Chapter Fifteen
Stuck In Lala Land
Lucas and Demetri stood outside the door waiting for Chantel to open it. She rolled her eyes once she saw them.
"I told y'all this was a girls night." She said letting them in.
"Y'all never include us in the stuff y'all have. So we came to party." Demetri said holding two bags filled with snacks.
"And ever since you started dating my brother you never hang out with us." Lucas said slightly jealous.
"Can we not talk about this right now." Chantel told him.
Demetri stood off to the side drinking his tea. He knew Lucas had wanted Chantel first, but it seems as if Julian stole all the girls. Demetri was always in the middle of funny ass drama.
"Promise we'll talk about this later?" Lucas asked.
Chantel nodded her head before going into the living room where the rest of the crew was.
"Look who decided to show up!" Chantel said as Demetri slid across the hardwood floor with his socks on.
"Demetri always extra." Octavia said laughing.
Chantel sat in front of Tiny and started to paint her toe nails.
"Can I take these off my eyes now?" Tiny asked reaching for the cucumbers.
"They were supposed to help with bags under your eyes." Octavia said frowning.
"This is why we can't always trust the Internet." Chantel said laughing.
"Lemme try and do them." Lucas asked Tiny reaching for the polish bottle.
Chantel handed the bottle over and watched as Lucas poorly painted.
"Don't paint my whole toe!" Tiny exclaimed slapping the back of Lucas' head.
"Y'all gone stop hitting me."
"Demetri why you over there?" Octavia asked seeing Demetri on the couch while they were on the floor.
"Y'all already know in just here for the snacks." Demetri said holding a family size bag of chips.
Later the night everyone was sleep, except Chantel and Lucas. The tension was thick and suffocating.
"So, about earlier..." Chantel dragged on.
"I don't know what you see in my brother. But he bad news." Lucas said as he ate some chips.
"Everyone keeps saying that." Chantel said.
"But its true. The last girlfriend he had got pregnant by him and somehow she disappeared out of thin air." Lucas said catching Chantel's attention.
"I'm not sleeping with him if that's what you think. Why are you quick to say those things?" She asked.
"It's because I like you. But he was quick to snatch you up." Lucas admitted.
Chantel sighed. Lucas however looked at her directly in her eyes. Ever since the first time he saw her, he knew he wanted to be with her.
Chantel did not want to pick sides. She had her loyalties with Lucas and with Julian. She liked Julian but he was so problematic for her that she couldn't see it right now.
"What do you expect me to do? Just drop Julian and act like I never liked him? He's your brother. This would just start a war between you two." Chantel explained.
Lucas rolled his eyes not caring about what she had to say about to his brother. He just wanted Chantel to understand that sometime in the future Julian would hurt her.
"Just be careful. And don't sleep with him." Lucas told her before turning to the side and falling asleep.
"Don't turn over. We are going to talk about this." Chantel said pulling him to the bathroom.
"What?"
"Tell me about him. No one has. Not even him." Chantel spoke her voice falling silent.
Lucas scratched the back of his neck. He was nervous. He wanted to ruin their relationship, but not like this. Fuck it.
"One of his ex's Remy. They were high school sweethearts. They did everything together. I can't remember a lot, I was in like middle school. But she ended up pregnant. She tells him and I remember hearing them argue. But then she disappeared. But she came back and now she's dead." Lucas said saving Chantel off some of the other memories.
Chantel had thought back to when Julian told her about Remy. And how he shot her in her apartment.
"He tried to tell me but I wouldn't let him." Chantel said looking down the hall to see if anyone was listening.
They both spoke in a hushed tone. It was three o'clock in the morning.
"He's reckless. That's why when I turn of age I'm taking Dee and we leaving. I can't just up and go without my little brother. Julian is a monster. He'll yell and scream over little things and have full on fighting sensations with the furniture in our house." Lucas told her.
Chantel still couldn't believe what she was hearing. But she wasn't about to believe Lucas for everything he said. Julian would have to show her his bad side first, in order for her to believe.
"You still don't believe me." Lucas said in disbelief.
"I can't say if I do or don't right now-"
Chantel was cut off with a kiss.
