(Y/N)'s POV

"Form a Firing Line lets move!" A Colonel yells as I rush in with the first line, we just exited the Gate and were greeted by beautiful scenery, unfortunately, we didn't have time to take it in as More men in armor were rapidly approaching.

"Protect the Gunners!" I tell to my men, referring to the Cannons and The few Gatling Guns we were given as I ready my Henry rifle. I notice the two Japanese in our group a bit on edge, probably their first time in Combat as I hear the other firing lines begin to fire.

"Look!" Rawlins yells as I look up to see two Wyvern Riders approaching us rapidly. I curse under my breath and turn to the nearby Gatling gun installation. "Shoot the bastards up there!" I yell to them as I turn to my men. "Fire at will!" I told them as I start firing my Henry rifle into the crowd of soldiers and horses approaching us rapidly.

As I kept firing my Henry rifle at them, I curse as I heard the click of an empty chamber I quickly start to reload the rifle. I suddenly heard the rapid gunshots of the Gatling gun as I look up, watching the Wyverns get hit by a wave of lead as I quickly roll out of the way, one of the wyverns landing directly where I was as I turn to the rider who was still alive, I quickly approach the rider, trapped under the weight of the dead creature as I pull out my saber and raised it.

But as I was about to hit him, He covered his face with his arms. "Please! Don't! I only wanted to feed my family please!" The Rider Screams in fear as I stopped myself. I turned to Connor and Another Union Soldier nearby. "Take him, prisoner!" I told them as I aimed back at the approaching men.

As I start firing, I quickly noticed a man in medieval armor, injured but rushing towards Kuribayashi, slipping through the lines as he aims his bow at her.

"LOOK OUT!" I Yell as I quickly rush towards her, as I pushed her out of the way, I felt the Arrow impact my leg and I yelp in pain. Falling to the ground as I quickly Aimed my Henry rifle with one hand at the Man and fired a single shot, hitting him directly in the eyes.

I place my rifle on the ground as I groan in pain, looking at my leg. I watch blood oozing out of the impact site, the blue slowly being stained by a crimson red as Kuribayashi curses in Japanese and quickly rushes to my side as she quickly broke the arrow, leaving the tip inside.

"DOCTOR!" She Yells as Torin quickly rushes over. Torin begins inspecting the wound as he starts grabbing his medical equipment. "Don't pull it out sir, it doesn't look like it hit anything vital." He says as I turn to Kuribayashi who was looking at me with concern and in shock. "Are you Okay?" I ask her as she shakily nodded as I spotted a man in the side of my eyes.

I quickly grabbed Torin and pulled him down towards me, an Arrow nearly hitting his head as suddenly he was stabbed in the head, the bayonet going through his skull as Shart quickly kicks the lifeless body off his rifle and began to fire.

Torin looked up, shocked for a moment. "T-Thank you, sir!"

Time skip

Later Night

After the first battle, the sun was not set as I looked up into the starry sky, Sitting next to a campfire.

I glance toward my bandage leg, before turning to my hands, which held the ring of my beloved, Mary.

As I stare at the ring, sadness goes through my mind. I lost her, and my daughter...At least it wasn't because of the war.

I quickly put the ring away as I hear movement to my left. I see Kuribayashi sit next to me at the Campfire as she took off her hat and placed it beside her along with her rifle.

"...Why did you risk your life to save me?" She asks me as I look up at her, she had mixed emotions on her face as she looks at the fire. I sigh, rubbing my hands together.

"...The...War back home...took many men away, men I knew...we were fighting against brother and brother...I couldn't bare to see another one fall." I told her, not fully telling the truth as she turns to me.

"...Gunnery Sergeant Rawlins, told me about, your...partner and child...I'm sorry." She says as I looked away from her, looking away as I try not to show weakness or pain.

I suddenly felt my hand slowly being held by hers as I turn back to her. "Captain...I-"

She was cut off as gunshots from the sentries began sounding off in the distance. We both looked at each other for a moment before quickly grabbing our equipment and rushing toward us.

The cannons began firing along with the Gatling guns as I watch men get cut down. It wasn't even a fair fight as I watch the horses the enemy soldiers rode on get cut down.

It was a bloodbath, at least for them, we hadn't had the time to clean up the bodies from the last battle as simply bodies began stacking up.

Suddenly I heard a thud next to me as me and Kuribayashi quickly flinched. We both turned to each other and see an Arrow that nearly hit us. Stuck on the flag pole next to us as I looked up to see Old Glory still waving in the sky.

I then turn back to the carnage, seeing the explosions continuing as one thought entered my mind.

'To achieve peace, We wage war...'
