" So when were you going to tell me about your friends?" Marina asked Elisa. 

" I um... *sigh* Look Marina it's very complicated. People think gargoyles coming to life are just made up, do you think other people would believe this would happen in real life?" Elisa asked her sister and made a good point. 

" Okay fair point. But I still can't believe this. Real-life gargoyles. " Marina looked at everyone with amazement and sure had questions in her head but didn't know which one to ask first. " I'm sorry. I just never thought this would happen." 

" It is alright lass, it can be quite a shock to see all of us. But surprisingly you're not frightened right away." Hudson said as he did wonder why. 

" I supposed because I always read fantasy books and wonder if I would ever meet anyone that is mythical." Marina explained. 

Brooklyn thought Marina was a little funny and cute too. 

" I suppose that's fair. I've seen lots of readers who dressed up in different types of costumes that are based on our time." Lexington said. 

" Wait, on your time? Where are you from?" Marina asked. 

" We are from the year 994 from Scotland." Goliath tells Marina as she starts to feel lighted. 

" Huh? I think um... I need to sit down for a minute." Marina went over to the balcony's edge and sat down to take a breather for a few minutes.

"Let's give her some space." Elisa says to everyone and heads back inside the clock tower but Brooklyn looks over to Marina and comes over to her side. 

" Hey, you okay there?" Brooklyn asked as he came to her side. 

" Uh, I think so. I'm still processing the fact you are all a thousand-year-old gargoyles, and trying to figure out how is this possible?" 

" It's pretty simple actually. There was a mage living in the castle..." 

" You lived in a castle?!" Marina asked excitedly. 

Brooklyn smiled as he liked Marina getting all excited with her questions. 

" Yes. It's not as big as these buildings but still big. Anyway, the mage who worked in the castle put a sleeping spell on all of us because he thought the princess of the castle was dead. The spell was meant for us to sleep until the castle rose above the clouds, which Xanatos did by taking the castle and attaching it to his building. Now our own home wasn't safe anymore we didn't have a place to go until Elisa told us about this place." Brooklyn told Marina as she paid attention to what he said and felt terrible for him and his clan.  

" I'm sorry you all had to go through that. That's not fair to either one of you.  But how are you getting along with this century? I'm sure you have lots of questions." 

"We've gotten used to this century for maybe the first few weeks. It's been nice knowing a lot of new things, but there are times I do miss my family back home. Speaking of which how are you Elisa's sister? You two don't look related at all." Brooklyn was curious about Marina for this question. 

" Well, that's because I'm adopted. I was found on my parent's doorstep on the day I was born. So I don't know who are my birth parents and I don't want to know because I already have two amazing parents who have loved and raised me as their own." Marina tells Brooklyn. 

" When it comes to family it doesn't matter where you come from it only matters if you share the love and compassion as they do." Brooklyn said as Marina felt heart-struck. 

" So um... do you fly or glide?" Marina asked as she needed to change the subject.

" I glide. It has been challenging gliding over the city since this island is huge, but it has amazing sights to see." 

" Really? Cool. I've always wanted to know what it feels like to soar through the sky. I sometimes dream I'm flying through the city. But it's just a silly dream."Brooklyn looks at Marinna as she looks out to the view and thinks about soaring through the sky. 

 " I got an idea. Wanna go for a glide? We can check out the city, and see the sights." 

" Is this idea safe?" Marina asked

" Of course. Goliath has done with Elisa dozens of times. Trust me." Brooklyn said as he held out his hand for Marina. Marina has always wanted to fly and decides to take her chance. 

" Sure." Marinna took Brooklyn's hand as they stood on the ledge for a moment then Brooklyn carried Marina bridal style and leaped off the ledge. 

Marina held onto Brooklyn tightly as they took off as she felt shook up for actually gliding through the air. Marina closed her eyes for a moment as they almost ran into a building but the updraft helped them up and Marina peaked through her eyes and saw how amazing the city looks from above. 

" Whoa, this is amazing. I mean wow." Marina said as she looked around the city. 

" It sure is amazing. My friends and I didn't want to stop gliding around the city after our first sight seeing the city. Broadway couldn't stop trying out all the food carts." 

" *Giggle* I kinda figured when I first saw him as I took my photos of you guys." 

" You're a photographer?" 

" It's more like a hobby. I still have no idea what I want to do." Marina said as she felt down as she sure didn't know what she wanted to do with her life. 

Soon Brooklyn and Juliet made it to Times Square and landed on top of one of the buildings to take a rest. 

" This is my favorite part of the city." Brooklyn tells Marina as he looks out to the view. 

" Wow, what a view. I've seen pictures of Times Square, but nothing like this before." Marina looked over and saw all the people just passing by as people were going to go see Broadway shows. 

" When I was little I've always wanted to perform on stage, but it wasn't meant to be. I tried to sing in front of a crowd once but I tripped on my dress and ruined it, and all of the kids at school laughed at me for weeks. I've never sung again after that night at least not in front of a crowd." Marina said as she had her head down feeling sad but then felt Brooklyn lifting her chin to look at him. 

" Don't beat yourself down, Marina. You're too good for yourself to do that." Brooklyn said as he didn't want Marina to feel down and started to feel a little better. 

" Thank you, Brooklyn. Do you think we should head back? I'm sure everyone is wondering where we are." 

" I think they can wait a few more minutes.  I would like to know your favorite place in the city." Brooklyn wanted to know more about Marina. 

" Well, if you want to know it's Belvedere Castle in Central Park." Marina blushes as she tells Brooklyn about her favorite place. 

" Then let's go." Brooklyn said as he got on the ledge. 

" What? Now? The place is closed by now." 

" What better way to show off your talent." Brooklyn held out his hand as he felt Marina take his. 

Brooklyn carries Marina in his arms and flies over to Belvedere Castle. It took them about ten minutes to get there and landed somewhere on the grounds. 

" Beautiful isn't it?" Marina said as she looked around the castle. 

" Yeah, beautiful." Brooklyn said as he looked at Marina. 

" When I come here I sometimes imagine everyone in the city being happy and living in peace since the city is full of hate and fear right now, where this place will be the rebirth of the new kingdom.  There are times I imagine I'm from a different world and I'm an actual princess. There's even this song I used to listen to that fits perfectly with it too. I must sound so childish to you." Marina said as she looked away she felt her cheeks blushing. 

" No of course not. It doesn't hurt to have dreams. Speaking dreams are you ever going to sing?" Brooklyn asked as Marina stopped in her tracks and she looked back at Brooklyn. 

" Uh...I don't know Brooklyn. I've never sung in front of anyone in a long time. What if I mess up, and you don't want to hear me sing anymore?" Marina felt insecure as she didn't feel ready to do this. 

" I'm sorry, Marina. I never meant to push you like that. Maybe it's best if we head back." Brooklyn felt embarrassed as he didn't think that part through. He gets ready to climb up the castle until he hears music. Brooklyn looks over his shoulder and sees Marina's tape cassette playing a song.  

When the world outside comes
Whirling like a windstorm
And it seems my fondest dreams
Have faded all from view 

Marina sings her heart out as she pretends to be the princess she imagines in her kingdom. Brooklyn watches Marina and he can't believe how beautiful her voice is and doesn't want to stop listening. 

This is where you'll find me
In my magic palace
Turning every storm cloud
A lovely sky of blue 

In my kingdom here
With no one but me
I can wish the world 
The way it should be 

Suddenly there's kindness, poetry and art
In my kingdom of the heart

Looking in her eyes there
I become the princess

Marina pictures herself in her dream dress and crown. 

People bowing gently
Caring for each other 
Every man his brother
Every moment filled with grace

In my perfect place
Where songs will inspire
Every family blessed 
With food on the fire 

Marina twirled around as she kept singing her heart out as she didn't care who heard her anymore. Brooklyn couldn't believe this shy girl didn't want anyone to hear her sing. 

Every prince and pauper gets to play his part
In my kingdom of the heart

And while I am wishing, how sweet it would be
With a someone to share it all with me 

During the instrumental part, Brooklyn takes Marina in his arms and dances together to the music perfectly for them. 

Make him kind and clever
Sensitive and smart 
One who'll live forever
In my kingdom of the heart

Marina stopped singing as the music stopped which made them both stop dancing. Marina's imaginary dress and crown disappeared from her head as she faced reality once again.

" Wow um, this is was fun. Thank you, Brooklyn." Marina said as she smiled happily. 

" You're welcome, Marina." Brooklyn said as they started walking around the ground. The sound of the clock chimed 8 pm. 

" Oh, my goodness. It's eight o'clock my parents are going to kill me." Marina said as she freaked out at how far away they were from the police station. 

" Hold on tight." Brooklyn tells Marina as she holds onto him as he climbs to the top of the castle. Once they reach the top of the castle they glide back to the station. It didn't take long for them to return to the station as they saw everyone coming outside and landed on the balcony. Brooklyn puts Marina down and they looked at each other. 

" Are you okay? You must be tired from carrying me." 

" No, not at all. I had a great time tonight though." 

" Me too. This cheered me up after today, which I'll tell you tomorrow because right now I just feel happy." 

" There you two are, where were you two?" Elisa asked the both of them as she and Goliath did not look happy. 

" Or not." Marina mumbled to herself. " Well, Brooklyn and I were talking and he wanted to take me out for a glide which was amazing actually." 

" Well, what's not amazing is Mom and Dad wondering where you are. I told them we lost track of time and you'll be staying with me tonight." 

" Elisa, I'm sorry we lost track of time. I finally have found friends and I made one small mistake. " 

" We just want you to be safe since there are a lot of dangers out there we still don't know about and knowing us will be difficult to be kept secret." 

" I promise you I won't say anything. But you are right about the dangers out there in the city. I'm sorry." Marina said as she felt terrible but didn't mean to get anyone mad. 

" You just need to be more careful but I'm happy that you are making friends with the clan. We should get going since it's getting late." Elisa tells Marina as she starts heading downstairs. 

" I guess this is goodbye. I'll see you tomorrow, and thank you again for tonight Brooklyn. I had a wonderful time." Marina hugged Brooklyn as she felt him hugging her back. 

" You're welcome, Marina. And hey, don't let anyone get you down or stop you from what you want to do. With that voice of yours, I think you can go far." Brooklyn said and made Marina's heart flutter more. 

" Okay, I'll make sure to do better on that. Well, I better get going. Goodnight Brooklyn." Marina said as she walked back inside and left with Elisa. 

" Goodnight, princess." Brooklyn said to Marina quietly as he sighed happily. 

Marina looked back at the station as she thought about the gargoyles she looked forward to seeing them again.
