I can't wait to see Aph!
I thought to myself as I drove along the all too familiar road of Willow Lane, where I first met Aphmau. Phoenix Drop is such a charming little town, nice people who respect you for who you are.

I pulled up to her driveway and jump out of my car. I cheerfully hop up to her front door and go for the doorbell. But before I can ring it, I hear a loud roar of laughter from inside.

Is there someone in there with her?!

My mind instantly comes up with the worst possible scenario.

Did she get a new best friend?! What?!

I start to turn away, maybe she didn't want to see me but my hand seemed to move on its own, ringing the doorbell without my permission.

I hear giggles and a female voice say that it'll be right back soon followed by the sound of a video game being paused which was also concluded with the sound of fast paced running.

The running footsteps open the door. There she stood, the girl I loved for so long, the one who I had once wished was mine. My best friend.

She covered her mouth with her hands and gasped, her eyes widened.

And we stood there.
Just staring at each other.
And that was when it happened. She pulled away from her face and stroked mine gently. Her soft fingertips caressed my cheek. My mind flooded with memories. When we both truly loved each other.

"It really is you........" She smiled and tackled me in the biggest, softest bear hug I had ever received.

This moment was soon ruined by the voice of another man say to something that he would also be right back and a tall, muscular, tan dude walked into the doorway and looked at us.
He was wearing black shorts and a red hooded vest with an open chest.
That bothered me.

"Aph, who is this?" He asked my best friend.

"Hey!" I snarled. "Only I can call her Aph!!!!"

"Zane! Chill!" Aph attempted to calm me down. I was known to get upset easily.

"Are you trying to steal my best friend?!" I hissed.

"What?! I don't even know you! Aph never mentioned you!"

I jolted. I stood still in shock. She never even mentioned me? What? But we were best friends!

"Zane.... I'm sorry, I didn't think you were ever coming back."

Those words thrust themselves into my heart. It shattered.
