Ok just an idea, the gang all go to a art academy/university.
Tord is there for digital music.
Tom is there for photography.
Edd is there for animation.
And Matt is there for painting and drawing.
They don't know each other.
Tord comes straight from Norway and doesn't know much English.
He hears Tom practicing bass in the music room and immediately gets interested, therefore starts taking to him.
Tord tells him that he doesn't really have anywhere to stay yet and he's crashing in a hotel.
Tom lets him move in with him.
They somehow meet Edd and Matt.
