I wanted to help- BanBan and Player angst
Gripping tightly onto their remote the player marched around a corner and down a hallway, the sound of running echoing behind them. Each footstep sounded closer, their heart racing in their chest as they desperately tried to ignore the voice calling out to them. The player didn't have time to talk, they knew what they needed to do and wanted to ignore all distractions.
Clenching his fists the almost seven foot tall demon stomped behind the player, desperately trying to catch up to them. His words seemed scrambled even in his own head as he pleaded and begged for just a moment of the player's time.
Looking forward and past the player is when he realised how he could finally get their attention. Without second thought BanBan sprinted as fast as he could past the player, banging his fist on the wall of the end of the corridor. With a loud thud the metal doors slammed shut.
The player finally stopped in their tracks right in front of BanBan, looking up at him with wide eyes. The demon's breath was heavy, his chest rapidly rising and falling. For a second it made the player forget that he wasn't technically alive, he hadn't been for a long time.
"Please..." BanBan started, his voice quiet. "Just listen to me for five minutes."
Silently the player looked up at the demon, his eyes dilated and soft. His expression looked genuine, for a moment the player thought he truly was remorseful. But as they took a step back his face lost its softness and before they realised what happened BanBan grabbed them by the wrist and pulled the player close.
"Please, I just need to talk to you." BanBan muttered, squeezing the player's wrist.
"Let go of me!" The player yelled, desperately trying to pull their arm away.
"I just want to apologise, please just listen, this isn't fair."
The players eyes widened as they managed to yank their arm away. Slowly, they took a step back, moving their other hand to hold their now sore wrist. BanBan took a step towards the player, making them take another step back.
"This isn't fair?" The player repeated.
BanBan's apologetic smile faded as he looked down at the player. He opened his mouth to speak but no words came out. Despite finally having their attention he found himself lost for words. Gently rubbing their wrist the player looked down at the floor.
"What isn't fair is coming to collect your kid from daycare only to find out the whole business is a front for human experimentations and ending up on a wild goose chase. Desperately trying anything to try and find them only to end up being stalked by some crazy psycho who thinks he's a dead man. That isn't fair." The player mumbled as they looked up at BanBan with tears in their eyes.
Slowly, BanBan took another step towards the player. "I just want to help you, please, I can help-"
"Do you even know where they are?"
Banban fell silent, his eyes widening as he stared down at the player. Sighing the player leaned against the wall, bringing a hand to their face to rub their brow.
"Listen, even if you mean well you have no place to tell me what is and isn't fair. I'm here to find my kid and go home, nothing else. I'm not here to make friends, not here to bond. Even if you were another parent I wouldn't care." The player muttered.
Slowly looking up at BanBan the player sighed again, their arms crossing over their chest. The demon looked down at his hands, both of them shaking slightly.
"I just want to help you." BanBan whispered.
Sighing loudly, the player took off their jacket. BanBan looked over at them, his head tilting slightly before his eyes widened. Scattered all over the player's arms were bruises as well as a few small cuts.
Taking a step forward, BanBan reached out towards the player who slapped his hand away. It was only then that BanBan noticed the bags under the player's eyes and the tears forming in the corner of them. Their whole body was shaking, their chest rapidly rising and falling as their breath hitched.
Bringing their hands to their face, the player slid down the wall they were leaning against. BanBan quietly sat down opposite to them, placing his hands in his lap. Letting out a shaky breath the player looked over at Banban.
"I just want to find my kid, I don't even know if they're still alive, for all I know I could be going through all of this hell just to find them dead." The player blurted.
"I'm sure they aren't dead." Banban whispered.
"But do you know? Can you tell me with full confidence that they're alive?"
BanBan fell silent again, looking down at the ground. The player wiped away their tears before hugging their legs against their chest. BanBan copied the motion, quietly looking over at the player.
"You don't know where the kids are, neither do I. The only one that does hates my guts for some reason." The player spoke.
"Maybe we can work together to find them?" BanBan hopefully questioned.
Standing up the player sighed again, looking down at the red demon. "No offence but the last time I accepted your help I ended up getting smacked around the head and left with a concussion. I get you want to help so help me by leaving me the fuck alone."
The player put back on their jacket, gripping onto their drone remote. Letting out a deep breath they looked down at where BanBan was still sat.
"Goodbye, Uthman. Please don't follow me." The player muttered.
And with that the player walked away, leaving BanBan alone in silence. He looked down at his hands again, his thumb of one hand brushing over his claws. Taking in a deep breath as his claws slowly grew, his body trembling slightly as tears formed in his eyes.
"I just wanted to help.." BanBan whispered.
