Blue felt his heart sink as he saw the darkened silhouette of the human slowly approaching through the fog, their glowing red eyes piercing through the haze.
"Halt, human!" He shouted, stomping his foot.
The figure paused for a second before continuing forward.
"H-Hey! Stop moving when I'm talking to you!" Blue exclaimed, crossing his arms and narrowing his eyes. "I, The Magnificent Sans, have a few things to say to you!"
The human took another step. Blue ignored their approach and continued in his speech. "First of all, you're a weirdo! You don't like my puzzles, you don't like my cooking, you always shamble around from place to place, with that creepy look on your face, your hands are always covered in that weird, dusty stuff..."
He sighed, shaking his head as the human stepped closer. "It feels like your life is going down a dangerous path... BUT! I, The Magnificent Sans, see a whole lot of potential in you! I believe that everyone can be a good person, if they just try! Look at me! I barely even have to try at all! Mweh heh heh heh heh heh!"
They slunk even closer. "OKAY SERIOUSLY! THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT!" The skeleton took a deep breath, recollecting his patience. "I think you are in need of some guidance! And I, The Magnificent Sans, am happy to provide that! I can be your friend! I can help you turn your life right around!"
He flashed them a grin, but it quickly fell as the human drew closer. "I see you are still approaching... Might you be offering a hug of acceptance?? Heh, wowzers! My lessons are already working!"
Blue closed his eyes and held his arms out to his sides, a hopeful smile on his face. "I, The Magnificent Sans, welcome you with open arms!"
Just when he was starting to believe that he was getting somewhere, the human darted forward, knife raised and ready to strike.
He suddenly felt the cold blade of the knife slashing across his ribs, his eyes stretching wide as pain flooded through his chest. Blood began to gush from the wound, staining the front of his t-shirt dark red.
He felt tears beginning to form in the corners of his eyes as he fell to his knees, his blood dripping onto the snow-covered ground beneath him. He could feel his body beginning to turn to dust as the human walked past, their cold, dead eyes focused on the path ahead.
Blue lowered his head, wincing as the pain suddenly began to spread throughout his bones. It burned... almost like he was being scorched from the inside out. At the same time, it felt like his form was growing stronger and more stable, like he wasn't on the verge of death at that very moment.
But the blood continued to flow from the open gash in his chest, despite the fact that his body seemed to be healing itself. He shuddered. This didn't seem right...
He suddenly let out a grunt as a sharp jolt of pain sparked at the center of his chest, but oddly enough, it wasn't where the cut was. No. It was his soul that was hurting.
The sound of distress caught the human's attention. They turned around, tightening their grip on their bloodied knife. "Why are you making such a big deal about this all of a sudden? You've never drawn out your death like this before."
Blue drew in a shaky breath, clenching his fists and gritting his teeth as pain shot through his arms, the source being at the tips of his fingers.
"Hm. Maybe I need to double-tap you this time...?" The human crept closer, their knife glinting in the pale light.
Another grunt of pain escaped the skeleton, and his entire body seemed to be wracked with some sort of spasm. The human narrowed their eyes. "What's your problem? Did I not hit you hard enough the first time?!"
Blue's breathing began to escalate as pain tore through his hands once more. But it was different this time. Not only did it hurt, but he could have sworn that his gloves were getting tighter.
He looked down, his soul skipping a beat as he realized that something sharp was beginning to push against the fabric of his gloves, right at the tips of his fingers. His fears were further amplified by the fact that he could hear the sound of something cracking... which just so happened to be his bones.
"Well... I guess it won't hurt to just put you out of your misery," the human sneered, crouching down next to Blue before suddenly stabbing their knife into his back, causing him to cry out in agony.
"S-Stop! That h-hurts!" the skeleton pleaded, tears streaming down his face.
With a sadistic grin, the human twisted the knife, and Blue shrieked as a result. But it wasn't solely because of the knife in his back. It was also because of a sharp wave of pain down his spine, which was so intense that it made his entire body tense up. He ignored the sound of fabric tearing as his still forming claws ripped his gloves apart.
"P-Please... Y-You don't have to do th-this..." Blue insisted, his voice weak. "Y-You can still be a g-good person..."
"Why are you still talking? You should be dead!" The human pressed down harder on the knife handle, plunging the blade deeper into Blue's back, the blood seeping through his shirt and staining it.
But the reaction they got this time was different.
Blue abruptly began to arch his spine, his backbone appearing to stick out slightly before a distinct ridge formed down the back of his shirt, and the knife that was firmly lodged between two of his upper vertebrae began to somehow move out of place.
"What the hell...?"
The human quickly took back their knife and stepped away, watching the skeleton's feeble actions with narrowed eyes.
Suddenly, Blue's spine began to snap and reset itself, causing him to fall down completely in the blood-stained snow. He groaned as his midsection seemed to stretch out, just as several massive spikes suddenly burst from the back of his shirt, having formed along his vertebrae in a matter of seconds.
His body convulsed as pain continuously rippled through him, his limbs jerking uncontrollably. The human couldn't help but feel slightly unnerved by the changes, being that they had never encountered something of this nature in previous timelines.
Blue's legs began to restructure themselves, his joints popping and rearranging themselves as his feet elongated, the tips of his toes growing into curved claws, which ripped through his boots within moments.
He finally managed to get back into his hands and knees, merely seconds before he let out an agonized wail, throwing his head back, his spine arching backwards in a very unnatural manner, his body being contorted in ways the human didn't think it was supposed to have been.
As he screamed, his voice suddenly deepened mid-cry, morphing into an animalistic howl of some sort. The human shuddered. This wasn't right...
For once, they were feeling something besides bloodlust...
...And that feeling was fear.
They backed away from Blue, dropping their bloodied knife in the snow as they tried to make themselves less threatening. "H-Hey! I'm not gonna hurt you anymore! You can stop doing... well, whatever this is!"
The skeleton groaned softly, though it sounded more like a beastly growl than anything else. He began clutching at his skull, his newly-formed talons digging into the sides of his head.
"B-Blue...? S-Say something, will ya...?"
The only response they received was a loud snarl as he continued to claw at his skull, just as it began to splinter and shift. His face stretched forward into a muzzle, his teeth growing sharper as large horns erupted from the back of his head. His face suddenly split from his nose socket all the way to his browline, causing him to let out another crazed shriek.
The human could see the skeleton's ribs beginning to press against the fabric of his shirt as his ribcage expanded, his clothes eventually ripping apart as his body continued to grow even larger.
His bones were becoming longer and thicker, gaining much more mass than they usually had. A tail had sprouted from the base of his spine at some point, lashing out behind him like a whip.
The blood gradually stopped dripping from the gash in his chest, which was somehow healing itself, despite the fact that Blue wasn't visibly using any sort of healing magic on himself. (That wasn't even possible to begin with.)
The massive beast finally managed to rise to his feet, looming over his tormentor threateningly. He let out a booming roar, sending chills down the human's spine.
They stared up at the creature that Blue had become, their eyes wide with terror. This wasn't what they wanted!
They slowly put their hands up, still backing away. "Please... I-I'm sorry..."
The beast snorted, tossing his head as he skunk forward, his tail swaying behind him. Blue smoke began to pour from his maw, a strange, rumbling sound echoing through his ribcage with each breath he took.
"I-I can fix this... I c-can..." They trailed off as they heard a low-pitched whine, almost as though someone were charging an attack.
Then they realized it. They could see the ice-blue magic energy building in the back of Blue's parted jaws. There was no way to escape it now.
Within moments, Blue released the built-up energy, letting loose a huge beam of pure arcane energy, obliterating the human on the spot.
Once he did that, he looked around, desperate for another target. But, seeing as there was no one else around him, his primal, crazed mind finally let it go.
Slowly, the anger drained from his thoughts, and he managed to relax. It was over... at least, for now.
And he wasn't dead. All thanks to the beast within him.
It had saved his life. And that was all he could have hoped for.
There ya go! Some Blueberry suffering to keep you satisfied while I try to finish part 2 of the previous oneshot! :D
And if you didn't want this... TOO BAD! EVERYBODY HAS TO SUFFER, AND THE MIGHTY SORA HAS DECIDED TO TORTURE BLUE, HA!
This one was a bit... bloodier, amirite?
Actually, it got a bit bloodier than I originally intended... XD
Oh well! I'll try to get part 2 of the disease oneshot done in a little bit. For now, stay determined!
