Everyone stared in awe as Kai strutted into the room.

"I do have one quick question though, Officer Katelyn,"

"Actually, it's commander Katelyn now."

"Whatever, my point is, why is Aaron here? Doesn't he get a trial? What ever happened to innocent until proven guilty?"

Katelyn smirked. "You obviously are new here, things work differently here in Phoenix Drop, we have had too many casualties because of that law, too many unnecessary deaths because of it, so he must stay here until his trial."

"That's interesting," Travis sighed, his cheeks turning pink.

Katelyn rolled her eyes, Kai laughed, but I stayed silent, thinking about Aph was all I could do.

Donna
The woman who lay before me made me almost scream. I couldn't believe that she could be my best friend, the one who had always watched out for me when I needed it most. How could this be her?
I didn't see Aphmau, I only saw a bloody, burnt husk of someone who's dreams had been crushed under the weight of destruction. Yet somehow, it was still Aphmau. A tear rolled down my cheek.

"Thank you for letting me see her," I sniffed before I headed for the door. "I have to go now."

Aphmau
I heard what sounded like donnas voice as I opened my eyes. My ears could still be playing tricks on me, the inside were still caked with dried blood.
I tried to lift my hand but couldn't, then I remembered, Aaron was in trouble.
I bolted upright and immediately regretted it. Doing so sent a sharp pain shooting up my back to my head which forced me downwards again. I started writhing in pain, what I felt, it was like it jumped straight out of a nightmare. I could barely move, my vision was clouded, I heard ringing in my ears. A migraine built a home in my head and stayed there, I wanted to scream, but my voice would let me. All I could do was sit there in absolute agony.
Doctor Zoe noticed I was awake and walked over.
Her presence alone seemed soothing, something about was comforting in a way. All my pain seemed to run away as she approached my bedside. I could talk again.

"I want to see him!" I cried out, hoping she could hear me.

She watched me sorrowfully, knowing she couldn't do anything for me.
Then she perked up.

"Aphmau, why don't you record him a video message and I can get someone to take it to him!"

I smiled as much as possible and grabbed my phone with my newly functioning hands. Zoe left the room and I begin, this meant the world to me.

Aaron
The jail cell kept getting colder yet somehow more welcoming as time went on. Katelyn and Kai had gone out on a patrol and Dante and Travis had went to get something to eat. It was just me and Ein.
I waited for him to say something, something about Aph that would break my heart, it had already happened when I chose him as alpha when I wasn't there for her. I knew it would come.
But just as it seemed he was going to mention it, a figure came running down the hall, he stopped in front of the cell, panting like a dog (which was understandable, considering he was a werewolf).

"I'm looking for Aaron Scarph!" He shouted.

"That's me!" I pressed against the bars.

"I have a delivery from the hospital I work at, I message from one Aphmau Lorde."

My eyes widened.
He held out a device and I snatched it from his hand as fast as I could. Aphmau's phone!

"Thank you.... Uhh..."

"Daniel! My name is Daniel." He glared at Ein.

I turned on the phone and used my thumbprint to unlock it. It opened to a video of Aphmau. I was screaming inside, I didn't care if anyone heard it, I had to listen now.
I pressed play.

"Hi Aaron, it's me, they said I wasn't strong enough to come visit, so I recorded this for you instead. I hope that's okay, anyways, I hope nothing too bad has happened to you, last I saw, there were some police men hauling you away and it worried me, but I'm sure you're okay, I mean, they can't arrest you for saving my life right?"
She giggled.
"I just got out of surgery an hour ago or so so sorry if I look a little tired. I wanted to tell you that I miss you so much and, I'm sorry I ran off like that, it was immature and irresponsible of me to try such a foolish stunt, but at least I was able to get Levin a present in the process, don't tell him if he comes home soon but, I got him a special surprise, just tell him mommy has something for him when he gets home okay?
If you are able, please let Donna, Kawaii~Chan, and Zane know that I am not dead, only mostly dead."
She winked and giggled again, I grinned at the reference to our favorite movie.
"I'm hoping to be well enough to come home soon, I can't wait to see you when I get there! I love you, Aaron."
A small tear trickled down my cheek, she really thought everything was okay, that I was back at home with Levin waiting for her. It broke my heart.

"Wow, she really loves you..." Ein smirked.

"Yeah," I said as I started a new video, I was going to have to tell her the truth, I knew it would hurt her, but getting her hopes up only to let her down would hurt even more.
When i was done, I gave the phone back to Daniel and watched him run off.
