(Y/N)'s POV

As I quietly look out at the battlefield, covered in bodies, it reminded me back to my first campaign.

I sigh silently as I turned to Connor, as gave him a nod to brief my group that we will be scouts, and attempt to make contact with local settlements.

As he walks away, I turned back, until I felt a splitting headache I wince, ducking and grabbing my head.

"This is Major Grant! Broken Arrow! Broken Arrow!"

It quickly stopped as I looked around in confusion and shock, looking for the voice I heard. But nothing, I sighed. "I need to see that Therapist again..."

I mutter quietly as I see Connor Approach me. "Horses are ready, we got, supplies to last around A week and a Half, maybe more if we ration." He says as I nod. "Alright, tell Kuribayashi I want to speak with her now in Private."

I told him as he nods, walking away to get her. I grab the necklace my wife made for me, she was from Europe, Russia. She never told me much about her past, only that she changed her name to Mary when moving to the United States.

When I first met her, she was such an angel. The surprise on my face at how rough she was in the bed was priceless. But it wasn't all about that, she stayed by my side when the war started she never left...Now I lost her.

I heard footsteps next to me as I turn to see her. "You, requested me, sir?" She asks, having a curious expression on her face.

"Yes, You were going to say something to me, a few nights ago before we were rudely interrupted by the enemy," I say, as she blushes and has a nervous expression.

"I...I...Erm...I wish to say, I was...scared. When the attack happened on our land, it was more like a scouting party, not as serious as yours...when I saw you run into battle, your eyes...deep down I saw a young soul, injured." She says, it was obvious she wanted to say something else but I didn't pressure her as I sigh.

"...War is...different. In war, people think when you kill, there will be no consequences... that's a lie...The more you kill, you lose your humanity." I say, looking out at the battlefield.

"...Come on, let's ride."

Timeskip One Day

As I quietly ride my horse, my men behind me on their own. I look around the dense foliage, following the dirt road. As we continue, I noticed something up ahead as I grab my rifle from the holster on my Horse's saddle.

"Hold," I say as we all stopped our horses. Connor and Kuribayashi come up to me, while Shart, Walker, and Torin form a Perimeter behind us. Gunny also moved beside us as Matashi stayed a bit behind.

"...Looks like a Tavern," Connor says as I turn to Kuribayashi. "Alright, I and Kuribayashi will move up, and make contact, if we're lucky we can get directions, maybe even a map."

I say as I got off my horse, along with Kuribayashi. "Stay here, you hear a gunshot. Just know I didn't miss and I except your ass in the Tavern before I can make the other bastard scream."

I say to Connor as I and Kuribayashi began to walk up toward the Tavern. I quickly paused, as I turn to her. "...Might as well get the trust of the locals take off your gear, leave your rifles, keep the revolvers."

I say as I look around outside the tavern and saw a horse with poncho-like clothing hanging from the side. As I watch Kuribayashi stash our gear behind a barrel, I grab the clothing and put it on over my uniform, easily covering our uniforms. As I turn back to Kuribayashi, I gave her the poncho. As she puts it on, I nod.

As we enter, we were greeted with an almost empty Tavern, apart from what looked like a Grandfather and his granddaughter, maybe 15, or 16 on a nearby table. The girl was Oddly blue-haired as well.

As I Approach the Bartender, I was greeted by a redhead woman, wearing a coat, with wool trousers. She turns to us, leaning against the counter.

"Can I help you two travelers?" She asks us as I gave a nod. "We're looking for directions to the nearest settlement, maybe a map," I say as I reach for my pocket, having to awkwardly move around the poncho. Unknown to me, the girl noticed my Holster while I grabbed the currency of Sandera, A form of gold coins.

"And, your strongest drink," I say as she nods. As I sat on the chair, Kuribayashi sat next to me.

"I got a map somewhere here, Here's your drink while you two wait." She says as she gives us both an odd alcohol in a wooden cup. As I grab it, the Bartender leans towards me from the counter.

"So, Adventurer...you look quite young and handsome for these parts." She says with an odd seductive tone as I notice Kuribayashi getting tense, it looked...odd like she was jealous or overprotective.

"No Ma'am, Just a simple man, finding his way through the world," I say as she forms an even more odd seductive smile.

"Well...If this lady here isn't your partner, I'd be happy to assist before you leave on your journey~" She says, slightly moving her coat to reveal her cleavage.

"...I'll just take the map, and I'll pay you extra to knock it off," I tell her as she seemed surprised.

"...So you're not those Saderans pigs." She says as she raises her left hand to reveal a dagger.

"...Had to be careful, after all..."

"Wouldn't let the Yanks always be first."
