Chapter 2

Camp New Frontier, New World.

25 Januari 2050.

0730.

Major Alfred Walken yawned quite widely, he had just woken up from his sleep in the tent built especially for the TSF pilots. He looked at Irma who had just entered in her gym clothes and was covered in sweat.

"You must be very smelly, Irma." Major Walken said with a laugh.

"Laugh all you want, boss, but this Finnish hottie has a fitter body than yours." Irma said while striking several poses like a bodybuilder.

Major Walken replied. "Hah! Like anyone would be interested in your body, I prefer Mama Goose."

"Heh, I'll report this to Mama Goose later." Lieutenant Irma said as she walked to her bed.

"Complain all you want, you know it's a fact." Major Walken said proudly.

"Yes, and the other fact is that you're a coward for not even daring to ask her out." Commented Hunter-3, Second Lieutenant Leo.

"Shut up, you fucking virgin." Major Walken said with a scowl.

"Haha! Da Qiao! Look at our leader scowling like a child!" Leo said with a laugh.

"You're no different, Leo, except that your chances of get laid with woman are almost below zero percent." Said Second Lieutenant Da Qiao who was reading a copy of an ancient Chinese literature book on her bed.

"Hey, Da Qiao! That hurt my heart!" Leo said while holding his own chest.

"I don't care." Da Qiao replied.

"Hehe, you guys remember when we fought the rebels in East Papua, Indonesia? Leo was hit by an Anti-Tank attack and his TSF was damaged, the first thing he yelled was 'Is my dick still there?!'" Major Walken and Irma burst out laughing at the memory, while Da Qiao only smiled faintly behind her book.

"Hey! That's humanity's only hope!" Leo shouted, replying to Irma's words.

"Don't even think about humanity's only Hope, Leo, just give up, you have bigger chance sleeping with a prostitute than have the chance to sleeping with a normal woman." Major Walken said.

"You're all evil, you'll see, there will be a lot of cat-eared girls coming my way!" Leo declared.

"Did I hear cat-eared girl?" They all then looked towards the tent door, there was a middle-aged Japanese man wearing a special outfit only for the Japanese Imperial Guard.

"Who the fuck are you?" Asked Leo looking at the Japanese man's appearance from bottom to top.

"Ah, I'm First Lieutenant Itami Youji, I was ordered to join you guys temporarily, greetings." Said the Japanese man named Itami Youji while bowing his body.

"Ah, the Japanese man Colonel Volga was mentioned last night. Welcome to the 66th Hunter Battalion, Lieutenant, I hope you feel at home in a place full of degenerates like this." Major Walken said to Itami while extending his hand.

Itami shook Walken's hand. "Believe me Major, I was once in a group that was more like a comedy industry than a serious combat team, I'm almost surprised how I didn't die in that group." Lt. Itami said with a sigh.

"Then congratulations, Lieutenant, you just entered a Battalion full of clowns and degenerates." Walken said with a light chuckle.

A few moments later.

Major Walken, Irma and Itami were now seen walking towards the Command Tent. Irma followed Walken because she was the replacement for Mama Goose as Walken's right-hand man, while Itami followed because he was personally assigned by the Empress of Japan, Yuuhi Koubuin, to observe the group that would surely be at the forefront in this New World.

When they arrived at the command tent, the three of them were inspected by two guards and had to hand over the firearms that were their sidearms. Walken and Irma had nothing to hide and directly handed over their sidearms to the guards, a factor because they were wearing TSF Pilot suits as well, so there was nowhere to hide the firearms, except the space version of the TSF Pilot suits.

Meanwhile, Itami, who was wearing a Japanese Imperial Guard Officer outfit, was intensively searched and found two pistols and seven knives of various sizes. The two guards who examined Itami looked at Itami with suspicious eyes.

"This bastard has a fucking Balisong." Said one of the guards.

"...We don't get paid enough for this shit, let them in." Said the other guard.

The three of them entered and were immediately greeted with a beehive-like scene full of many officers busy doing their respective tasks. They walked through it all and finally arrived at Colonel Volga's desk, the big Russian man seemed to be typing something on his laptop, Colonel Volga realized they had come and stopped whatever he was doing and cleared his throat.

"My Comrades, you have come finally." Colonel Volga said.

"Colonel, is there a reason why only A Platoon was called here?" Asked Major Walken entering his work-mode.

"Yes, since the construction of our permanent base is not yet complete and many of our defense systems are not yet active, the people in the Top said it would be wise if the majority of our forces remain in the Camp, but we must dare to step out of our comfort zone, that is the reason why I suggested Platoon A of your 66th Battalion to the Top Brass to conduct further reconnaissance." Colonel Volga explained.

"So you want me and my men in A Platoon to be the spearheads in this world? I don't mind, but what I do mind is... Who will lead the the rest of my Battalion? It's a miracle they haven't blown something up or stolen parts from the Motor Pool by now." Major Walken explained.

".... You're just worried about that, Major?" Asked Colonel Volga almost incredulously.

"Believe me, Colonel, they are all dangerous." Irma said suddenly.

"Hmm... What about your logistics officer? Will she be able to control... Your battalion?" Asked Colonel Volga looking for the right words.

"In theory, she can, but I heard that she won't be coming until the Air Base that can accommodate the HSST is completed and then she will be sent, as for the Warrant Officer, I already have one but he is more like a deputy to Mama Goose." Major Walken explained.

"So that's it, alright... I'll talk to General Xi about getting Battalion 66's Logistics Officer expedited, but for now, I want you and A Platoon to head out to this new world, make some friends or something." Colonel Volga said as he picked up a bottle of Vodka.

"Alone? You know it's just a death wish." Said Lieutenant Irma who let her mouth run south without control.

Major Walken immediately reprimanded Irma. "Irma, that's not how you talk to a superior officer, forgive her, Colonel, her mouth does like to talk rudely like that."

"It's okay, Major, I like women like that, you will be accompanied by an Infantry Platoon with two M113 APCs, Codenamed Vega-1, the leader is Second Lieutenant Harris." Colonel Volga said.

"Ah, Lieutenant Harris, I know him, a great guy." Irma said, remembering the name.

"Once again, my brothers and sister, explore this new world, make friends, don't make enemies and of course... Our main mission is to find out who is responsible for opening this Gate, is that clear?"

"Crystal clear, sir!"

Camp New Frontier, New World.

0945.

In front of the gates of Camp New Frontier, there were four F-22A EMD TSFs standing tall in Gun Sweeper loadout. Major Walken who was already in the cockpit of his TSF, noticed that the Infantry Platoon led by Lieutenant Harris was gathering for a briefing, he heard all their conversations and found that this Infantry Platoon was a veteran of the Battle of the Moon three years ago, some of the older members were also veterans of the Kashgar War about 10 years ago.

(For the Muv-Luv Fans out there who understand the lore, I changed some of the storyline to match the one I created, so Operation Ouka took place in 2040, not the early 2000s.)

"They're pretty good, right, Major?" 2ndLt. Irma said through the video call.

"I'm impressed, not many people can boast of liberating the world from BETA's rule, especially since many veterans of Kashgar or Cheorwon died in the Unification War in 2045." Major Walken said darkly.

"It was one of the many darkest moments in the history of Humanity." Lieutenant Da Qiao said with a small hum.

"Agreed with Da Qiao, and what else is great? We all survived through it, like a family." Said Leo who joined in.

"I can't believe I have to agree with you here, Leo." Da Qiao retorted in a mocking tone.

"Hey! I can be smart too, you know." Leo retorted fiercely.

"Surprisingly, Da Qiao, Leo is the smartest of us all, this asshole somehow has a much faster CCSE completion time, even than me." Said Major Walken who defended Leo in this argument.

"I still can't accept that fact." Irma grumbled while crossing her arms.

"Wake up, Irma, the world needs to know this handsome man is very talented." Leo said narcissistically.

Fortunately, Leo's chatter had to stop when Lieutenant Harris suddenly spoke over the intercom. "Platoon A! We're ready to go, please help us with this mission!"

"Pleased to help too, Lieutenant, I hope your soldiers and their little legs can go far enough." Major Walken said playfully.

"Oh Major, they will move mountains if motivated, Vega-1, let's move!"

Union Space Command Center.

The Superintendent looked at all the meeting attendees with her ever-present, gentle yet firm gaze.

"General Xi, any updates from the New World?" Asked the Superintendent as she sipped her coffee.

"Madam Superintendent, currently Camp New Frontier is under construction with many of the module facilities we have heading to Beijing, as for the exploration issue, we have sent a platoon of TSF with a platoon of Elite Infantry troops to search for intelligent life or the people who came through the Gate yesterday." Said General Xi who was reading the report through his tablet.

Lt. General Sebastian from the Eastern Europe region said. "What will we do after encountering them? This mysterious civilization entity will be enough of an obstacle for us to make that new world our new home, not to mention the other threats that definitely exist in that world which if you read the report General Xi gave, is similar to Fantasy World."

All the meeting participants agreed with Lt. General Sebastian's argument, during the battle that occurred when the people of the other world came, they found several bodies of monsters that were not BETA, the body parts were then sent to the nearest research facility on Formosa Island.

"I agree with you, Sebastian, but we must never be afraid to take a step, once we hesitate to take a step, then we will not be able to take a bigger step, we must conquer our fear of the unknown, I know all of us still have the scars from BETA, but we cannot stand by and only see from the side lines! We are leaders and must not be led by the wheel of fate that keeps spinning and never favors us, like I said before, tear it all down and become a braver and better person... Sorry, I'm making a speech here, Admiral Fang, please report on the search for the new Gate." The Superintendent said with an embarrassed smile.

Admiral Fang nodded her head. "Madam Superintendent, we were able to confirm that the Gate you found on the island near the Natuna Naval Base is indeed the same Gate in Beijing, the drone sent a short while ago was able to pick up the signal emitted from the transmitter at the New Frontier Camp."

"Our progress is starting but slowly, I have talked to some civil engineers and material companies, the construction of a Naval Base in the new World will take 4 months at the earliest, it will take a month to determine a suitable location for the base and the rest is construction, this is still a rough estimate from the engineers." Admiral Fang replied.

"That long... Understandably, building a harbor is not easy, if my suggestion is, why not use a concept like Mulberry Harbor first for the time being? Then if progress continues, our permanent naval base in the world can be realized." Said the Superintendent while snapping her fingers.

"I think Madam Superintendent's idea is brilliant, but almost all of our Mulberry Harbor modules have been destroyed or damaged by time and building them will take even longer than Admiral Fang's engineer planned." Lieutenant General Jayson Miller said.

"I agree with Lieutenant General Miller, the Mulberry Port module is expensive and also takes much longer, not to mention the transportation issues." Lt. General Sebastian complained.

Everyone in the meeting room pondered over that which was quite reasonable, until finally General Travis pretended to cough. "My fellow brothers and sisters, have you forgotten that the Mulberry Port does not have to use cement? Just take the example of when we retook Japan, since almost all the port facilities were destroyed by BETA, we had to get creative and make a cheap version of the Mulberry Port, using collected plastic items, unstable as hell, but reliable like old car."

Everyone immediately thought about the invasion of Japan a few years ago, especially General Takashi who was still a low-ranking officer that time and participated in the operation.

"Admiral Fang, you have obtained a solution from General Travis, try to find a place that is quite close to the New Frontier Camp so that they are connected, once again I emphasize that this new world does not have satellites or fancy gadgets that we always used in war, they are primitive, but we can still bleed and feel pain, never once underestimate the enemy, even if they fight us using only swords and bows, keep that in mind." Said the Superintendent firmly, her beautiful purple eyes staring at the Generals one by one with a gaze that was enough to make them all gulp.

After that, they went on to do some not-so-useful and useful things at the same time. Like the representative from Australia who AGAIN requested for unit support in their efforts to combat mutated Emu birds... Seriously, the Superintendent should really do a field inspection soon to verify their claims.

Then there was the report on the progress of the preparations for Operation Olympus. The Generals and high-ranking Officers in charge of the Operation reported that they had managed to meet the quota the Superintendent wanted, 50,000 soldiers to invade Planet Mars along with hundreds of space versions of TSFs and hundreds of space warships that... They couldn't really be called warships, but let them be happy for once.

The Superintendent had special criteria in selecting the soldiers who would go to Mars, she did not care about quantity, but quality was what the Superintendent was looking for, a few decades ago it had also been proven that a few high-quality special people could destroy a BETA Hive with effort, something that was really unthinkable for many people at that time even until to this day.

On top of that, humanity's population has been decimated by wars, mass starvation and diseases whose origins and names are not even known. Right now, the human population stood at 50 million and was declining every day, 2 percent of that number was part of the military, so the Superintendent, upon learning that the new world was really very human-like, really wanted to establish a permanent position for the Union of Mankind there as soon as possible, a backup plan in case Earth was completely uninhabitable.

The meeting ended and the Superintendent left the meeting room, leaving only a few Generals to continue their conversation. General Sebastian began. "You know, I don't think the title Superintendent is appropriate for her anymore."

"You better watch your damn mouth, Sebastian, don't badmouth her in front of me, no, don't even ever insulted her." General Miller said with an angry face.

"Listen to me first, goddammit, what I mean is... She has contributed greatly to the Human Race and she is the only one who deserves to rule us, if she is not in the leadership chair anymore, who will take over? The civilians? To hell with them, they are the reason the Unification War had to happen in the first place!" Lt. General Sebastian said passionately.

"It's true what you said, the civilians won't know what's going on in the field and only care about themselves." Miller said feeling that Sebastian's words had some truth to them.

"But, Lt. General Sebastian, we must separate civilian and military life, the two things are not good if they are mixed together." Retorted Admiral Fang who felt that it was a recipe for future trouble.

General Xi, who had been silent, spoke up. "Well, before this argument continues, why did you say that, Lt. General Sebastian? You must be have a good reason to say that, a good one at least."

They were all silent as they waited for Lt. General Sebastian's answer. He answered. "I heard that there was a rebellion brewing in the North of Arkhangelsk, neither their purpose nor their leader is known yet, but they attacked one of the guard posts and seized all the weapons in the armory, the Armored Rapid Reaction Force from St. Petersburg managed to take back the post, but it was hours too late, there were only a few of our soldiers who survived the attack, I'll let this be a secret for now, it will only add more burden to Madam Superintendent."

This suddenly made everyone quite surprised, the rebellion network reappeared after their last trace in the Persian region? It was really worrying.

"How could they attack and take over the post? This rebellion is not random then." General Travis said.

"I don't want to disparage our fallen soldiers, but it seems that they, the rebels, received the standard training of the Union Armed Forces that Madam Superintendent made standard at the founding of this new government... I suspect that one of the Council of Generals is a traitor." Lt. General Sebastian said, expressing his hypothesis.

".... If you say it like that, there must be someone you already suspect, right?" General Xi said while crossing his arms.

"That's right, I suspect the highest leader in the former Soviet Russia, General Mordvinov Boris."

Unknown Highway, New World.

1322.

Major Walken monitored the situation using his VIZ goggles with an interested gaze, throughout their journey on this new world, everything was beautiful and pristine, completely untouched by the destructive hands of man.

They, the Pilots of Platoon A of the 66th Hunter Battalion, did not immediately use their TSF because it was impractical. It would take a considerable amount of energy to use a Jump-Unit for a few hours, let alone this mission where they might not return home for days. Hence, to overcome this, Colonel Volga ordered all the TSFs to be carried on heavy transport trucks.

So he was currently riding with Lt. Irma, given that Lt. Irma was a temporary replacement for Mama Goose as Walken's aide.

"The road is surprisingly good despite being made out of dirt." Irma commented.

"Yes, but it would be very unlucky if we passed through when it was raining... This reminds me of something, India?" Asked Major Walken over the radio.

"Nah, Major, it's more like Thailand or Cambodia." Replied Lieutenant Da Qiao over the radio from one of the trucks.

"Well, the roads there aren't completely good or modernized yet, it's a real hell to drive through." Commented Lieutenant Leo who joined in.

"You big men and women mostly work in Asia? You missed the crazy party in Balkan." Lt. Harris said over the radio from the IFV Lynx that he used as his command vehicle.

"Oh, tell me, Harris, I'm tired of hearing the same story repeated over and over again." Lt. Irma said.

"There was a time when my platoon and some other units liberated a village on the border of Yugoslavia and Hungary, we were received by a small family, just a mother and her little daughter. The little daughter was really angelic and kind, but unfortunately her end wasn't that good." Lt. Harris said.

All conversation on the radio immediately stopped, everyone was focused on listening to the story from Lt. Harris, except for the veteran members.

"Fucking hell, this story again."

"War really makes people go crazy."

Lt. Harris shushed them, then he continued. "As we ate our dinner, we realized that the mother's daughter was absent and we wondered, the mother looked pale before going to search her room, but she was not there, we who were worried finally helped search, we searched every room and corner of the room, but nothing... We did not find the little girl, until finally we were about to enter the basement of the house but the mother did not let us in and forced us to leave, we who suspected something was happening immediately held the mother and forced her inside. What was our surprise when we saw a BETA from the Soldier class eating the little girl's body.... The girl's body was almost unrecognizable, what made us recognize the little girl was that her head hadn't been eaten, my friend, I see that face everywhere, the face of pain when your limbs are torn off like wet paper, that face to this day haunts me...."

Everyone was horrified to hear the story, they felt angry and sad when they heard the story, Leo then asked. "Why are there Soldier-class BETAs there? I thought you guys had secured the village."

"We did secure it, but we never once thought there would be people who went crazy and kept one in their house... You remember the theory of the origin of the Warrior class, right?" Lt. Harris asked back.

"...Yes, according to the scientists, the Soldier Class has human-like cellular tissue... It's either they were made from the humans consumed during this time or... Transformed into the Soldier Class." Lieutenant Da Qiao replied quietly but could be heard clearly.

"Turns out, it was the mother's husband and the little girl's father, at that moment we instinctively raised our weapons and rained hot lead or whatever we were holding at the time on the Warrior Class, the mother kept struggling in the hands of one of my men, screaming not to kill her husband, but we kept pressing the trigger of our weapons until finally our magazine that was in the rifle we were carrying had to be used up, the Soldier Class had become Swiss cheese." Lt. Harris continued.

"Shit, bro... That was really fucked up." Irma said while shaking her head.

"What did you guys do to her Mother?" Asked Lieutenant Leo.

"At first we wanted to punish her for being the indirect cause of the murder of the daughter she raised and cared for since childhood, but we decided to hand her over to the authorities." Lt. Harris replied.

"Like I said earlier, what a mess." Lt. Irma said in response to the end of the story.

"Do you know the fate of that mother, Lieutenant?" Asked one of his men over the radio.

"Well, if I remember correctly, when we were about to continue our journey to Hungary, we saw at the street lights of the village there were several bodies hanged by the locals, one of which was the mother I told you about, to be honest, I was quite satisfied with the end of this case, not too many plot twists like the new Hollywood movies." Said Lieutenant Harris who quickly changed the topic.

"Well, I agree, especially a movie with an agenda." Major Walken who understood that this was an uncomfortable story to tell, also changed the topic, Walken had been in Harris' position and he knew how it felt.

"Who would want to be LGBT when humanity's population is falling so drastically?"

What started out as a very heavy and dark conversation soon turned into one that was quite warm and full of laughter, especially with Lieutenant Da Qiao and Lieutenant Irma constantly mocking Leo for trying to flirt with one of Lieutenant Harris' female members.

Just when Major Walken thought the peace would continue, suddenly one of Lieutenant Harris' men shouted. "Smoke in the distance!"

"Me and my fucking thoughts..." Major Walken grumbled.
