow, Jimin recalled the way Jungkook eased his fears earlier and just knew he had to do something to make sure Jungkook wouldn't leave. Jeon Jungkook was different from the rest and Jimin already began to realize that.

"Jimin..."

"Stay... I'm... I-I'm not scared... we should talk..." Jimin sputtered, tightening his grip around the firm waist of the android and somehow having his own skin catch onto the structure of Jungkook's sculpted body sitting just underneath his own shirt. "Don't leave..."

"I... don't know what you're talking about..." Jungkook answered and looked down to see Jimin still hugging his body. "What is there to be scared of?"

"Your eyes are-" suddenly, Jimin looked up and noticed that the gloomy grey color that once filled Jungkook's eyes, was now gone and nothing but the blue ocean filled his eyes. Jimin became confused and wondered if the color change was his doing. But of course, Jimin couldn't stress about that now, Jungkook was already changing the conversation as if it didn't happen. Was he still waiting for Jimin to agree on sharing things one by one in order to learn more about each other? If that was the plan, Jimin was now convinced that Jungkook knew exactly how to get everything he wanted.

"He can't be serious... is he going to play this off as if it didn't happen until I agree to talk to him about myself? He's smart, all this just to get me to confess in order to know more about him. He plays his cards well. He may think I'm dumb for not realizing this but I caught onto it," Jimin thought in his own head and continued to cling onto Jungkook. "And yet, I'm the fool holding onto him... I trapped myself into this..."

Jimin, of course, didn't know what else to say, but kept Jungkook waiting for a response. Those brief seconds Jimin took, accepting his defeat in his head, a smirk formed over Jungkook's charming face in victory. Jimin played Jungkook's game and instantly lost to him with just a stare.
