Chapter 2: Winds of Change

The man stood grinning confidently, showing pure white teeth. He's dressed in toga like garb, and had many pieces of jewelry. He seemed a slight bit younger than Urbosa, but definitely older than Zelda and Link. Then, the Champions draw their weapons. The look of confidence and he yelps as he dodges a few bomb arrows and lightning strikes.

"Din's tits are you trying to kill me?!"

"YES!!"

"Why? You guys didn't even let me finish explaining! I'm not here here to fight! If I was, your princess would already be dead, and I would have kept the Sheikah Slate. You know, one of the most valuable pieces of equipment on this planet! I noticed that there's a few things missing, and I can help you find them!"

The attacks stop, and Ganondorf breathes a sigh of relief.

"Okay, so you'll see a really small button in the top left of your screen. Press that, and it'll take you to another window, where you'll see a strange emblem for those life like pictures. Although it's not obvious, but during my couple of hours borrowing it, I found that there are supposed to be things there. It took me some time, but I think I got a basic idea on where these areas could be. The place you call the Great Plateau. But I think this shrine is damaged, as there was also something else that needed to be activated before the shrine could activate. The point of origin of the signal that is linked to these shrines is also somewhere there."

"H-how do you know this?"

"I've been searching for something. Apparently, the  Sheikah buried a special armor set that they recovered from Zonai ruins deep in certain shrines. I need the Sheikah Slate's map to do so, but it hasn't been activated yet. Said armor has a history with... my past lives, and I'd like to recover it. But, also, I have another benefit, that's more suited for you princess."

He holds out his hand, and the wind blows harshly suddenly. They shield their eyes from the kicked up sand. Ganondorf raises his hand above his hand. The wind condense into a single pressurized ball of air, swirling and howling. Zelda uncovers her eyes and stares in awe.

"Y-you can use magic?!"

"Yep! All Ganondorfs were great mages! I can help you learn to harness your goddess traits."

He notices their uncertainty, and his smile drops. He dispels the ball of winds, and bends down to his hands and knees. He bows his head and touches his head against the ground.

"I beg of you princess. I never want to follow in the paths of my predecessors. I swear that I shall never turns my blade against you or your kingdom."

He takes out a dagger, and carves an 'X' into his palm. Zelda cringes as blood slowly drips into the sand. She gently grabs his hand and wraps it in gauze.  She raises his head.

"I will allow you to help us. I hope that you keep your promise."

"I will."

He stands up, but suddenly pulls her close and raises his hand, summoning a shield of vortex like winds. Two arrows, aimed directly at Zelda, are knocked away. He glares at the area before seeing a glint at the top of one of the massive statues.. He summons a lance of wind, and launches it up at the assassin. The wind lance explodes with a roar, sending the assassin tumbling to the ground. Ganondorf catches them, but then slams their face into the ground. He growls as he realizes who he has pinned down.

"Yiga Clan. So you did follow me. I've told you again and again. I'm never going to be like my predecessors."

"It doesn't matter! Ganon will return! And you can't do anything! YOU WILL  BECOME THE KING OF DARKNESS AGAIN! WE WILL RETURN TO GREATNESS!"

Ganondorf bends down and growls in their ear.

"There will be now greatness if Ganon wins."

He grabs the Yiga Clan member, forces their head up, grabs both sides, twists. With a snap, their body falls to the ground lifeless. He turns and helps Zelda up. He glares at the body.

"I hate the Yiga. Blind bastards are only going to destroy themselves."

"Thank you. But... was that death necessary?"

"Well, no. It shouldn't have been. But if I had let them go, they wouldn't have tried to run, they would have tried to kill you."

He gently moves around the corpse, guiding Zelda around it.

"We should move. There might be more."

They turn and leave the statues, heading to the canyon out of the Gerudo Desert. Vah Naboris marches in the distance, occasionally smiting some unfortunate monster that crosses it's path. They make their way to the stable. Zelda, Link and Urbosa get their horses, while Mipha emerges from inside. She stares in shock at Ganondorf.

"Princess, who is that?"

"This is Ganondorf. He is helping us upgrade the Sheikah Slate, and has promised that he isn't a threat to me and Hyrule."

"Oh. Very well, I trust your judgement."

She hops onto the back of Link's horse, leaning gently onto his back. They turn to Ganondorf.

"What about you? What are you going to do? Walk?"

"Well yes, I could walk at a decent pace with you, I do have my own horse."

He inhales, and lets out a piercing whistle, startling the horses. They wait, and suddenly hear a loud whinny. In the distance, a dust cloud is being kicked up by a massive quadrupedal creature trampling towards towards them. It's a massive horse, much larger than any before seen. It slows to a trot as it get close and stops in front of Ganondorf. It huffs and shakes it's neck, ruffling it's magnificent fiery orange mane. It wears a saddle and bridle with Gerudo art adorning it. It whinnies again and stamps its feet. Ganondorf laughs and strokes it's neck.

"Always the dramatic one aren't you, Dusk?"

"You named your horse Dusk? A fitting name. With their dark coat"

"Thank you, Lady Urbosa. He liked it, and it fit, so I went with it. Well, lets get going."

He gently trails his hand down Dusk's neck, and gently hoists himself onto Dusk's back. He reaches down and grabs a strange sword. Said sword is curved slightly like sickle, but maintains a familiar sword structure. Urbosa moves closer to admire the blade.

"That's a strange sword. Similar to our own scimitars, but yet different."

"Yep. I made it recently, and fashioned it with Sheikah designs in mind. I made it from a strange metal from a rock that fell from the stars. It's incredibly light, so I have a theory that Sheikah technology uses the same metal, which would explain why Sheikah parts float."

Zelda trots up excitedly.

"May I see?"

"Sure. Here."

He hands her the blade, and true to his word, Zelda is able to lift the blade with little effort.

"Wow! It truly is incredibly light!"

"I know. I plan to make another, as I still have some scraps left over."

"Oh! Might I see this metal before you forge it?"

"Of course. The camp where I forged my sword is by Rito Village, hidden in a cave near a small hill and some ruins. There are a lot of monsters, but they know not go near my cave."

"We'll head there after we activate the other runes for the Sheikah Slate."

They arrive at the bridge, but spot something lying on the stack that links the two bridges.

"A Hinox! What is that doing there? Where are the patrol guards?"

"No doubt over there."

Ganondorf points and they see them cowering behind a couple of rocks.

"Can't say I blame them. Hinox are scary to normal people. Let's get rid of that think. Zelda, my sword."

Zelda hands Ganondorf his sword, and he charges. Revali draws his bow, and pulls back three bomb arrows. As Ganondorf's sword strike wakes the Hinox, he lets the three bomb arrows fly, right into the Hinox's eye, causing to screech in pain. Ganondorf circles the Hinox as it thrashes in pain, slashing at any part that wasn't threatening to crush him. As the Hinox shakes off the pain and tries to stand up, Ganondorf makes Dusk buck him over the Hinox's head. Ganondorf uses his wind magic to turn around midair, and then drives his sword down into it's large bulbous eye. It screeches one last time, before falling dead. Ganondorf quickly gets off the giants corpse. He smiles as it explodes into a cloud of dark energy. Ganondorf stands up and whoops.

"Woah! That big guy is skilled!"

"Indeed. Even I have never seen such skilled wind abilities, even my own."

"Oi! Get your butts over here! We need to get to the Great Plateau!"

"I think we can trust him. For now. Let's go. We shouldn't let him get too far away."

The champions start  to follow Ganondorf, who laughs as he cleans his blade.

"They go down easier than you'd expect!"

"Well, you do seem abnormally strong."

"Well living in a harsh,  monster infested desert really encourages you to build up body strength. You and I must arm wrestle, Lord Daruk."

They continue to travel, before finally reaching the base of the Great Plateau, the sun beginning to set.

"Now the problem is getting up there."

"How are we going to do that? Revali's Gale can only support himself, and I don't think Daruk can throw all of us up there."

"We don't need to. Daruk! Can you pry that flat rock from the cliff?"

"Yeah? Why?"

"Do so, and we just might have our way up."

Daruk walks to the cliff and pries the rock free, before setting it on the ground. They all dismount.

"Alright everyone get on!"

They cautiously do so.

"Ok Revali, use your Gale. I'm going to funnel it under the stone, and see if we can get up there."

Revali nods and channels his power. Ganondorf slowly guides the winds to the underneath of the stone, and yells:

"Now!"

Revali releases the power, and at first, nothing happens, but then they shoot up like a corkscrew. Daruk pulls everyone closer, then activates his protection. Darukk then yells at Ganondorf, who is crouching as they rocket upwards:

"ARE YOU SURE THIS WILL WORK?!"

Ganondorf:

They scream in terror as they ascend, before they launch a slight bit over the cliff face, and landing on a camp of Bokoblins. Ganondorf pops out of the rubble, his hair all ruffled up. Daruk disengages his protection, letting the other emerge.

"Well, we're here! The Great Plateau! Where the hero starts his journey. But we shouldn't go now. Night is falling, and we've been traveling for a while."

They clear away the Bokoblin and boulder remains and start the campfire again, Daruk pulling out a pot and some cooking ingredients. As they all sit down to eat, Zelda shuffles closer to him.

"Excuse me Ganondorf. Can we... ask you something?"

"Shoot. What is it?"

"Why... why were you alone? Why were you out in the desert? Even Urbosa didn't know of your existence, as surely something as dramatic as your  birth would be known across the kingdom."

"Long story. But since we have times to kill, I suppose I could tell you."

They quiet down and stare expectantly Ganondorf as he pokes at the fire.

"Evidently, it all started back when I was born..."
