Berrypaw was having a minature panic attack as he looked at all the intimidating CliffClan and GardenClan cats at the gathering.

As he and his clanmates that came with him (Wrenstar, Hailfall, Harepounce, Daisypaw, Mossleap, Pineclaw, Sparkheart, Ravenwind, Fawnpounce, Cloudpaw, Flickerpaw, Cherrypaw, and Goldenbreeze) entered the gathering place, a large clearing with an extremely large rock in the center of it, the whole clan seemed to split and talk to other cats. 

Mossleap and Pineclaw were talking with Honeybreeze from CliffClan. Harepounce and Daisypaw sat by Addertail and Poolspring. Wrenstar, Ivystar, and Stormstar sat on the Gathering Rock, their deputies (Hailfall, Briarbreeze, and Hawkwhisper) sat at the base of the rock.

Goldenbreeze sat with Amberclaw, the two elders exchanging stories.

Berrypaw and Cherrypaw followed Cloudpaw and Flickerpaw to where the other apprentices were sitting.

Puddlepaw and Marshpaw from CliffClan were there as well as Shadowpaw from GardenClan. Berrypaw recognized them from Cloudpaw's description of them.

"Hey, guys!" Grinned Cloudpaw, energetic as usual.

Puddlepaw smiled at him while Marshpaw gave him a wave with his tail. Shadowpaw simply nodded at him.

"Who's these two?" Puddlepaw asked, looking warmly at Berrypaw and Cherrypaw.

"I'm Cherrypaw," meowed the she-cat.

Berrypaw waited, hoping that someone would introduce him so that he didn't have to socially interact with anyone.

When nobody did, Berrypaw was forced to speak so he didn't look like a complete jerk.

"I'm, uh, B-Berrypaw," the russet tom stammered, nervous about meeting these new cats.

Cloudpaw and Flickerpaw easily conversed with the cats, as if they've known them for moons. In actuality, the cats only met twice.

Cherrypaw looked over at Berrypaw, trying to think of something to talk about.

"So...you and Dawnpaw seem...pretty close," Cherrypaw meowed.

"Oh, yeah!" Replied Berrypaw, his eyes instantly lighting up. "Dawnpaw is super nice. Do you know that she volunteers to replace bedding for the elders and get all their ticks off?"

"I don't know...I feel like she's up to something," Cherrypaw responded, narrowing her eyes.

Berrypaw looked at Cherrypaw in surprise. "Or, ya know, she could just be a kind-hearted cat."

"Oh, yeah, Dawnpaw is a blessing sent straight from StarClan," Cherrypaw mocked.

"Why are you acting like this?!" Berrypaw asked, narrowing his eyes. "Dawnpaw is just a genuinely good cat!?"

"Oh, sure, a cat just appears out of nowhere and you'd rather spend your days fawning over her than listen to your logical best friend!" Snapped Cherrypaw.

"Listen to yourself, Cherrypaw! You have no evidence that Dawnpaw is doing anything bad," Berrypaw tries to reason.

"Maybe I can just see things clearer because my father actually cared enough to stick around to teach me how to!" Hissed Cherrypaw.

Berrypaw's eyes widened as he stepped back, shocked and hurt.

Cherrypaw's eyes soften as she realizes what she just told him.

"Berrypaw, I..."

Berrypaw turned away from Cherrypaw and back towards camp.

"I'll go after him," meowed Sparkheart from behind Cherrypaw.

Great going, Cherrypaw, the apprentice scolded herself. Now you've just pushed away your best friend, you badger brain.

Cherrypaw sighed as she watched her best friend run away, well aware that she almost completely ruined her relationship with him forever.
