Volume 3 {Chapter 9: Battle for Beacon}
Vale... One of the most civilized countries in Remnant. Its history is as deep-rooted as heroes themselves. Men and women who would fight hell and back to save this beautiful continent.
Across the many places in the world, Vale has the least racial concerns for Faunus and most used CCT tower. The main tower is there and houses many international calls and text across Remnant.
If it were to fall, the world would go silent and go back to the dark ages.
That is why we have people to protect it.
That is why...
A guardian shields it from danger.
For a guardian guards all. That is its eternal promise.
'Wherever you go, whatever you shall do. May your Guardian Angel watch over you.'

The Amity Colosseum's protective barrier held its shields against the giant Nevermore attacking it as the audience ran to safety from the Grimm. With so many people here, it was too much to simply left as is.
Good thing the arena houses champions and warriors that battled here, and they have come to protect the innocents.
"GO! GO!"
"Hurry!"
"Get to the Airbus! Let's go!"
JNPR, Ruby, Aigis, and many more instructed the civilians and students alike to move towards the tunnels as the Grimm are invading the stadium.
Most don't have their weapons right now on account to be unneeded, but now the situation was dire and Beacon needs every able Huntsman and Huntresses to defend against the threat.
Pyrrha stayed around the center of it all; due to her weapons being recovered, she was playing rear guard in case the shields fall. Aigis was next to her with {Athena} at the ready to plug bullet holes into the enemy.
While the red-head was still shaken up by the fact that she tried to murder Penny, or a robot acting like her, Ruby and Aigis consoled her and reminded her that it was alright. Even if Penny did die, Ruby would still forgive her for the mistake. None can change that fact.
With her heart filled with forgiveness and sincerity, Pyrrha felt right with the world and is prepared to shield everyone.
Just in time too.
With one final clash, the Nevermore broke through the barrier and landed at the center of the arena. The massive gust of wind nearly swept them off their feet as the giant Grimm cried out.
*Kiiieeeeeeeeek!*
Just as the Nevermore stooped its screech, they attacked. "{Athena: God's Hand!}"
At the same time, Pyrrha dashed forward with incredible speed. The giant fist made contact with the Grimm's beak and broke clean through. With a cracked beak, it can't call out its brethren nor attack without risk of damaging it.
Whether it knew or not, Pyrrha saw a chance at its broken appendage as she dashed headfirst with her shield in front. Aigis saw what she was doing and supported her the best she can. "{Sukukaja} {Tarukaja}"
The champion felt the buffs coming to her and rocketed to its beak. The Grimm now felt the rising danger that was Pyrrha and distanced itself by flapping its wings and feathers at the champion.
She blocked most of them but didn't waver in the slightest from the barrage of razor-sharp feathers.
With the red-head closing in on her target, the Nevermore sought to escape to the air but found opposition in its way.
{Athena} drove its spear to its tail to prevent it from going off the ground and screeched at it.
With a flap of its winds, hundreds of feathers pierced through the sky to find its intended target. However, it was all for naught as {Athena} disappeared from thin air.
Instead of hitting it, the feathers found themselves lodged between the chests of Griffins and Nevermore alike flying around the stadium. They fell prey to their comrades' attacks and suffered a death like no other.
With its escape and means of attack gone, Pyrrha closed in on the Nevermore and bashed her shield against its beak.
*BREAK!*
Like glass, the beak broke into multiple shards of bone and blood as it covered the seats with it. Pyrrha wasn't done as she shoved her sword deep within its skull and jumped away.
With its beak broken and a piece of metal stuck in between its skull, the Nevermore flailed around itself in hopes of hitting someone but air.
With the beast in chains, Pyrrha sough to end its tragic life and commanded the steel of her weapon to pierce its insides and brain with ease.
Now with the giant Nevermore finished and killed, Pyrrha summoned her sword back to its owner and got rid of its innards.
Just as the battle has ended, another one soon made its way there.
Manticores and Griffins all sat near the edges of the arena with curious eyes and prepared to kill the students within.
Aigis and Pyrrha all leveled their weapons at them and aimed.
Just as they were about to attack, multiple lockers made contact with them and crash-landed to the arena before them.
The rocket-lockers opened up for the weapons to reveal themselves to its owners.
With everyone having their respective weapons, they all stood near each other and readied themselves for a wave of Grimm.
One of them, a small Nevermore, was about to strike on an unsuspected Ruby Rose and kill her.
When...
*Bang!*
A bullet found itself lodged within its body and limped to the side. Ruby swiveled her head to see who fired that shot and found her teachers there.
"Students! I think its time you leave this to us!" Port loudly bolster with Blowhard in his hand.
"But we can-"
"Ms. Rose." Oobleck cut her off and explained his own. "This day will surely go down in Remnant's history. I'd prefer it if my students could live to tell about it."
"But what about you?"
"Not to worry, Professor Peach is with us."
The two turned around to see a glimmer of light from the distance and Peach aiming down her scope to snipe one of the incoming Griffins.
*Bang!*
"13..."
*Bang!*
"14..."
Oobleck mused himself and urged them to go.
With no way to tell them otherwise, Ruby nodded and motioned others to leave as well.
Aigis placed a comforting hand on her shoulder and nodded at her. "Let us go. We have a job to do."
"... Your right. Come on!"
The android put on a small smile and readied {Triton} and {Athena} for battle.
*Ka-cha!*
A flash of light made Aigis turn her head to Velvet, who meekly looked away and ran with the others.
With no one else in the arena, the Huntsman and Huntresses in Training all rushed to save their schools and defend it from Grimm.

Ironwood stumbled to himself to one of the onboard shuttles as it closed its doors from a recent explosion. The bullhead had all but brushed aside death and escaped the flaming ship.
It all happened so fast that Ironwood didn't think for a second that there could be a back-up plan that included a bomb on his ship.
He grimaced harshly as he made his way through the crowds of men and women on board and went to the pilot's seat.
Thankfully, most of the crew members escaped just before they can meet their demise and be now in jets and bullheads alike. The weaponry in these vehicles could hold off a small army of Grimm at best, but now with a massive wave of them here, no way.
To make matters worse, Ironwood saw multiple unidentified bullheads dropping off Grimm in the stadium and Beacon.
And the worst problem of all, a breach in Vale's borders.
Ironwood gritted his teeth in anger and punched a nearby wall with his right hand. As expected, it dented and shook the ship a bit before resuming control once more.
'Calm down, James. This is no time to feel sorry for yourself.' He breathed out air and sucked in once more, calming his mind and assessing the situation.
"Can everyone hear me?" He tapped the earpiece beside his head and the comms for every ship came online with replied for him. "Good. Listen up everyone, we got Grimm invading Vale and Beacon, and the civilians are in the middle.
I want three teams of bullheads and sharks.
Team 1: Evacuate the citizens along with the airbuses, make sure no one is dead. "Yes, sir!"
Team 2: Provide cover for any active Huntsman and Huntresses in the area. "Copy that!"
Team 3: Suppress fire on any Grimm you come into contact with. Either help with Team 1 or 2, just make sure that the Grimm is held back. "General, sir!"
Alright, people, this is what you all trained for. If you ever make it out alive, I will personally see that you have moved up a rank and is considered a hero in Mantle and Atlas. So make sure that plenty of you survive!"
"OORAH!"
Ironwood felt the morale of his soldiers rise from his speech as the bullhead he was in took to the skies.
He then felt an oncoming message on his Scroll and tapped his earpiece. "General here."
"Uncle Ironwood!" The voice of Penny made him raise an eyebrow. "Can I be of assistance as well?"
"... Are you sure?"
"I am combat ready! Father also agrees, so long as I am ready to protect my friends."
"Then head to Vale. You're with Team 2 to help the Huntsman keep the Grimm at bay"
"You can count on me." The call ended on his end as Ironwood readied his men.
With the orders set in stone, it was time for Atlas to step in and take control.

Yang ran to the courtyard with Zwei in tow as she was worried about her sister. She was just minding her own business when multiple explosions went off in the distance and the siren went off around her. With questions to ask, she ran to where the heart of the matter is with Ember Celica loaded.
She had already called Blake and Weiss and told them the situation here at Beacon, with White Fang dropping off Grimm by the dozens and cutting down the Atlas sentinels. Yang was deeply worried that Ruby might get herself in trouble and she wasn't there.
But that will never happen. Even if the public tells her to never fight, she'll destroy those chains that hold her down and fight damn it!
Just as she rounded a corner, the wall nearby exploded as Yang covered her arms from the debris.
When it settled, Yang saw Adachi lying on the broken rubble with the {Shadow Grimm} right beside it.
"You!" She readied her weapons at him as Zwei ran to cover.
"Oh, you brats! I'll kill all of you!" He dashed at her with {Magatsu-Izanagi} holding his spear above itself.
Yang could only cross her arms in hopes of blocking the massive weapon and using her Semblance to counter.
But Adachi came from beneath her and kicked her stomach with enough force to break a wall. Yang felt the kick and was about to pummel him but the {Shadow Grimm} came from above and swung down its weapon on her.
She clicked her tongue and dodged the attack with a back step. Just as she was about to counter, Adachi placed 6 well shots on her legs and hands.
Yang's Aura was now depleted from those bullets covering her important parts as Adachi came and punched her away from him.
"I'm gonna enjoy killing you. Then the whole world can join you as the Grimm will ravage everyone here."
"No."
The wall nearby Adachi exploded as {Robin Hood} aimed its arrow at him.
"Because I am here. {Megaton Raid!}"
*Fwoomp*
*BOOOM!*
The arrow hit dead center where Adachi was and exploded him out of the corridor. Yang watched as the {Persona} went away and Y/N came into view.
"Y/N!"
He turned his head at Yang who glomped him tightly to her chest. Y/N felt two very soft pillows on his face and fell to the ground in pain.
"Are you alright?" That was the first question Yang asked as she got off him and sat on his lap.
"Yeah... I'm fine. What about you?"
"Same here. Just without Aura."
"Oh, let me fix that. {Diarahan}."
Yang then saw her Aura coming back to her and going back to full in a matter of seconds. Y/N pushed Yang off himself and dusted away the debris.
"Woah. Neat!"
"Yeah. But we got more pressing matters in our hand."
"Yeah. Don't know how but things just keep coming." She snapped her head to him as Yang saw him at the airbus. "Wait! What about Ruby? Is she alright?!"
"Yeah. She's with Aigis. I only came back because of the recent attack."
A shockwave rocked them off their feet as Y/N's face was now warped in horror. 'No.'
"What? What is it?" Yang asked, concerned with how pale his face is.
He ran outside and Yang followed suite to see a large figure coming at them from the distance.
A dragon. An Elder Grimm Dragon was flying towards them at dangerous speeds, dropping off its essence to create more Grimm.
{GOD'S EYE}
NAME: Wyvern the Dormant
LEVEL: 150
AGE: 507
INFO: A dormant Grimm that only feeds off the deepest of fear and death.
'A Grimm 50 levels above me...' Y/N stared at the Grimm making its way here and gripped his sword tighter. 'I could deal with it now, but that would take time. By the time I'm finished, Cinder would have killed Ozpin and Amber at the vault and taken her powers as a whole.'
He looked at Yang, who was as scared as he was, and the situation around them.
JNPR, CFVY, SSSN, and many others were about to descent here to battle the Grimm and White Fang to defend Beacon. Ironwood was taking control of the skies with his remaining ships and Ozpin was left to defend Amber alone in the vault.
With all of these events coming here, it was time to end this.
"Yang."
The blonde turned her head at him as he lowered his head briefly before looking at her. "Good luck, and stay safe."
Yang didn't know what he meant by that at the moment and was confused when he said that he'll die. "What?.."
Y/N didn't answer as he opened a portal to the vault and jumped in.
"Wait! Y/N!"
The portal closed before she could enter and Y/N was no longer in front of her.
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Y/N exited the portal and stepped in the vault. There, he saw Ozpin at the vault and near Amber's pod with a cane ready.
"Ozpin!"
The Headmaster swiveled his head at him as he came running to his side.
"Y/N! What's happening?!"
"Grimm is coming in droves and the White Fang is helping them. Not to mention that {Wyvern} has awoken from its nap."
"{Wyvern}?" Ozpin spoke his name with terror as if he had faced its power before. "Oh my... Then Beacon and Vale are lost. With a Grimm of that magnitude, there's no telling if we can win this."
"Yes, we can."
"But how?"
"I don't know. But right now, we have to defeat Cinder and restore Amber's power."
"... Right. If she wants to have the full power of a Maiden, she has to come here and face us both."
"Actually, I will be the one to fight her."
"What?"
"We both know of the power she wields if Amber dies by her hand. We can't let it happen. So I'll be fighting Cinder while you keep Amber safe."
"... I understand."
Y/N nodded with Ozpin as another explosion rocked their surroundings.
Just then, the elevator shaft opened up to reveal Cinder, dressed for perfection.
Before she could react, Y/N cast magic on her to prevent her from reaching Amber. "{Frost Magic: Ice Palace}"
*Fwoosh*
The entire area froze in an instant as Cinder had barely blocked it with her own magic.
A heartbeat later, Y/N cast {Heat Riser} on himself and charged straight at her. Cinder saw the attack coming and rushed in to block the force he used.
They clashed at the center as Y/N uppercut Cinder in the face and to the ceiling. He aimed his sword at her and cast another magic. "{Ziodyne!}"
A massive bolt of lightning came crashing into her figure but she dodged it at the last second. Cinder manifested a bow with arrows and took aim.
She wasn't aiming for Y/N, but rather Amber's pod and let it loose.
Ozpin saw the arrow coming and deflected the projectile away from Amber.
Y/N landed on the ground and moved instantly to intercept Cinder upon landing. The False Maiden conjured up a fireball and thrown it at the intercept point and let it explode right there.
Y/N backed away as much as possible and retreated backward. Cinder flipped through the air and smirked at how much of a fight Y/N was giving.
"You are certainly an interesting opponent, Y/N L/N. Tell me, are you the son of Ozpin?"
"Why would you say that?"
"Your magic, of course. You can fool everyone, but you can't fool me or my mistress. You have the same pool of mana deep within you and Ozpin's and you fight for him."
"Yeah?"
"And why is that?"
"...Because I know." Cinder widened her eyes a bit as Y/N answered back. "I know everything about him; his encounter, relationships, lives, mistakes, and the true story behind the Maidens. I've seen everything, from his downfall to his rising up from the grave and this is my answer to you.
I don't care. I could care less about the amount of shit he's done for the past years and how he'll fix it. I don't care about all the lies and manipulation he said. I really don't care about how he treats us like pawns!"
"Are you saying you'll kill Ozpin?"
"...Yes. I will."
"Then our goals are merely aligned. If we join forces-"
"After..." Cinder flickered her eyes at him as he aimed his sword at her. "After I kill Salem."
"...Hehe. Haha... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!" Cinder laughed with joy and elevation as she couldn't contain her laughter of pity.
It lasted for a full minute before she stopped but kept a grin plastered on her face.
"You're more of a fool than he is! My mistress can never be killed! She is immortal and powerful! What can you, the son of Ozma the Great, do against her?!"
"... This."
'{Mana Zone: ACTIVATE!}'
Just like that, the Mana Cinder has talked about was now spilling out of his body and was covering the entire room around them. It was chockful of raw power and magic that she couldn't breathe that well. It was so thick that she felt her magic already subdued from the massive amount being released around them. "Wh-What is this?!"
[You have used skill: {Mana Zone: Basic]
[5,000 {MP} has been used to make the skill possible.]
[Remaining {MP}: 15,000]
[Magic from the user has been increased twice over.]
[Any magic related attacks or defense are now multiplied in the area.]
'I still have enough {MP} to finish her off. This time, I won't be holding back.'
"This is my stand against you and Salem! This is the power I've worked so hard to achieve in order to kill Salem! And now, Cinder Fall, you will bear witness to my growth!"
'{Lightning Magic: Thunder God's Armor}'
The moment he thought of it, lighting crackled around him and enveloped his body in mana. Thanks to his own {Mana Zone} the magic used to create it was magnified further.
Cinder brought up her hands to block any stray lightning coming her way but it was fruitless. No matter what magic she wanted, it was overpowered by this area Y/N had created. If only she had enough mana to do something similar then maybe she can have a fighting chance.
She clicked her tongue in annoyance as Cinder tried to move past the area around themselves, only to feel the immense wall of mana blocking her path.
"Where do you think you're going?"
Y/N let the lightning die down as now as he is wearing the literal armor of lightning. It crackled endlessly around his body and around himself and walked to where Cinder was. "We're just getting started."
Cinder clicked her tongue in annoyance as she let the mana within her envelop her body the same way Y/N did himself. "I'll have your head!"
"Come and take it!"
He dug his foot to the ground as the electricity crackled harder upon his command.
*BOOM!*
Like a bullet from a railgun, he sped through the ground and reached speeds, not even Cinder can acknowledge but was prepared for.
*BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!**BOOM!*
Ozpin watched with widened eyes as he watched the fight take place within his sight. Magic duels was a familiar sight for the wizard since he often fought with others before and won the same.
Yet, across this continent and beyond, throughout his battles with Salem and such, he had never seen the method of handling Mana as Y/N did.
"Incredible..." He wordlessly said as the mere punches Y/N did against Cinder was like a missile going off near him. And if that missile had the finest Fire Dust in Remnant packed into one.
'So am I just... a hindrance to their true potential?'
The wizard disregarded the thought since it would bring unwanted attention right now as the battle was coming to an end right now.
The {Mana Zone} that surrounded them was diminishing into thin air and Ozpin saw the destruction Y/N was capable of.
Ruined pillars, broken pathways, and cracked ceilings. Just utter destruction remained from the fight between Y/N and Cinder.
Speaking of the two, Ozpin saw him placing a foot on her chest and saw the bruised and beaten form of Salem's operative.
Y/N heaved heavily under his breath as his magic was now depleted. He can feel the effects already affecting his stamina but he had done it. Cinder is defeated before his heel and was about to finish her off.
He lifted Joker up high and above her face as he hardened his face for what will come next.
"Any last words?" Just for now, he curtly asked her what it was. No point now anyway.
"... Just one."
"And that is?"
"DeAtH."
Faster than anyone saw, Cinder had formed a small glass shard imbued with the last of her power and thrown it not at Amber.
But at Ozpin.
The remaining mana formed the shard into a powerful phoenix and flew towards him. The Headmaster couldn't register what had happened, but he felt great pain on his heart and dropped his cane.
"OZPIN!" Y/N cried out his name and glared back at her, grinning like a maniac. "FUCK!"
*STAB!*
With Joker plunged straight at her skull, Y/N ran to where Ozpin fell to as he got out a {Bead} from his sub-space and was about to give it to him.
Just as he gave it to him, Ozpin weakly stopped him from doing so. "Don't..."
"Ozpin! Just shut up and-"
"No..." He groaned but made an effort to console him. "I've lived long enough and this weary soul is ready for the afterlife."
"Yes. You are. After we defeat Salem, then you can rest alongside her. So please, stay with me!."
"I'm afraid... I cannot... this old body has done its job... and the new vessel will be next."
"But I don't want to kill an innocent child!"
"You have to... otherwise... this will only make matters worse." He gripped Y/N's shoulder and spoke with empathy. "I know of the weight you carry and how it all depends on you. But for once... can you call me... your father?"
"Oz..."
"Please... my daughters have all but passed away into these reincarnations. My love has abandoned me for power. I have no one... to share this experience with. So please... grant this old wizard's wish."
Just then, a window opened up before Y/N.
*UPDATE*
[Quest: Witch Hunt, has been changed to Goodbye]
With Ozpin's current form about to die, the new vessel will take on his soul and power. Before he will die, he asks you to call him father.
[Objetive:]
Say goodbye to Ozpin's current form.
[Time: 00:00:20]
[Reward: 5000000 $, Relic of Choice: Kither]
[Failure: Complete loss of trust from Ozpin, Immediate invasion of Grimm towards Remnant, Fighting Salem.]
He widened his eyes from the failure and the reward for this quest as Ozpin had seconds before he would die.
With only 20 seconds on the clock, Y/N laid Ozpin on the ground and kneeled next to him.
Over the course of months and weeks spent under his school, training, and studying to become a Huntsman, Y/N had often thanked Ozpin multiple times for events that would have taken a toll on him.
This lone man, lonely as he was, brought so many people together under his banner so that they may continue to live life as they see fit.
When they were shackled down by society and heritage, Ozpin cared less for that and treated them as his own students.
Like with Blake and her connection with the White Fang.
Or Weiss and her heritage to the SDC.
Or allowing Jaune to come to his school, regardless of training.
And Pyrrha for her achievements and fame.
Under his own tutelage, many famous Huntsman and Huntresses have been called heroes of legends throughout the stories of old.
The man himself was considered responsible for creating heroes, out of the remnant of his life.
He carried the burden of the world on his back, so that his students may live a carefree life while training to become the heroes they aspire to be.
But now... he was just a simple man. A hermit. A sage. And all he wanted in life...
Was to experience it.
"... See ya, dad. Let's meet up next time, alright?"
Ozpin's eyes couldn't be larger as Y/N said those words he ever wanted to hear. Tears started forming around his eyes as he lifted his hand and patted the boy's hair.
"Alright, son. Now let your father sleep for a while."
"Sure thing."
He didn't know, but Y/N felt his heart becoming warmer with each second ticking by. Ozpin continued to pat the boy's head with kindness and warmth, the same kind that he used to do to put his daughters to sleep.
[00:00:03]
[00:00:02]
[00:00:01]
[00:00:00]
The hand fell from his head as Y/N dropped his head in regret. The man who saved him from the Grimm, who protected him from the Council, who let him become a one-man team, who allowed Blake, Weiss, Pyrrha, and Jaune to be accepted to his school, who let Aigis become a part of his team, who helped Team RWBY capture Roman Torchwick, who asked a favor for his fight...
And the one, he called dad, had died with a smile. He put his cane near him as he didn't have any use for it right now. That will come later.
Y/N knew that only the body died and the soul lived on, but he couldn't help the tear from his face drip to the floor.
As they say...
"Shed a tear, for those important to you." A cheesy line from a book he read many times before but couldn't find the right opportunity to say it.
But now, it was a nice reminder.

Y/N didn't stay for long as an explosion rocked the vault heavily. He looked back at Joker being stabbed right through Cinder and Amber's pod. The Maiden's power should be complete now yet she was still resting in there. 'I'll come back later.'
With a wave of his hand, the {5-Leafed Clover} appeared on his hand and opened its pages. The handle for {Demon-Slayer} revealed itself to him as he grasped the handle with ease.
The massive sword was laid bare for him as he dismissed the grimoire.
Are you sure this will work?
The Demon's voice echoed in his mind once more and Y/N nodded. 'It worked before. So do it.'
Heh... this got a lot more interesting.
Y/N let go of the massive sword as if expecting it to do something.
And just like that, it floated. He didn't know how or why, but the damn sword was actually flying right now.
He stepped on the blade and responded with its owner's mind. It was a bit tricky but Y/N got a feel for it.
"Nice. Now let's go kill that dragon!"
