[The film/game begins in the Hinterlands as we zoom in on the Holiday Trees]
Narrator: Twas a long time ago, longer now that it seems, in a place that perhaps you've seen in your dreams. For the story that you are about to be told...took place in the holiday worlds of old. Now, you've probably wondered where holidays come from. If you haven't, I'd say it's time you begun.
[The Halloween door opens and we descend down into Halloween Town, with the same scarecrow from the movie, where the awards for Halloween are just finished being given out]
Mayor of Halloween Town: And now, the award for the most spines tingled by a non-corporeal being....
[In the town hall, Jack Skellington and Garfield stood on the stage with the Mayor on the podium.]
Mayor of Halloween town: Another magnificent Halloween, Jack and Garfield.
[Jack and Garfield bow as the crowd cheers.]
Jack Skellington: This year's Halloween was the most horrible yet! Thank you, everyone!
[They back up as the curtains close, then Garfield puts a hand to his chin deep in thought]
Garfield: Something's missing... There's got to be a way to make Halloween more hideous, more terrifying, more frightening... (sighs) This can't go on... You've got to do better, Garfield.
[The scene changes to Dr. Finkelstein's laboratory]
Dr. Finkelstein: A new Halloween?
Jack Skellington: A fresh, new and improved Halloween, Doctor. After last year, we can't just do the same old thing; we should all be inspired to do something different. We need new scares, new ideas, new discoveries.
Dr. Finkelstein: New discoveries, eh? I think I have just the kind of thing you're talking about. (takes out a jar with a moving green blob and a box with a fist in it) I call it the Soul Robber and the heavy metal fist. Take them, Jack, Garfield. I'm sure it'll come in handy.
[Jack opens the jar and the Soul Robber jumps out onto his hand, taking the form of a snake. Then the metal fist went on Garfield's hand fitting perfectly on his claws.]
Jack Skellington: Oh! Hmmm.
[He swings his arm and the Soul Robber latches onto a nearby pumpkin before pulling it back into Jack's hand]
Jack Skellington: Amazing!
[Jack puts the pumpkin down and Dr. Finkelstein controls his chair to move away]
[Garfield used the fist to punch a pumpkin]
Jack Skellington: Exactly, Doctor, exactly! That settles it. We'll head out in search of more new discoveries for next year's Halloween. Oh, Doctor, please watch after things while we're away.
Dr. Finkelstein: Oh, now, I'm certainly looking forward to next Halloween!
[He trundles off. The scene changes to Clifford, Shriek and Lube running out of the laboratory. Lube trips but gets back up and joins Shriek and Clifford]
Clifford: Jack and Garfield's leaving town!
Shriek: Now we can bring back Oogie and Jinx!
Lube: Yeah uh, how hard can it be?
Clifford, Shriek, and Lube: (mischievous giggling)
[They run on. Text appears, reading 'December 23rd'. The scene changes to a view of Jack and Garfield's house from Sally's and Pomni's room in Finklestein's laboratory as Sally and Pomni [with a ball and chain attached to them] is seen folding a piece of paper. Pomni turns and closes her eyes in hope]
Pomni: I hope this finds you, Garfield... wherever you are.
Sally: And I hope this finds you Jack, wherever you are.
[They go over to the window and throw paper airplanes out of it. They flies off as the screen fades to black and the sound of Oogie and Jinx laughing can be heard]
Sally: [Shouting] Hurry, Jack!!!
Pomni: [Shouting] Hurry, Garfield!
