Chapter 16

"Do you have any idea what is going on? Do you know who your real parents are?"

When I didn't reply she stepped closer to me reaching out a hand to touch me and I pulled away on instinct. I wouldn't let any of them touch me, who knows what kind of shit they'd do to me.

Serdina.

The Inibrius queen in the flesh. She sat upon her throne in a room decked out in jewels and gold, looking down on me like I was a piece of meat. She summoned me to a throne room and all she did was stare at me, trying to read me while a room of people watched on. A room of Inibrius, every red eye trained on me. Curiosity, anger and even pain filled the red orbs. I was focused on the pair of brown eyes that looked on with disinterest above a smirk.

"You have been here for nearly two weeks yet the only one you choose to talk to is a filthy elf? You could have talked to anyone yet you choose her? Why is that?"

I drew my eyes back to her, surprised at the question but I didn't let it show. I just held my head high.

"And would you rather have me talk to the guards who look like they would kill me? Talk to the people who tortured me? Talk to other prisoners? The first to show kindness is the one who deserves. That is what my father said."

When I say run, you run. You need to be in the kitchen.

I was mildly surprised at the command but decided it was probably best. Sheet all escape comes first.

Her face morphed into a one of amusement. "And I wonder how far that got him."

I held my breath and unclenched my fists before replying to her. "You are not going to get to me. I've been tortured with worse than that." I crossed my arms as people began to murmur around me.

The queen stood and clapped her hands, causing everyone to fall silent. "Your parents, a couple that would be a rival to any good story." Her booming voice echoed in the throne room. "And I mean your real parents. Your father had been a man who got what he wanted and took it upon himself to take my sister against her will. A type of Elf magic, no doubt. Sometimes she'd be gone for days and return covered in dirt. She would spend the days after not eating, not sleeping and eventually, she stopped appearing. No consequence to us, a queen should never show weakness anyhow."

MY mother was HER sister? Oh life. What have I done to deserve this.

"Word got back that she was pregnant. An unmated and pregnant queen! Could you imagine my parents horror? They sent for him to pay for his crimes. It turns out, he had disappeared too. And yet, they wage war against us over what he did! They call us monsters, they call us evil when they follow under the legacy of that despicable creature."

With each word, cheers and hisses erupted from crowd surrounding us. A show down between their queen and the daughter of someone she hated, what more could they ask for to fuel their blood lust.

He was no monster...

I nodded to the voice in my head. He couldn't have been a monster, it didn't fit. "He was no monster."

"YOUR FATHER WAS A MONSTER! He ran from everything over two hundred years ago."

"I'm a human, they aren't my parents. Sorry but you got the wrong girl."

I shrugged my shoulders and played naive. All I had to do was get this over with.

"No it is you, Lillian. They abandoned you and for revenge you're going to help us: our secret weapon."

I scoffed at her. "What makes you think I'd help you do anything? You kidnapped me! Held me in a prison!"

Before she could say anything there was a loud Rumble and a crack and the ground below us. I mean we can't really have an earthquake or did they even have those here wasn't this supposed to be all magic and stuff?

Run, Lillian, run!

I looked at all the Inibrius as they started to scatter, at the queen who was shouting at the guards. I looked at everyone until the only eyes staring at me were his.

With a smirk I leave my arm and booked it towards the entrance. In all there fear questioning describe the hold on to me. And I ran I ran and I ran and I ran. I had to get out of the hallway.

My arm was grabbed and I tried to yank it away from the fingers. When they didn't let go, I turned and found the elf girl from earlier. She didn't say a word as she led me down the hall and through a set of doors. The room she took me to turned out to be a kitchen and I had never been so happy. While I smiled like a lunatic, three elves stood there watching.

I looked at them. "Who are you? More importantly where is the exit?"

"Are you Lillian? The one going to escape?"

"Who told you said anything about escape?"

I eyed the elves. They couldn't be trusted if they knew I was escaping could they?

Trust them.

Well... the voice had been right so far... why not trust it with my life. Again.

"Miss you need to come with us. We're all set. You just need to lead us through the passages."

She handed me a bag and dragged me towards another set of doors. When we walked through, I saw a dining room. I was utterly confused. This was the one I had cleaned everyday... wasn't I in a different castle?

Before I could ask we came to darkened corner of the room but they didn't stop. The kept walking at a fast pace towards the curtains in the corner. I nearly screamed when the elf disappeared through the curtain before pulling me through.

Everything hit me as I though about my dream. 'Where a man gets his fill.'

It was in a dining room. I nearly smacked myself. The passages weren't in a bedroom. I guess I had a filthy mind...

"We'll need you to lead us. It's a long trip and we have tried to leave but it always brought us back. It only ever worked for the king."

My mind turned back to the task at hand. Right. Escape first.
