"Okay guys I'm pretty sure that we can't out run these things so we're going to have to find a place to hide. Who knows of the nearest place we can hide." I said, while trying to keep my warring emotions in check.

"On my way to the tower, I passed a tunnel that's not the far from here. I don't know what is down there but we can try?" Suggested Jacob. "It's our best bet how long will it take to get there?" "About five minutes if we run." 

"Okay Jacob will lead the way to while the rest of us follow. Every one stick close we don't need to lose anyone. Kevin will you be able to shield us if we don't make it and Kelly tell us their position?" They both have me a firm yes, determined looks on their faces. Everyone ready? I asked, voice firm. Nods all around, everyone grouped together ready to go. 3.2.1... Go!

We took off in a  dead sprint. Jacob leading with Kendal and Tara close behind him with the rest of us behind them. About a minute in I started to hear a buzz, like an engine coming from around us. "They're closing in behind us and on our left!" Kelly shouted. With the sound of metal grinding together, Kendal shifted into her titanium form, then Will generated three more light orbs that burned with intense light. The buzzing got louder and more intense, and sporadic yellow lights started to flash, dancing round us.

"Their closing on the right and the front. The left and right swarms are maintaining their distance." Kelly said. "We're almost there. Just keep running." Jacob yelled.

Then things went wrong. I heard a "Oof. Ahhhh!" From behind and turned to see Kevin lying on the ground. We all ran to him and he was clutching his ankle, a pale, pained look on his face. "I'm sorry I wasn't paying attention and my foot got caught on a tree root." he said. Will carefully picked him up in his arms saying,"We'll deal with this when we get to the cave come on let's go." "It's too late they have us surrounded. We going to have to fight through them if we want to get there." Kelly said.

The lights got closer and brighter, the humming increased in volume. Dark, small shapes could be seen buzzing around us. We formed tight circle with Kevin in the center. "Kevin do you think you could concentrate enough to shield us." Will asked. "I'll try" he grunted. He closed his eyes and an orange shield formed around most of us, except Kendal. It flickered for a second but then seemed to hold. 

Something shot of the trees and slammed into the shield. It looked like a metal bee the size of a small bird. It looked deadly and and the area around its stinger was clear, flickering with yellow light that reminded me of electricity. Its eyes glowed yellow and clicked its mouth as it looked at us.

The scariest part about it was that it's stinger had pierced the shield. Lots of them started to attack the shield. Will started shooting beams of light from his spheres outside, and Kendal beating them with her fists, but as soon as one fell three more took its place. the entire shield was soon crawling these bugs.

"Guys..." Kevin panted. He was pale and his breathing was labored. Tara knelt next to Kevin, she looked up at me saying,"I don't that he has much longer. He's going to lose consciousness any minute now. We need to get out of here and soon." 

"Well this is just a thought, but since these things are like bees that means that there's queen controlling them right? If Kelly can follow the "mind trail" back to queen and overload its brain then we'll be all good right?" Will asked. "I could try, but I don't know if it's going to work." Kelly said. She knelt on the ground, closed her eyes, and took a cleansing breath.

"I-I think I've found it. I can sense his thoughts. All he can think about is killing. Killing us, but I'm not going to let that happen. Nobody tries to kill my friends and get away with it." Her voice teeming with anger, and her face tight with concentration. She started to tremble and she started to get a nosebleed. "Crap, his mind is stronger than I thought, he's fighting back."

 She then let out a blood boiling scream, her eyes flew open and their iris glowed blood red and the oncoming wave of mental energy left us reeling. The light from the bees dimmed, they all fell strewn across the ground. "Well it's a good thing I got all of them, cause I'm not doing that again." said Kelly chuckling. She struggled to her feet, then leaned against me for support. The red glow faded back to her normal brown. "Come on Dev let's get going. Kevin and I are going to need a place to rest." Kelly said.

Despite her protests that she was okay to walk, I carried her to the tunnel and Will carried Kevin, who dozed quietly in his arms. The entrance jutted out from the ground, it was only a little taller than me and about as wide as 3 people.

I noticed as we all ventured deeper into the tunnel that it sloped downward slightly and that it's ceiling was lined glowing white moss. A few feet back it then widened out into a small cave. Will placed Kevin gently against a wall and I placed Kelly next to him. "I'll go see if I can find some firewood or something." Kendal said. "And I'll search for food." Jacob said. They both quickly left and the rest of us laid down. I quickly fell into a deep dreamless sleep.
