Minh's POV:

Kuribayashi and I have patrolled for at least an hour, seeing no sign of the Chinese MSS agents anywhere. As we were walking though, I saw a man almost getting mugged by 3 thugs. I went up to confront them.

Me (to Kuribayashi): Kuribayashi, stay behind, I don't want you to get injured.

Kuribayashi: But sir-

Me: No buts.

Kuribayashi obeyed and I walked up and stopped them while they were trying to mug him.

Me: Dùng lại. (Stop.)

Thug #1: Mày là ai? (Who are you?)

Me: Cảnh sát. (Police.)

Thug #1: Cảnh sát hả? Mày nghĩ mày rất là mạnh mẽ trong bộ đồng phục đó hả? Mày có biết bố mày là ai không? (Police huh? You think you're so strong in that uniform huh? Do you know who I am?)

Me: Tôi không biết câu là ai cả. (I don't know who you are.)

Thug #1: Thế được rối. (That's fine) I see he signals to the 2 other thugs) Bắt thằng đấy lại! (Get him!)

I know what they are trying to do, so I start to get my nightstick out.

When the two thugs start to rush me with knifes, I easily blocked them with my nightstick and parried their attacks.  Once I settled again, I see that their leader was trying to rush me instead. I went on a 1v1 against him and easily disarmed him and knocked him out cold. The 2 guys who rushed me earlier tried to rush Kuribayashi.

Me: Kuribayashi watch out!

Kuribayashi then got out her nightstick and started to absolutely pummel the 2 thugs rushing her. I then rush in to assist her, with both of us taking down one thug. We then tied them all together and called in the rest of the police to arrest them. We then continued with our patrol through the city soon afterwards.

Me: You okay, Kuribayashi?

Kuribayashi: I'm fine thank you.

We walked for another 10 minutes before we encountered some strange looking men.

???: Are you Lieutenant Lê?

Me: Yes I am, and who are you?

???: Captain Smith. We're the CIA SOG Agents you requested.

Me: Ah I see, and how about the Russians?

Captain Smith: They should be coming in a few moments. We wait here for now.

Me: Right.

Captain Smith then asks me something.

Captain Smith: Hey, Lê.

Me: Hm?

Captain Smith: Aren't you that Marine who got into Ghost Recon and stopped that coup in Russia?

Me: Yeah, that's me alright.

Captain Smith: Pretty impressive. I'm also a Marine.

Me: Which unit?

Captain Smith: 1st Battalion, 5th Marines. You?

Me: 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines.

Captain Smith: Ah. That's where the name 'M27' came from am I correct?

Me: Yep, the 27 is for us 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines.

Captain Smith: Well that's nice to know that I met another Marine.

Me: It's a small world out there.

Captain Smith (chuckles): Heh, right.

When we were done talking, Kuribayashi then got my attention.

Kuribayashi: Sir, the Russians are here.

Me: Alright then, let's go greet them, shall we Captain sir?

Captain Smith: We shall.

I then go up to some of the men in FSB combat uniforms.

???: Вы первый Лейтенант Ле? (Are you First Lieutenant Minh?)

Me: Да. (Yes.)

???: Я Mайор Денисов, а вот и Волчий отряд ФСБ Вымпел. (I am Major Denisov, and here, is the Wolf Squad of FSB Vympel.)

Me: Приятно с вами познакомиться. (Nice to meet you all.)

Major Densiov: Okay, just for ease of access, let's all speak in English. Don't worry, almost all my operators here are Russian-Americans.

Captain Smith: Well that's a nice thing to know.

Major Densiov: We should be expecting the MSS agents to come here soon.

Me: Wait, they're coming for this street?

Major Densiov: Yes. Mainly because you have the Special Region residents, so that's why they're coming for this street first, or maybe only this street.

Me: So what do you suggest Major?

Major Densiov: I'm suggesting that my Vympel operators take one side of the street and the CIA SOG and you Mobile Police operators take the left side. They will most likely be wearing their uniforms, so it should be easy enough to spot them. Once they get into their positions, we ambush them, with the element of surprise. And yes Lieutenant, I know that you're a Ghost.

Me: Hả? (Huh?)

Major Densiov: Some of my men here were former Bodark operators, myself included.

Me: So that means you should be my enemies then.

Major Densiov: But we aren't. Once I heard about Raven's Rock, some of my men decided to defect to the loyalist cause. We were the only operators with the same technology as you and we were able to sabotage some of the Raven's Rock outposts on our own.

Me: Well it looks like you guys have experience. Do you still have your tech with you Major?

Major Densiov: Yes we do.

Me: Well this should make things easier.

Major Densiov: But I believe Captain Smith here only has night vision, not stealth tech like us.

Captain Smith: Unfortunately the Major is correct. We don't have the same tech as Ghost Recon. And I believe your Japanese combat buddies don't have it as well.

Me: Yeah. Kuribayashi?

Kuribayashi: Yes sir?

Me: Tell Itami, Tomita, and Rory to come over here quick. We'll be moving to our positions in about 15 minutes.

Kuribayashi: Roger sir.

Kuribayashi then gets on the radio and we wait for a bit before Itami and his gang get here.

A few minutes later

Itami then greets us.

Itami: Hello Captain, Major sir.

Captain Smith and Major Denisov: Greetings to you too.

Itami: So what's the plan?

Major Denisov briefly explains the plan to Itami.

Major Denisov: -since we're the only first responders here, we won't have Vietnamese police reinforcements until after the fighting starts, though they are close to our position.

Itami: Yes sir. Lê, Kuribayashi!

Me and Kuribayashi: Yes sir?

Itami: We're going to our positions now, hurry.

Me: Already 1 step ahead of you sir.

A few moments later, right side of the street

Me: Kuribayashi?

Kuribayashi: Hm?

Me: Remember, stick close to me. I don't want you to run off like last time because you don't know the streets here well.

Kuribayashi: Yes sir.

We lie in wait for the MSS to try to assault us. Sure enough, when they thought the Vietnamese police were on a break, they decided to go into a convoy of vehicles on the street. Bad idea.

Major Densiov: Lê, are you ready?

Me: Ready.

Major Densiov: Start the ambush.

Me: Alright.

I wait for 3 seconds.

Me (through radio and to the CIA SOG agents): XUNG PHONG! (CHARGE!)

CIA SOG and Wolf Squad: XUNG PHONG! (CHARGE!)

We rush from our cover positions and start to shoot the sh*t out of these poor MSS agents.

Me: Nhanh lên anh êm ơi! (Faster brothers!)

I then see the MSS agents try to organize a defense.

MSS agent #1: 越南人来了！(The Vietnamese are here!)

MSS agent #2: 战斗站！(Battle stations!) (gets shot by Itami)

I look back at Itami.

Me: Nice shot Itami.

Itami: Well thanks.

When I look back, several MSS agents try to rush me instead, just like the thugs from earlier. I engage in hand to hand combat against them, which turned out to be easy since their CQC is more sloppy than mine. Once I get done with those agents, I see another MSS agent try to man the Type 80 MG on top of one of the vehicles, to which I proceeded to shoot him down.

Me: MG down!

We then continue our assault when I see Kuribayashi struggling with 3 MSS agents trying to capture her.

Kuribayashi: Lieutenant! Help!

Me: Coming!

I then use the buttstock of the Honey Badger to hit those guys in the head and they all fell down flat out cold. Kuribayashi then ran to me and laid her head on my chest. Even in them midst of battle, Kuribayashi can still find time to do that, something that I like about her.

Me: Kuribayashi, like I said, as much as I want you to do this, we have to move.

Kuribayashi (reluctantly): Yes sir.

Kuribayashi and I start to catch up with CIA agents.

Captain Smith: Seems to me that girl likes you.

Me: Hả? (Huh?)

Captain Smith (chuckles): Itami already told me you know.

Kuribayashi: GRR! I'm going to kill that damn otaku later!

Me: Relax Kuribayashi. (I put my hand on her shoulder) Relax.

I then scan my surroundings to see to more MSS agents.

Me: Have the MSS given up?

Captain Smith: No. Even though us and the FSB have eliminated the MSS on this street, it was a small portion of the force meant to assault this city.

Me: So they're trying to complete their objectives another way.

Major Densiov interjects.

Major Densiov: Correct Lieutenant. They're mostly likely going to go through another street to capture your "Special Region" residents.

I then do some thinking of which street they could go through.

Me: Are they going through Lê Trọng Tấn?

Major Densiov: I don't know lieutenant.

I then hear the familiar sound of Vietnamese police sirens in the background coming up to us. A 113 officer than comes out.

113 officer: Gentlemen, how's the situation so far?

Captain Smith: Not looking good. We've only manage to eliminate a small portion of the MSS force. We have determined that they are most likely going to use a different street to try to snatch the residents and try to salvage part of the city.

113 officer (assesses the situation): Well then. Thượng Úy? (First Lieutenant?)

Me: Dạ? (Yes?)

113 officer: Tiếp tục tuần tra của Thượng úy và Cảnh Sát 113 sẽ chăm sóc đường phố này ngay bây giờ.

Me: Rõ. (Understood.)

I turn back to the the CIA and FSB agents.

Captain Smith: So?

Me: He said that we should continue with our patrols, meanwhile the 113 police will take care of this street.

Captain Smith: Are we allowed to survey the other streets.

Me: He didn't say specifically, but he most likely won't probably care about us taking care of the rest of the MSS agents. Makes his job easier.

Kuribayashi: So what do you suggest now sir?

I then pause and think for a few minutes.

Me: We split up. Us and the CIA agents will patrol through Lê Trọng Tấn, while the FSB agents will patrol the other sectors. Major?

Major Densiov: Understood.

Me: Captain, you lead the way.

Captain Smith: Alright. All units on me!

A few minutes later, intersection of Lê Trọng Tấn and Trướng Chinh streets

We move up to the intersection of the 2 streets and spot about 10 MSS guys organizing some sort of convoy.

Me: Sir?

Captain Smith: Maybe we can ambush them while they're off guard. Lieutenant?

Me: Yes sir?

Captain Smith: Get your squad up there right in behind them and then wait for my signal to fire.

Me: Roger, Itami, now.

Itami: Got it.

Itami, Kuribayashi, Tomita, Rory, and I move up just behind the organizing convoy and wait for Captain Smith's signal to fire.

Captain Smith (through radio): Ready?

Me: Ready

Captain Smith: Alright. (yells out) Frag out!

Captain Smith and the rest of the CIA agents throw their grenades at the unsuspecting convoy and we begin to open fire on them, with Rory dodging their bullets and straight up rushing them and slaughtered them.

Rory: HAHAHA! I like the taste of blood!

Kuribayashi: Okay, Rory is just getting to creepy for a goddess.

Me: Very much agreed.

Itami: Lê, let's move up.

Me: Right. (to Kuribayashi) Let's go, and stick behind me.

Kuribayashi: Roger.

Our squad slowly walks and patrols through the street with the CIA agents right in behind us covering our 6.

Me (through radio): All units slowly move up. Sweep any MSS agents you see along the way.

Captain Smith (radio): Copy.

Once we reached deep into the street, we came across another batch of MSS agents, this time looking like a small outpost, with guards all around.

Me (to Itami, Kuribayashi, Tomita, and Rory): This must be their staging point. This makes so much sense now.

Itami: Why?

Me: Cause the backstreets here led directly to the back of our hotel, which they could snatch Pina, Bozes, Lelei, and Tuka.

Itami: So what do we do.

I notice four guards in the front of the entrance.

Me: There are 4 agents in the entrance. We're going to sync shot this. Pick your targets.

My target was a guy guarding a fence.

Me: Ready?

Tomita: Ready.

Kuribayashi: Ready.

Itami: Ready.

Me: Fire.

We fire one shot from our Honey Badgers and all 4 MSS agents fell down at once.

Me: Good kills, good kills. Let's get moving.

We use the darkness to our advantage and stealthily sneak past some of the MSS agents. We then see their command center.

Me: There's their command center.

Itami, Tomita, Kuribayashi, and Rory: Uh huh.

Me (through radio): Captain, we sneaked through their defenses and found the command center. Once you reach the area, kill all remaining MSS agents.

Captain Smith (through radio): Understood.

Me (radio): Major Densiov?

Major Densiov (radio): Hear you Lieutenant.

Me (radio): How are your forces doing sir?

Major Densiov (radio): So far we managed to find a secret radio center of these MSS agents probably with the intention of blasting pro-Chinsese propaganda through the city. Don't worry, we have already cleared the area of those agents and destroyed it.

Me (radio): That leaves just our team and the command center.

Major Densiov (radio): Right, we're heading towards your position now.

Me (radio): Roger.

Once I got done saying that, a Chinese MSS agent spotted us and sounded the alarm.

MSS Agent #1 (A/N: Different agent this time): 报警！越南警察！报警！越南警察！(Alarm! Vietnamese Police! Alarm! Vietnamese Police!)

MSS Agent #2: 准备好，去，去，去！(Get ready! Go! Go!)

Me: Get ready to engage.

We moved to a barrier and used it as our cover as Chinese MSS agents were swarming our positions. In the midst of all this chaos, a MSS agent somehow managed to get past all our Honey Badger fire and tried to shoot Kuribayashi.

Me: Kuribayashi, watch out!

I rushed up and shot the MSS agent.

Kuribayashi: Thank you sir.

Me: You're welcome. Itami, Tomita, how are we holding up?

Itami: We're doing well, though me and Tomita are almost running out of bullets, and Rory here is itching for a fight.

I peek up to assess the situation.

Me: It looks like we're going to have to rush this command center. Rory?

Rory: Yes darling?

Me: You go in front of us and block all the bullets coming towards us and we shoot them. Once you get to that building there (points to the command center), wait for us.

Rory: Got it.

Me (through radio): Captain, are your men almost to our position.

Captain Smith (radio): Just 1 more minute.

Me (radio): Alright, Major, how about you?

Major Densiov: We're close to your positions, ETA: 2 minutes.

Me (radio): Roger.

I look back to our squad.

Me: Rory, let's move.

As soon as I said that Rory starts swinging her halberd and blocks all the incoming bullets towards us while the rest of us start shooting our Honey Badgers at the agents, taking them down one by one. It was not long that we reached the outside of their command center.

Me: We made it. Now what?

Kuribayashi: Sir, I suggest we clear everyone inside the building and tap into their communications.

Me: Good idea Kuribayashi. Itami, Tomita, Rory, you go first, we'll be right behind you.

Itami: Got it.

Itami, Tomita, and Rory get ready to breach the door while me and Kuribayashi cover their backs and move in to the right side of the door.

Itami: Ready?

Tomita then places the charges.

Tomita: Charges set sir.

Me: Cover yourselves!

The charges then blast the steel door open and we storm inside the command center (which was a pretty small one to be honest) and kill the MSS agents inside.

Me: Check the corners, check the corners.

Soon enough, a guy popped out of the corner and started to blast us blindly, to which I easily shot him.

Itami: Room status?!

Me: Clear!

Kuribayashi: Clear!

Tomita: Clear!

Itami: Room clear!

I then go check their radio to see what their intentions of having this invasion were.

PLA Officer #1 (radio): 一旦我们占领了居民，我们将使敌人遭受痛苦. (Once we take the residents, we are going to make the enemy suffer.)

PLA Officer #2 (radio): 是的，我们将撤下该特别地区的越南混蛋. (Yes, and we are going to take down the Vietnamese bastard attache in the Special Region.)

I understood a bit of what they were saying, so I was able to piece everything together.

Itami: So what is their master plan Lieutenant?

Me: Their master plan for this operation was simply snatch the residents, take down as much of Hà Nội in their areas, and kill me.

Itami: Kill you? Like a planned assassination?

Me (through gritted teeth): Yeah....pretty much. Đ*t còn mẹ....

Kuribayashi then went up to me and hugged me while I clenched my fist in anger. Itami, Tomita, and Rory went outside so that Itami can explain the situation to the FSB and the CIA agents, and also to leave me and Kuribayashi alone for a bit.

Kuribayashi (while resting her face on my back): Sir?

Me: Hm?

Kuribayashi: You've been looking out for me and protecting me from harm that comes our way. Even though you know me as the one who can handle herself, I can't get this feeling out of my system.

Me: What feeling?

Kuribayashi: This.

She proceeds to lean into me and kiss me. To say for the first few seconds I was shocked, but eventually returned the kiss.

Kuribayashi: I wanted to say that.....I love you.

Me: Look Kuribayashi, I love you and all, but I'm afraid that we might get tried for fraternization. For all I know, the UCMJ could be on my a*s for this.

Kuribayashi: Sir, I don't care because that is how I feel and I'm not letting you go away in my life again.

Me: Jesus Kuribayashi, you're really stubborn for a female soldier. To be honest Kuribayashi, I love you too. Ever since I protected you from that arrow in Italica, I had the same feelings as you have. We both have lots of chaos in our lives, and my past girlfriends didn't really understand that. So.

Kuribayashi: So?

Me: If we can keep our relationship low and be professionals while on duty, then I will be willing to date you, Kuribayashi.

Kuribayashi: Thank you. And since we're close now, can you call me by my first name?

Me: Sure thing, Shino.

Kuribayashi: And you too, Minh, love.

She leaned up to me and kissed me again, this time with a bit more passion. What seemed like after a few minutes, we break it so that we can have some air.

Me: Okay, Shino, right now we have to see what the others are up to. Let's go.

A/N: Now I'm going to refer to Kuribayashi as Shino in Minh's POV from now on.

Shino: Yes sir!

We both then go outside to talk with the rest of the CIA and FSB agents about what the Chinese were planning to do if they had succeeded.

Major Densiov: -That's already very concerning. A foreign country's agents on Vietnamese soil with the objectives to not only kidnap the residents, but also to kill the Lieutenant in an assassination attempt and cause major damage to Hà Nội. Damn...

Me: Sir?

Major Densiov: Ah Lieutenant. Me and the Captain have already been informed about the situation. The Chinese are going to be in hot water for this.

Me: Yes sir. Their PLA officers said everything. About the whole reason tonight was to gain access to the Special Region without the world knowing.

Captain Smith: And they sure as hell failed at that because of us.

Me: Right.

Major Densiov: Vietnamese police and military personnel are already patrolling the city sweeping out any more MSS agents hiding in the city. Though we took out almost all their force, so we don't have to worry about them trying to stage a counterattack against us. Once we report to the US and the Russian government, they will take immediate action to condemn the actions by those agents tonight.

Me: But what if they say that you guys are foreign agents as well on Vietnamese soil?

Major Densiov: The Vietnamese government has got our backs as well, as we were allowed permission to enter into Vietnamese soil to expose these agents. Plus, we took pictures of their agents as evidence to show their involvement in this grand scheme of things.

Me: RIght sir. So what now?

Major Densiov: You and your squad need a break from tonight. We CIA and FSB agents need to go back to report to our governments.

Me: And I have to get a report for Washington as well. (I sigh)

Major Densiov: Uh-huh. Anyways you should get going, you're probably exhausted from today.

Me: Yes sir.

Major Densiov: Take care Lieutenant. Godspeed and Semper Fi. (he salutes)

Me: Ooorah!

Captain Smith: Once a Marine, always a Marine. Semper Fi. (he salutes as well)

Me: Yes sir! First to fight!

Captain Smith: Heh. Good luck, fellow Marine.

Me: Yes sir!

Once the CIA and FSB agents leave, Itami, Tomita, and Rory start to go back to the hotel first while me and Shino were a bit of a distance behind them, holding our hands.

Shino (lightly kisses me): You alright love?

Me: Yeah, I'm alright. Just tired of all these events....and the assassination attempt on my life. Never thought I would have to deal with that.

Shino: It's okay now. We stopped them didn't we?

Me: For now that is.

We continue walking back to our hotel, while I start looking into her face and smiled at the fact that tonight I got myself the most beautiful girl in my life as my girlfriend.

White House, Washington D.C.

3rd Person POV:

The President and his cabinet were in the Situation Room discussing the events of last night in Hà Nội.

President Dirrel: So it appears that the Chinese were behind the attacks last night. What were their primary objectives?

General Mattis stands up.

Mattis: Sir, from what we got from our agents and from Lieutenant Lê, they had 3 objectives. One, to capture the Special Region residents and to gain information from them through torture. Two, kill Lieutenant Lê in an assassination attempt and make it an accident so that they only have to deal with the Japanese. And lastly, they were also trying to cause major damage to Hà Nội itself.

Mattis then sits back down.

President Dirrel: That would start to make a whole lot of damn sense. Goddamn those Chinese agents....

The President pauses for a moment.

President Dirrel: So what do you all suggest we do now?

Mattis stands back up.

Mattis: Sir, us and the Russian government have agreed that if announce to the whole world through the United Nations of this incident, then maybe we could pressure the Chinese to back off of the Special Region.

President Dirrel: And if they refuse?

Mattis: Then the United Nations may sanction them temporarily.

President Dirrel: Alright then. Gentlemen, I need you to coordinate your actions with the Russian and Vietnamese governments about this incident. We need to expose their actions and what could have been a civilian massacre on Vietnamese soil by foreign agents. Understood?

Cabinet: Yes sir.

President Dirrel: Okay then. This concludes the meeting, dismissed.

President Dirrel then leaves the Situation Room back to the Oval Office to plan out the actions needed to forward this report of incident to the United Nations.

Back in Hà Nội, morning next day

Minh's POV:

I wake up from my slumber from the exhaustion. When we got back to the hotel, Shino insisted that she sleep next with me (not in that way) since we were a couple now. I eventually had to relent and here I am, waking up next to Shino and seeing her very pretty face. I smiled for a bit and woke up to brush my teeth and get dressed. As I was doing just that, Shino started to wake up.

Shino (yawning): Good morning love.

Me: Mornin' to you too Shino.

Shino then wrapped her arms around me.

Shino: Still reeling from yesterday Minh?

Me: Yeah, but I will get over it, like every other day.

Shino (slightly chuckles): I knew you would say that.

We both continue to do our daily morning routines and head out as soon as we were done.

Me: Hey, you should probably go first. I don't want Itami, Tomita, or anyone knowing of our relationship.

Shino: Okay, love.

Me (I briefly kiss her): Alright, see you later, Sergeant Kuribayashi.

Shino (giggles): See you too, Lieutenant Lê.

She then leaves me in the hallway while I figure out what to do for the day, since we had the day to ourselves.

Me (thinking): Well....this is going to be a long enough day for me to complain now. Eh, who cares? Maybe I can go to the bookstore and get me some Vietnamese poitical books to read. Or I could just go to the range and shoot some AK-74s. That should be fun.

I start to walk my way to the rest of the squad in the lobby, waiting for what the day awaits.
