DESCRIPTION

ZABRINA ASHFORD had always been content in her peaceful, isolated life at the lighthouse, distant from the world. Her art, family, and solitude were enough—until John B Routeledge entered her life, drawing her into a world she'd only observed. As she spent more time with him and the Pogues, Zabrina realized that belonging didn't mean changing who she was but stepping outside her comfort zone. She learned to embrace their chaotic adventures while still holding onto her need for quiet moments. Over time, she no longer had to watch life unfold from the outside, because for the first time, she felt like she could finally start living her own story.

SUMMARY

ZABRINA ASHFORD had always been content in her peaceful, isolated life on the outskirts of the Outer Banks, growing up in a secluded lighthouse that offered safety but kept her at a distance from the world. Her art, her family, and the quiet solitude were enough—until John B Routeledge entered her life. His easygoing nature, determination, and loyalty drew her in, tempting her to step into a world she'd always observed from afar. Slowly, he uncovered the layers of her personality, revealing the artistic soul beneath her quiet exterior. As she spent more time with John B and the Pogues, Zabrina began to see that belonging didn't require changing who she was but instead finding a way to step outside her comfort zone without losing herself. She embraced the chaotic, adventurous world they lived in, learning to balance the thrill of spontaneous road trips and secretive plans with her need for quiet moments of solitude.

As she became more entwined with the group, Zabrina discovered she didn't have to choose between the two worlds—she could have both. The Pogues quickly became like family, and John B stood by her side through every adventure, while the lighthouse remained her anchor, always there when she needed peace. Over time, Zabrina realized she no longer had to watch life unfold from the outside. She no longer had to look through the window, because for the first time, she truly felt like she could finally start living her own story. 

NOTES 

-plot is hugely inspired by the song waving through the window in dear evan hansen. you can change the title, but it has to be something involving this song or that goes along with it !

-this happens before season 1 of obx but you're more than welcomed to keep it going into the show to the end !!

-no john b & sarah in this fic !! i love them but to make this work they arent a thing in this fic, especially if you decide to go into the show 

-i havent picked out anything about her parents, family, etc so you can decide all that such as things like their names, fc, etc. 

-you can decide if she's homeschooled or goes to public school, was kinda thinking of her being homeschooled

-zabrina is an artistic so be sure to add that throughout the story somehow! she also is a great surfer, loves swimming, picking up seashells, etc.

-zabrina's isolated life means she's never been directly involved in the Pogues vs. Kooks rivalry, but being seen with John B could drag her into the fray. like especially if you continue to go into the show, could point this out more 

-themes of belonging, identity, breaking out of one's comfort zone, and the tension between isolation and connection play a big role in this story. zabrina learns to trust and open up to others while still holding onto her roots.

-when they do eventually get together was thinking of them having a secret relationship. the secret relationship between zabrina and john b. can stem from her parents' disapproval of the pogues, especially John B. as someone who grew up in a secluded lighthouse, zabrina's parents (or one parent in particular) may be overly protective, viewing the pogues as reckless troublemakers who could lead her astray.
