Volume 3 {Chapter 4: Closure}

Ozpin stared in shock as Y/N aimed his sword at his face. The feeling of death was a long term symptom that he learned to just roll with it. Even if he were to be killed by conventional means, the god's power in his soul made sure that he would survive. He's been through it all; torture, rituals, money even killing himself with his own power.

Yet despite all that, he survived and kept ongoing.

But now, he was genuinely worried.

The young man he brought in months ago, cared for him, and protected him from the outside world, is now about to kill him.

He couldn't do anything about it. The reasoning was out since he saw his eyes and knew, he won't take anything from him. His companions were all trapped in time and he can't even lift his finger from his frozen body. This child, no. This man had managed to do what Salem cannot.

Catch him off guard.

"... Are you going to do it?" Ozpin asked Y/N, seeing there's no point in trying.

If he can trap him and his companions, then he can certainly handle his own against her. What's the point in trying if he can manage all of this in the span of a few seconds. Even with his Semblance, he was no match against his.

Y/N lowered his head a bit as he stared down into the Headmaster's eyes, burning with ambition and determination. He no doubts appreciate everything the man has done for him, because if it weren't for him then allot in Vol.1 and Vol.2 wouldn't have happened if it weren't for his leniency.

Still, he didn't give up his mission given by the gods. It wasn't as if he turned into a holy man, that was something only reserved for the maniacs in the world, but rather he shared their aggression and annoyance. How long has it been since Ozpin was forced to kill his former lover? How many times since he tried to beg the gods to end it?

How many times, he was so close to ending it all, only to hesitate and not move at all?

These thoughts only fuel his anger towards Ozpin and his cowardice. If only he stopped Salem, things could've turned a whole lot better in Remnant.

But he didn't.

Why?

Because he still loves her.

But... still...

Y/N sighed heavily and lowered his sword. He can't. He just couldn't. Not after what he has done now. Hell, if he were any other student then Ozpin could give him the same amount of treatment as any other.

That's why he allowed Ruby to come to his school.

That's why he forgave Blake for being a former terrorist.

That's why... he'll be the last to die.

"No... No, I am not." Y/N dismissed the frozen shell Ozpin was trapped in as he took a nearby couch and sat there.

Ozpin, now free from his imprisonment, was about to free his companions. But when he looked at the dejected figure of Y/N, his heart dropped cold as it reminded him of before. The same negative aura rolled off of him which will lead him to make mistakes that have no mercy to him and others.

So, he forgoes the rescue and sat across the man instead. He may not have his coffee, but he wanted to give him something. "... Mr. L/N."

"..." Y/N didn't say anything but gave an ear to him.

"If I may?"

"...Yeah?"

"Who... are you? I'm not talking about right now, but before. Before all of this."

A small chuckle gave off his mouth as he looked at Ozpin. "Haven't you heard? I have amnesia."

"This is no time for jokes, Mr. L/N. You already revealed your intentions to me and others so I know that was a lie." He gave a warm smile at him and leaned closer to him. "I want you to tell me... everything."

Y/N looked at Ozpin with suspicious eyes. It may be a rouse to stall for time as he will escape or demand him to release the people trapped in {Chronostasis}. Or even toy his emotions and use it to become his puppet.

But the eyes he gave off were... kind. And warm. There was no hint of trickery in them, only welcoming.

"... OK. Alright. I guess you deserve that at least."

"Thank you."

So, he told him everything. His life before, the meeting between the gods, receiving power by them, getting the mission and traveling to Remnant. He didn't go too much into details, like how did he know Adachi or Loki or even the name Aigis but it was to be safe.

How would you feel if Hitler was actually a virus program?

Ozpin stayed silent the entire explanation as he took it all on. Y/N didn't know if he was listening or not but he continued, telling all about himself and his life up until now.

By the time he was finished, the room stayed silent. Ozpin's colleagues are still trapped in his magic, they are still in his dungeon with no Grimm sighting outside the tower and now, the Headmaster of Beacon remained silent.

"So, there you have it. I've told you about my life before coming here and now... here we are."

"...Indeed." Ozpin finally spoke and sighed. "To be honest, I would not believe it if I didn't see it with my own eyes."

"Yeah, that tends to happen if someone suddenly said that they were from another world. You'd think they were delusional."

"Hehe. Yes, I suppose so." He gave a weak chuckle at Y/N.

"... So what will you do now? You've already heard my mission against you and Salem. Are you gonna try and stop me?" Y/N asked the wizard with a glare and crossed his fingers.

Truth be told, he really preferred that Ozpin stays alive during the entire thing. He still needs his help for further on the line and, who knows? Maybe he can kill two birds with one stone? But really, he wanted Ozpin to be the last one died.

Ozpin merely shook his head at him. "I don't think I have it in me to stop you. You've shown your intentions clearly, you have the desire to see it through and you won't let anybody stop you. I'm afraid I can only delay the inevitable."

"... Is that so?" Ozpin nodded at him. "...Then you are OK with me killing her?"

Now that was what Ozpin was afraid of. It was him that started this entire thing and he wanted to end it with his own terms. But he won't. He can't. Because it might end like several times over.

"At first, I was against the idea of someone else killing Salem. I wanted to be the one to stop her with my own powers. But... given how long it had been since then..." The wizard shook his head and reigned in his negativity. "Regardless, I can see that no matter what I say you will just continue on. Therefore, I only ask one thing."

"And what's that?"

"... That you bring me along. Please, I want to see... I want to see what kind of woman she is now." Ozpin's relation was a shock for Y/N as he didn't expect to hear that from the man himself. "If there's even a shred of humanity within there... then, please. Let this old wizard do something about it."

"... And if there isn't?"

"Then... do what you must." There was not a moment of pity in his voice, only pain.

"Are you sure?"

"Positive."

Y/N gave a small smile to the man and nodded. "Alright. I will."

"Thank you."

*UPDATE*

[Quest: Witch Hunt, has been created!]
Go an a quest to find and kill Salem with Ozpin as your companion.

[Objective:]
Kill Salem

[Time: N/A]

[Reward: 10,000,000,000 EXP%, Ozpin's Cane]

[Optional Objective]
Keep Ozpin alive through the entire adventure.
[Notice: So long as Ozma's soul is alive, this objective won't be considered a failure.]

[Failure: Immediate Death]

Y/N dismissed the pop-up in front of Ozpin and sighed. "Was that the {Gamer} powers you were talking about?"

"Yeah. I just got a new {Quest} relating what we just said."

"Oh?"

"It says that you can come with me as we destroy Salem. And... uh... it also said that I can have your cane?"

"... I'll have you know, that I like my cane."

"Well, it is only after we finish of Salem."

"Ah. So..." Ozpin looked behind him at his frozen comrades and went back to Y/N. "Would you kindly unfreeze my friends?"

"Huh? Oh, yeah. Sure." With a wave of his hands, {Chronostasis} was dispelled from Qrow, Ironwood, and Glynda and resumed as nothing had happened.

The moment he did, Ironwood fired off a shot at the location that Y/N used to be. "You bastard!"

When he saw that Y/N wasn't there, his head scanned the entirety of the room and landed at the couches where he was with Ozpin. Seeing his dear friend in danger he aimed once more. "Unhand him! NOW!"

He got a confused look on his face when Y/N was lifted up in the air. Y/N felt his limbs being squashed against him as he looked at Glynda with her crop aimed at him.

"Qrow!"

He didn't even hear her command since she knows what he is about to do. Grabbing his weapon from behind in a smooth transition, he shifted it into a scythe instantly and dashed to where Y/N was being held.

Qrow jumped above the teen with his blade in hand and was about to deliver a swift end to his enemy.

"{Robin Hood}" Y/N called out his name and smirked.

Blue flames emerged from within his body as Qrow was nearly blinded from it. But even so, his scythe sang through the air and was about to hit Y/N's head.

*Clang!*

Until something stopped Harbinger.

No, it wasn't something but rather someone. It wore a bespoke red suit with coattails. It also had a black shroud around where the face was at and it looked like it was connected with the suit itself. But what really stood out was the pair of wings it had on its back, black as night with veins appearing.

The figure held the shaft of his weapon with chains surrounding it. Qrow could only look with shock as the figure looked at him. He didn't see it but Qrow could tell, the thing... was smiling.

It then grabbed him and threw at Glynda who stopped using her Semblance once she was hit.

Y/N landed without worry as his {Persona} merely hovered near him. The azure flames reached to his face and a mask was produced. It was the same as Akira's only inverted.

Ironwood only stared at the teen with widened eyes as {Robin Hood} disappeared from sight and entered his soul. The figure, the summoning, and even the usage of power.

There was no doubt about it. "You... You also hold the power of the Shadow Grimm?"

"... You could say something like that. But I'm not here to fight." Y/N unsummoned his mask in azure flames.

"Bullshit!" Qrow cussed out and aimed his scythe at him. "Say all you want but I know an agent when I see one. You with her, aren't you?!"

"No."

"Grr... The prove it! How do we know that you aren't a spy with a deathwish?!"

The demand was reasonable enough. After all, he is being cautious against an unknown individual that not only trapped them in time but also from reality. Qrow knew that he wasn't in Remnant anymore due to the shortage of lights outside of the tower. As well as the massive Grimm roaming around Beacon.

Even if he called Atlas as an inept military, that didn't mean they could do their job right. They could clearly warn them about the massive influx of Grimm heading this way yet, nothing. He couldn't even spot a single airship in the skies. This leads to a conclusion.

This kid is dangerous. Very dangerous. Is he a spy sent by her? A son Ozpin never told them about? Just how powerful he truly is?

"...If I was a spy." Y/N instantly trapped Glynda with another {Time Magic: Chronostasis}. "Then I would have killed you without you knowing it happened. In fact, you won't even remember that pain."

With a flick of his wrist, Glynda was turned into bones and dust. Ironwood would have puked his lunch out to the floor but his hardened experience as a General reigned it in. Another flick and Glynda was now a baby.

"No matter how hard you try, I have the superior hand here. I could easily turn you into dust and reform you as quickly. In fact, I could do it to you several times faster and you won't even tell the difference. You could have lived out your whole life without raising so much as a finger and all I had to do, was flick my wrist.

So, tell me, Qrow Branwen? Am I a friend? Or foe?"

Qrow gritted his teeth against each other as he couldn't do anything right now. His former teacher was literally a baby and Ironwood was standing there like a statue. He can't do anything to him right now as all possible entrees towards him were all destroyed the moment he used time as an advantage.

Wait... time?

"Ozpin!" He called out to the only person capable of inflicting some real damage as he just sat there.

He didn't get an immediate response as the man merely sat there, only his back was laid bare. "Ozpin, we don't have time for games! We need you to-"

"You... will do nothing, Qrow." The Headmaster stood up and turned towards him. "Because he is our greatest ally."

Qrow didn't believe it. The man he used to know, that didn't kneel before the council, that never backed down from a fight, that helped him up from his emotional state was now... helping him.

"Qrow, I know this looks bad. But please... hear him out." Ozpin asked his most loyal friend to stand down. "Please..."

"..." The Huntsman stayed silent as he weighed his options. He was outpowered by a teen who could wield magic, proficient enough to elude Ozpin and Ironwood. He was trapped in his world with Glynda stuck as an infant, Ironwood unable to do anything, and Ozpin siding with him. So, really the odds are stacked against him and his Semblance was rendered useless if all it did was irritate him.

"... Does Ruby know?"

If he were to die here, then he wouldn't want his niece crying over a dead uncle and a missing boyfriend.

Y/N shook his head. "No. I don't want them to be wrapped up in this matter."

"Then that's all I need." Qrow just sighed and scratched his head. "You know, surprising someone isn't your style, Oz."

"I'm sorry. Perhaps I'll just... call you." Ozpin turned towards Ironwood who didn't say a word. "What about you James? What do you have to say about it?"

"..." The general of Atlas remained silent and stood there. Y/N couldn't see the emotions running through his face but could the cold dread oozing off his figure.

"If..." His first word was said and, with a steel expression turned to Y/N. "If I cooperate, would you fix Glynda?"

"Ah. So that's why you were so silent about." Y/N nodded as he turned to the floating baby floating around. "All I ask is that you lend an ear."

"... If that what it takes. Then yes, I will hear you out."

On one hand, Y/N could clearly see his enemies taking note of this and using it as an advantage. But he wasn't an enemy. All he can see at the man was that he would sacrifice anything so long as his comrades are safe.

Not a tactical solution, but a heartfelt one.

With a wave, the baby turned back into the Glynda everyone knew and floated safely down. The look on her face indicated of suspiciousness and fear as she was about to raise her wand at Y/N before Ozpin shook his head.

Seeing all the relaxed faces of everyone, there seemed to be an understanding between them as Qrow lowered his weapon. Not really remembering what is really happening, Glynda massaged her temples and sighed. "Can someone please explain to me what is going on?"

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

"So, what your saying... is that Mr. L/N here is from another planet and he has powers that allows him to become a game avatar and that he has come to help us?" Glynda gave her own short summary as she wanted this to be over. "Am I getting that right?"

"Don't forget that he was also given magic from the gods themselves," Qrow added in another point as he took another heavy swig from his flask.

"I'm still surprised at how you managed to convince them to give you magic." Ozpin couldn't help but be jealous of this man's nearly infinite mana pools. "I thought you were already powerful because of the {Gamer} powers."

"No kidding. I mean, I would probably be fine without it but..." Y/N shrugged it off. "What's done is done."

"Indeed."

"... Mr. L/N," Ironwood called out to him and remained stoic. "Are you sure you won't turn your back against us?"

"You have my word, that I will not point my blade against any of you. You all have the same objective, right?"

"Yes."

"Then just use that. So long as the objective doesn't change, you can count me in as an ally." Then he hardened his gaze at him with killing intent in the air. "But if you provoke me, corner me or try to kill me, don't think I'll give you mercy."

Ironwood visibly flinched at how thick his bloodlust is but he regained his composure. "Of course."

Y/N nodded and landed his eyes at Qrow. The Huntsman, feeling his gaze stopped drinking all of a sudden.

"Uh... what?"

"...You're awfully calm about all this. Don't get anything to say?"

Qrow sighed once more as he stood up and walked in front of him. "Listen, kid, I could care less about what you do. But do not try and wrangle my nieces into this crusade of yours. They're not meant to handle all of this, only the Grimm and their lives. You get me?"

Cracking a smile, Y/N could see why Ruby and Yang would see him as their favorite uncle and look him up as a Huntsman figure. Cold and heartless to his enemies, while warm and caring to those he cared about.

"Yeah. I get you. I promise not to tell them."

"Then that's good enough for me." When he was about to drink the last of his beverage, he found out it was empty.

Y/N waved his hand at the flask and in an instant, the container was once again filled to the brim with alcohol.

"Huh. Thanks, kid."

With a nod, Y/N sighed heavily. Now that the hard part was done, thank god, he can put his magic to work. With the aid of Ironwood and Qrow, the chances of succeeding this have increased dramatically.

"Now... with that out of the way-"

"Hold on." Glynda stopped him and gestured around them. "I have to ask. Why pull us into your dimension if we can just lock down the whole tower?"

"Well, it would look awfully suspicious if all of a sudden, the tower goes into lockdown and then out of it in an instant."

"... I suppose it would." Ozpin agreed with what he said, not knowing if the enemy will catch on about that.

"That and... your system is corrupted." Ironwood was immediately suspicious and asked.

"What do you mean, corrupted?"

"... Do you remember, the night of the ball? There was an intruder at the CCT tower."

"Yes. I remember how useless my men are."

"Yeah... anyway. The intruder did more than just break-in, she also infected the place with a backdoor."

Ironwood was shocked. Hearing that his top-notch firewall was easily hacked by a mere thief hurt his pride as the most technological country in Remnant. "... Are you sure?"

"Yeah. So, you could say... 'The Queen made her move'."

The mood just got tense as the name 'Queen' sent chills in their spine. If what Y/N said was true, then they have fallen completely for their trap. This was their plan from the very start.

From the break-in to the breach, it was all planned to instigate fear into the citizens of Vale.

"So they were... counting on my ships being here?"

"Yes. But that's beside the point. I deliberately put us here so that we can speak with absolute privacy. Your Scrolls get immediately turned off when in this dimension and only a wired or a deeply ingrained signal can go through here."

Y/N checked many times before and confirmed each and every one. The reason why he was able to communicate with Aigis so clearly was that they share a soul together, allowing two-way communication between the two.

"And your sure that the enemy won't notice us being gone for a couple of hours here." Qrow was unsure if this place followed the rules of time as regular as the original one.

"Yeah. You could spend a week here and only 7 hours would pass. So really, we would only be gone for a couple of minutes."

"Oh."

"Yeah... so with that said, I believe its time I reveal to you their plan." Instantly, he garnered all their attention towards him.

"You mean?.."

"Yup. I know exactly what they are planning to do here. And it isn't something you can handle, James."

Ironwood gasped at how useless he became and knew why. It was his reckless idea to bring all of his main force here into Vale and with a backdoor in the system, the enemy could easily hack into one of his ships to lay waste to Vale.

"Their plan... is to destroy Beacon and the CCT tower." Y/N's words cut deep into their hearts, as now all they could do was simply believe in his words.

He has no reason to lie.

"Then... what do you suggest we do?" Ozpin asked the teen before him. If he truly knows what the outcome is, what can they do to prevent it?

"... We do nothing." That made everyone widen their eyes in shock as the man they were depending on, suggested to do nothing.

"WHAT?!" It wasn't a surprise that Ironwood was first to react.

"You're telling us, to simply let them play their hand?!" Glynda asked in rage as the mere thought of her students as cannon fodder simply won't do.

Y/N shook his head, not his intention at all. "That is not what I meant."

"Then... what is?" Qrow was next, unsure where this was going.

Y/N looked at Ozpin with comforting eyes as his next move wasn't going to be easy. No matter ho you look at it, this would require the ultimate trust to pull it off.

"Can you take me to Amber?"

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

The elevator dinged open as a group of men and a lady stepped out of it. The corridor was dimly lit by torches emitting a faint green glow. The path was long and dark, and if left unnoticed then someone might get lost in here in the endless hallways of dark and green.

Y/N noticed that the place was fortified using some kind of magic with technology as if a single misalignment could lock the whole place tight. Fortunately, the master of this labyrinth was here with all the keys to every door.

"And you're sure this will work?" Glynda asked Y/N with a grave tone, wanting to get his word.

"I'm not too sure either. I'm not that proficient in life and death situations. Honestly, if it weren't for Crow then Aigis wouldn't have survived?"

"Me?"

"Not you. You're spelled with a Q, mine is a C."

"Ah, you mean Loki." Qrow vaguely got the entire report on that and was relieved that his nieces were fine, along with others.

"Yeah..." Y/N let the word go, implying that the subject is not to be revived.

Silence ensued around them as they continue walking along the dark corridors. Ozpin leads the group with minor haste, feeling that Y/N could help his student.

"Mr. L/N. I assume you know of the Maidens, correct?" Glynda asked him, wanting to provide some context.

"Yeah. An individual granted the powers of the season and is passed down through thought or randomness, correct?"

"Yes..." Glynda was once again reminded of the knowledge he has and shouldn't take him lightly. "As you said, a Maiden can pass her powers through others by her last thought or by random chance. This time, we were lucky it was one of ours."

"Yeah. Amber Leaf was one of us." Qrow explained to him further. "Before, Amber was just a nerd with a passion for helping others. She would've been a great Huntress if it weren't for her grandmother."

"Qrow!"

"Hey, don't get mad at me for being right!"

"...So, what happened?"

"She was attacked. By them." Qrow answered with disgust in his voice, already hard enough for him.

"The enemy?"

"Yeah. For the first time in human history, her power was partly stolen. Hey, that reminds me..." Qrow looked back at Y/N with a glare. "If you knew all of this, then you also know who she was."

The group stopped walking and turned towards Y/N. Qrow was right if Y/N knew who the enemy then he could have saved them all the trouble of capturing her and her associates.

"... There was a reason why I didn't say her name. One of which was Ironwood's approach." The General raised an eyebrow on what he was to say next. "If I told you who it was, you would march down with your army to boot and eliminate her. If the civilians all saw you slaughter someone they didn't know, how would they react?"

"... He makes a good point, James." Ozpin put his shoulder on the man.

"That would sound something he would do." Glynda also agreed.

"Got you there, Jimmy." He didn't even register Qrow's voice.

Sighing, Ironwood took it all and nodded along. "While I hate being kept in the dark, even you had to do it for safety reasons. For that, I apologize."

"Don't worry." Y/N patted his arm with a smile. "You were doing what you thought was right. There's nothing wrong with walking down the path you make."

"Hmm, thank you, Y/N."

"Don't sweat it. I'm just glad you understand it, is all."

With a nod, the group continued on.

"But... really, who is it?" Qrow got impatient and just asked.

"... You promise not to kill her instantly?"

"I try not to."

"Are you sober?"

"Clearly not drunk enough..."

"... Fine. I'll tell you when we're finished here."

With another promise made, they continued onwards.

But it looks like it didn't take long at all. At the end of the corridor was a small machine that was giving life support at a pod. This pod was connected with the machine with many long wires running down on the floor.

And on the pod was a tanned teen with a crew cut and white cloth covering her private parts.

{GOD'S EYE}

NAME: Amber Leaf

LEVEL: 95

TITLES: The Fall Maiden

WEAPON: Twin Point Dust Staff {Maple}

SEMBLANCE: N/A

FIGHTING STYLE: N/A

STRENGTHS: Using the power of the Fall Maiden she is a force to be reckoned with, as well as adept skills using her spear and hand-to-hand combat.

WEAKNESS: Her kindness will bring her downfall, as well the being inexperienced with controlling her powers.

INFO: The current Fall Maiden, Amber Leaf is left on comatose after getting ambushed by Cinder. When she was captured, Cinder used Grimm Magic to get half of the Fall Maiden's power before Qrow intercepted her. Now with half of her soul is gone and with someone else, Amber is left in a dying state. Thanks to Atlas, they have slowed down her death by only months. Right now, she is in pain and is slowly dying.

"So that's why you were giving me the stink eye. You were using that {Gamer} skill of yours." Qrow deduced his eyes and made sense.

"Yup."

"You do know that skill of yours is basically giving away their personal information, right?"

"I could care less by that. I'm not a pervert like you are."

Y/N left the shocked Qrow and walked towards the pod Amber was at.

HP: 5069/20000

He clicked his tongue in anger and Ozpin saw it. "So it's not possible."

"Can't say. Aigis was at 500 when she was stabbed. She only has 5K which is great but its slowly going down."

"How long before she dies?"

"With how slow it's going, I'd give it a couple of days at best. So we gotta do it now."

Ozpin nodded and looked at Ironwood, who didn't hear a word more. He accessed the panel at the machine and tapped a few buttons on it.

'OK, let's hope you can make this work. {System}, how can I heal Amber Leaf?'

It was a long shot at best, maybe longer but he had to take it. The {System} had helped him throughout his whole life here in Remnant as a limiter for his powers. Any spell that was too hard for him to use, the {System} calculated what he had to do to cast it. So calling out to the power was gonna be a bit difficult, but he hopes that it would give him what he needed.

*DING*

The familiar pop-up appeared before him and hoped for the best.

[You can heal Amber Leaf with the following you have:]

[Plant Magic: Gaia's Blessing] > 20,000 MP > {Spell Master} > 10,000 MP

[Water Magic: Poseidon's Tears] > 40,000 MP > {Spell Master} > 20,000 MP

[Soul Energy: Complete Transfer] > 20,000 AP

[Soma x1]

[Balm of Life x1]

[WARNING!]

[After the use of spell/item, the patient will not wake up until her soul is complete with her.]

[WARNING!]

[After the use of spell/item, the patient's {HP} will drop dramatically each hour unless her soul is complete.]

[WARNING!]

[If failed, the patient will die from overuse of magic.]

[Requirement:]
Find the remaining soul and give it to Amber.

The moment the warnings flashed on his eyes, Y/N locked eyes on the General. "Stop the process!"

Ironwood immediately stopped after hearing Y/N's voice. He was lucky that he didn't press the last window to open up Amber's hatch. "What's wrong?"

"I just got the warnings from the {System}. And it's bad, really bad." There was a grave tone on his voice and that made them worry.

"What are they?" Ozpin will do whatever it takes, just to give Amber life.

"I can heal her, yes but... the moment I do, she'll continually lose her {HP} to the point that she won't survive in hours."

They all gasped as Ironwood canceled the programs and let it run alone.

"Then what do we do?" Qrow asked, feeling impatient by the second.

"The answer is clear." Y/N's eyes lit in a fiery silver hue.

"We kill Cinder Fall."
