Chapter 21

Oh my god. Oh my God. Oh my god. What did she just say???? If I could freak out I would.

"Oh well, it's not for sure. There's like a seventy five percent chance you won't. But what do you expect? Your magic  has been suppressed for the past two hundred years."

I widened my eyes. Magic? No one said anything about magic. None. I can't do anything besides fight and that was about it.

"And that's not the worst of it! If you don't marry before your two hundredth birthday, then you'll most likely die." She sipped on her tea like she was talking about the weather not my life. "Elves and Inbrius both share their powers with their mates, their betrothed. On the day they marry the power between the two is split, that way one is never stronger than the other. The elves can control their magic and the Inibrius can control their hunger. Which is why both encouraged the higher-powered ones to stay and mate with other higher powers. Now since you are off both worlds and of the eclipse then you have powers beyond their wildest imaginations. And you need to be married or else all that power coming back at once might kill you. Or you might not have any power at all, who knows?"

She continued to sip away at her tea, ignoring my face. I was getting to the boiling point of anger. It didn't seem to matter how much calming potion she gave me, I would explode if she said one more thing.

Man, I need to be careful what I wish for.

"By the way Prince Damascus will be here soon."

Oh she didn't. She couldn't have.

"Oh fuck no! I didn't just escape from prison and endure all those tortures just so I can be sent back to the one person who annoys me the most! I will not be going with the stupid fucking prince anywhere! I don't care for going back to my world I don't give him back to the castle to be pampered! I will not go anywhere near that goddamn Prince again! I'm leaving!"

Her face was one of amusement mixed with surprise from my outburst and I ran towards the door. I wouldn't spend anytime wasted. I would get home as soon as possible. I'd escape. I'd leave before he found me.
I'd...

Oh, how I wish the stairs didn't lead down...

We both took only a split second to figure out who was who before he took one look at me and hissed, drawing his sword. He fucking hissed at me!

I pushed past, ignoring him and trying to run.

He grabbed my arm and pulled me back, twisting it up. I looked up into his eyes nearly getting lost in the stormy blue and green sea. A sea that held nothing but hate a second ago but I watched as confusion passed over him. He dropped my arm and that's what I used as my advantage. I turned and continued to run.

"Stop!"

His voice sent chills down my spine, nearly making me freeze. Even though I wouldn't admit it, I had missed hearing him. But for now, I had two words for him.

I turned to see his furious face and very slowly said: "Up yours." And boy oh boy did that feel great.

I might have missed him when I was getting beaten in a prison cell but now that I saw him I was furious.

"How could you possibly let me be taken by him! How could you not stop him! How did you not find me! Where were you when they were trying to kill me?! When they were trying to trap me?! When they were trying to use me as a weapon! Where were you when I was scrubbing floors at the feet of what I thought was my best friend!"

I didn't realize it but I was sobbing out more than I meant to. He didn't have an obligation to save me but it would have been nice if someone had remembered to...

In a moment the anger on his face turned and became a face full of surprise. I couldn't help myself. I just laughed so hard. I laughed at him being here. I laughed at the thought of escaping and managing to not get caught. I laughed at the fact that I was free and in all my laughter his face just continue to get more scared.

"You look like someone kicked your puppy!"

Just then, the witch decided to show up, standing at the top of the stairs in the door frame. She looked at me with the same level of fear.

And that sobered me right up.

"Your hair... your eyes... what happened?" She turned to the prince and glared. "What. Did. You. Do."

"Easy witch, I did nothing to it."

It.

She turned a watchful eye to me. I reached up and grasped my hair pulling in front of my eyes.

No.
Not like she said.
Not like this.

I ran back into the house pushing pass both of them while they just sat there staring. I slammed through to the bathroom and looked in the mirror. And it was true. My beautiful brown hair was now white. Not a single starnd held color while my eyes were the entire opposite. My eyes were glowing a luminescent green.

It couldn't be real...
