Volume 3 {Chapter 5: Calm Before The Storm}
It was late in the afternoon as Y/N stared at the autumn sky turning dark. So many things were floating around his head and couldn't decide where to go from here. The first day of the festival has ended, tomorrow will be the doubles tournament and the day after is the duels.
Ozpin told him that his match will begin on the third day of the festival as a sort of exhibition match between his opponent, as a way to prepare the crowd on what will happen in the duels.
Maybe that's his way of promoting his position as Headmaster or the Councils bidding. Either way, he's more than prepared for the fight ahead.
"What to do next..." Y/N murmured softly as to not raise suspicion and sighed softly.
The moment he said Cinder's name, they immediately asked him for details. After confirming it with Ozpin and Ironwood, they would come up with a plan to stop her without garnering the attention of the public and Salem. They would also have to deal with her subordinates but that will come as they go after Cinder.
He really wanted to heal Amber when he was there but the warnings all gave him a grave mistake should he proceed. The deed is done after Cinder took her power, maybe if he was faster in leveling up then he can save her before Cinder can take her powers in the first place.
But what's done is done. Right now, he needed to figure out what to do for Cinder. His suggestion of doing nothing is still valid as they don't know when she'll strike so for now, they are being prepared.
Ironwood said he'll take care of the backdoor virus back at his flagship.
Glynda will keep a close eye on Cinder and her teammates.
Qrow is spending time with Ruby and Yang while also keeping an ear out for any suspicious activities.
And Ozpin is left with nothing but guard Amber in the vault.
Y/N also came up with a contingency plan in case Cinder manages to deal a fatal blow on his end.
He gave each of them a {Bead} and Ozpin, a {Soma}, should the worst come. If ever he perishes but still killed her, then they will give her the item to live on. It wasn't a surprise that Ozpin wanted for Y/N to live and proposes to take her instead of him, but it was just in case.
He promises to not die when dealing with Cinder.
With the back-up plan set, now on what to do now.
Should he continue training? He's already {Level 100} so no need for that.
Watch the fights? It got a bit boring when he watches them so, maybe.
"What to do, what to do, what to do?"
"Oh, Mr. L/N?"
He drifted his eyes to whom said his name and saw a familiar streak of white hair tied up in a bun.
"Ms. Schnee?"
"What are you doing out in the open?"
"Well... doing nothing I suppose."
"I see..." She dies off in the end as Y/N felt that she wanted to say something.
"Something on your mind?"
"If it is not too much to bother, may I ask a favor?"
Y/N must not be getting enough sleep since he was confused about why she said something like that.
"You... want something from me?"
"Yes. If you will follow me."
Winter turned 180 and started walking briskly. Y/N couldn't get another word in and decided to follow her anyway. "W-Wait! Hold on a moment."
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
They entered Beacon's student lounge and yet, Winter didn't say anything relating to the favor she just randomly asked. Y/N thought it might be something important and followed her here.
As walked deeper, he saw Weiss sitting down on one of the porcelain chairs with her weapon held. She must have heard her sister coming as she saw her and him all walking towards her.
"Y/N?"
"Weiss? What are you doing here?"
"I was going to ask you the same question." She faced her sister with a turned head and wanted to know more. "Winter, I thought you wanted us to be alone."
"Forgive me Weiss, but I had no choice on the matter." Winter apologized quickly and cleared her throat. "Regarding your glyphs, I can see that you still have not mastered the summoning phase."
"And I don't need it. I can already use Time Dilation."
"Which is why you need a mentor of things, hence I have called Mr. L/N." Y/N bulged his eyes in shock as Winter gave him a sudden job.
"What?" It was a bit loud but it just suddenly came up for him and wasn't ready for it at all.
Winter turned to him with a serious gaze and posture. "I have reviewed your abilities multiple times and confirmed it myself. Your Semblance is uniquely similar to ours in terms of ability, power, and versatility."
"Uh... thanks?"
"So, I am sure you have your own summons as well."
"What, like pets?
Smack in the head for the incorrect answer. Even with his powers and senses, he still felt the pain coming from her hand.
"Nonsense! Like allies. Observe."
Winter walked to an open space on the veranda and concentrated. A large glyph appeared before her as it spun multiple times. A large figure was coming out of it and stood on two hind legs. It was an Alpha Beowulf but it doesn't have the same characteristics as one. It was white, like snow, and didn't even budge from its spot.
Y/N used {God's Eye} on it and it said that it was Winter's familiar.
"And this is yours?"
"Indeed." Winter dismissed the Beowulf and stepped in front of him. "Now. Show me."
"What?"
"Show me your allies so Weiss can grow more as a person."
When Winter said that, Weiss felt her confidence rise up. Seeing that her sister is not doing it for her power but rather as herself. She smiled at how much expectations she has for Winter and how much she will earn it.
So for now, she will accept Y/N as an instructor.
With that, he was now the center of attention. To be honest, he never really practiced {Summoning Magic} that much since he can take care of himself anyway. Was there even magic like that in {Black Clover}? He wasn't sure but there has to be, right?
He can guess that whatever works, for now.
With a snap of his fingers, he called one of them out. "Ruin!"
The neigh of a horse echoed around them as they saw a small pit of fire burning at the entrance off the veranda.
Without a moment to lose, a large horse emerged from beneath and ran towards them. Seeing that it had black skin and red eyes, the sisters thought it was a Grimm but stopped all of a sudden.
They looked at Y/N who only commanded the horse to stop and walked towards it. It breathed fire out of its nostrils and whinnied at his presence. "Hey, boy. Sorry about the situation right now. I promise to let you out more often, alright?"
It snorted at his face and tickled him. Soot covered his face but he wiped it off. The large horse once again ran away and sunk into the ground.
Y/N turned to see the expressions of Winter and Weiss as they all looked shocked. "Will that do?"
Winter shook her head from the shock and resumed as if nothing had ever happened. "Yes. I suppose that will do."
"What was that?" Weiss asked Y/N, not getting rid of the horse from her head. "I've never seen a summoned beast like that before."
"His name is Ruin." Y/N gave her the answer that was vague yet correct. "We... sorta met on bad terms but we're cool now."
Winter nodded and gestured Weiss to come forward. Now it was her turn to summon an ally.
A large glyph was former in front of her as it spiraled the same way Winter's. Weiss concentrated hard and long, sweat was forming under her brow.
"Excellent form!" Winter praised and continued. "Now think to your fallen foes! The ones who forced you to push past where you were, and become who you are now. Think of them, and watch as they come to your side"
For all the praises in the world, Weiss couldn't maintain the position for much longer and dismissed the glyph in anger. "I can't!"
Winter slapped her sister's head hard and corrected her. "Stop doubting yourself!"
"I'm trying!"
"If this is what you call trying, then you have no hope of winning the tournament, let alone succeeding as a Huntress!" A small smile crept up her face as she made a small push. "Why don't you just move back home? I'm sure Father would give you a nice job as a receptionist!"
Weiss was shocked at her sister's joke and looked away. "I don't need his charity!"
"But you clearly need his money, don't you?"
The heiress was surprised at Winter calling her out like that as it hit the nail. "What?! How did you know about that?"
"Lucky guess. I may have been in a similar situation when I joined the military. So what have you done this time?"
As Weiss explained, Winter circled around her as if to draw out her emotions. "Well, that's the thing; I'm really not sure. I went to pay for lunch the other day, but the card didn't work."
"How embarrassing..."
"I know." Weiss looked at Winter as she shook her head at the matter. "Well, it was! Why would he cut me off like that?"
"Perhaps so that you'd stop avoiding him and call home."
The feeling of going back in that accursed manor and seeing his face every time was more than enough to ignite her rage once more. She made the glyph once more with gritted teeth.
Winter placed a comforting hand on Weiss' shoulder and soothed the pain. "Emotions can grant you strength. But you must never let them overpower you."
Weiss sighed dejectedly as the glyph went away again. Y/N could tell something was troubling her but didn't interfere, since this matter was for the two to discuss.
Winter continued her talk to Weiss with a serious voice. "It sounds to me like you have two choices in front of you. You can either call him, beg for his money back, and explain once more why you would want to study at Beacon over Atlas."
Seeing her sisters wince in agony, Winter was sure of her ideals and goals as she put on a more comforting act. "or you could continue to explore Remnant, discovering more about the world and honestly, more about yourself. "
With the final words finally spoken, it was time to leave. "I must go. Be well, sister."
She hugged Weiss tightly and was returned shortly after. They separated themselves from each other as Winter looked back at Y/N.
"Mr. L/N."
"Ms. Schnee."
Winter gave her hand outward at him and locked eyes with a serious gaze. "Take good care of my sister."
Y/N gave a small snort and nodded, shaking her hand firmly. "I promise."
With the promise said in stone, it was time for Winter Schnee to head back to Atlas.

Weiss and Y/N waved at the ship Winter was in as it flew hastily toward the night sky. As soon as she left, Weiss' Scroll rang open and opened the device. Her father was calling once more.
Weiss was about to answer her call but hesitated. Recalling her sister's word about the choices she will make, Weiss pondered on what she wants to do during her time in Beacon.
With a nod, she closed the device that ended the call.
"Looks like I'll be taking care of finances for a while." Y/N said to Weiss with a smirk as he can already imagine the expenses piling up.
Weiss huffed her chest and looked away. He chuckled a bit as they walked to the dorms in silence.
The heiress stopped on the ground as Y/N looked back at what's wrong. "Weiss?"
"... Can you..." She whispered a bit as Weiss didn't meet his gaze for a bit. "Can you summon, that horse again?"
"Who, Ruin?"
"Yes. I would... like to ride him." Weiss was now blushing from guilt and quickly dismissed the idea. "N-Nevermind! Let's just go already!"
Seeing the walking and blushing heiress, Y/N sighed and whistled loudly.
The sound of hooves clopping on a stone pavement stopped Weiss from her tracks as she looked behind her. Y/N was now riding Ruin as the horse bellowed a bit.
Seeing the black horse snorting fire would make some people run away. But not Weiss, because she loved ponies and horses ever since she was little.
So when an actual horse materialized in front of her, it took all of her will power to not hug the mighty beast.
Ruin walked closer to the girl and snorted near her. She felt the heat rise up near her cheeks yet she didn't pay it any mind. Y/N held out his hand at her and smiled warmly.
"Shall we?"
Cracking a smile of her own, Weiss grabbed his hand as he pulled her up to the saddle.
She positioned herself and felt the rough surface of the skin, the warm hair on his neck, and the big body around it. Y/N was behind her as heled the reigns of Ruin in one hand.
"Hold on tight. Let's go, Ruin. HYAA!"
With the snap of the reigns, Ruin bellowed out and galloped around Beacon. Weiss felt a familiar sensation around her as they ran through the empty streets of Beacon with amazing speed.
Y/N kept his arms around her for safety and leaned at his chest a bit. With the sudden speed Ruin was making, she can just say that it pushed her at him.
They continued to gallop through the night as Weiss felt more sure and confident more than ever.

It was the second day of the Vytal Festival as the crowd roared to life with each fight. After the team battle, yesterday now was the duels and the crowd couldn't get more excited.
Y/N sat next to Aigis and JNPR as the next match was about to commence.
[The randomization process is complete! Ladies and gentlemen, your double tournament!] Port loudly announced as he was also ecstatic.
RWBY and JNPR applauded out loud as SSSN also join in the crowd's enthusiasm.
The students about to fight were shown on a large screen so that everyone can see.
Emerald Sustrai and Mercury Black (Beacon)
VS
Coco Adel and Yatsuhashi Daichi (Beacon)
With the participants shown, it was time to fight.
(OK. The duels at this point only show how much the plot thickens. Emerald tricks Coco and Yatsuhashi with dirty tricks, Weiss doing an action that neither wasn't prepared and a bunch of other stuff.
I'm not going through the trouble of putting their fights in here since it would get boring so... skipping it all.)

As the day ended with another win under RWBY's belt, Y/N's Scroll rang a bit and opened up to see Ozpin's name there. "Gotta go. Ozpin wants to talk to me."
"What a coincidence." Pyrrha stood up from her seat with a smile. "So do I."
With a nod at each other, the two exited the seats and walked straight to where the airbus' lands.
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Entering the Headmaster's office, Pyrhha saw Ozpin with another man there as he stepped to the side and leaned on one of the pillars inside. Y/N stood next to him and merely waited.
Pyrrha didn't like the atmosphere that was in the room and couldn't help but feel as though something important is happening. She took a seat in front of Ozpin's table and gazed at the man himself.
With all that has been happening right now, it was no surprise that the mood was tense and the people were tenser. Y/N walked closer to Qrow and kept his voice minimal.
"Are you sure? I thought we already discussed this."
The Huntsman sighed and whispered back. "Oz didn't want to take any chances so, he proposed a counter-argument. In case Amber starts to... you know."
"...Whatever the reason it is, I hope it doesn't go all up in your face."
Qrow nodded as Pyrrha and Ozpin chatted.
"Well, it comes as no surprise that they've chosen you to move on to the final round of the tournament. Your performance was exemplary."
"Thank you, Professor Ozpin, but I would never have made it this far without my teammates."
Before Qrow could retort, Y/N lightly hit his guy as he slouched a bit.
"... Professor, if you don't mind me asking. Why have you called me and Y/N here?" Pyrrha finally decided to break the ice and went straight into the matter itself.
Ozpin looked at Y/N with pleading eyes as this was his plan from the start. He fought back a sigh and nodded along, deciding to get it over with.
"Tell me, what is your favorite fairy tale?"
"I'm... sorry?" Pyrrha was confused by the question since it was a bit biased.
"Fairy tales, stories from your childhood. Surely you must remember some of them."
Deciding to answer the question, Pyrrha looked back at the stories her mother used to tell her. "Well, there's Tale of the Two Brothers, The Shallow Sea, The Girl in the Tower..."
"What about the Story of the Seasons?"
As a switch to a light bulb, Pyrrha was reminded of her childhood. "Well, of course."
And so, the tale was said by her mouth.
An old hermit was visited by 4 sisters as they help him.
The white one made him reflect on his life.
The green one gave him fruits and vegetables.
The orange one made him come outside and enjoy the day.
The purple one gesturing to the life around them.
Moved by their kindness, the man gifted the 4 Maidens with power so that they may continue spreading their happiness to the rest of the world.
"Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall," Pyrrha told him the names of the maidens respectively as she ends the tale. "My mother loved that story."
Now was the moment of truth. "Would you believe me if I told you that one's been around since I was a boy?"
The joke was a bit dead but Pyrrha laughed at it. "You're not that old, Professor."
But there was no joke. Only a sense of realism and duty. "Well, would you believe me if I told you it was true?"
Pyrrha gave off a silent chuckle but felt dread at his words. "I... beg your pardon?"
Ozpin leaned forward a bit as the topic now became serious. "What if I were to tell you that there were four maidens existing in this world, that could wield such tremendous power, without Dust ?"
"You mean... like a Semblance?"
"No, Pyrrha." She turned her attention behind her as Y/N stand before her. "Like magic."
Y/N held out his hand as a small flame appeared. He tossed the flame upwards and suddenly, it turned into ice when it fell.
While most would just draw it back to using Dust, Y/N didn't bring with him the key to that trick.
Creed.
He did all that, with his right hand. Creed was on his left and used hand for using Dust based attacks.
Meaning, Y/N demonstrated magic right in front of her.
Pyrrha was still trying to make heads and tails with all this sudden information and looked at the man who had all the answers. "Why... why are you telling me this?"
Ozpin glances at Qrow as he nodded in approval. Y/N gave his own as now, the real intention is said.
"We are telling you this, Pyrrha Nikos, because we believe that you are next in line to receive the Fall Maiden's powers."
Her eyes widen in shock as now, there were more who knew this. "We?"
The elevator rang open as Glynda and Ironwood all stepped out with grim expressions.
Pyrrha didn't need a code of confirmation since this is the 'We' Ozpin told about. Meaning, these people knew the real story.
Ironwood fixed his tie a bit and apologized. "Sorry, we're late."
"You're just in time." Y/N commented as he evaporated the ball of ice.
"Wait, what is all this?" She was overwhelmed about this information and narrowed her eyes at Y/N. "Who are you?"
Glynda approached the student with calm hands. "You know who we are. We're still the same teachers, Headmasters, and students you met when you arrived in Beacon."
"'Cept we got a part-time job." Qrow finalized Glynda's speech as he stood up from the pillar.
"We are protectors of this world." Ironwood summarized their positions with pride.
"And we need your help." Y/N said to Pyrrha as he stepped forward. "Look, you may not believe me and all of this seemed too elaborate for a prank. So, trust us. Please."
With the sudden information all going around her head, she just felt like the whole world was on her shoulders once more.
One question was repeatedly asked the same time over and over in her head as it all grew worrisome for the girl.
'Just what is going on here?'
