Volume 3 {Chapter 12: Beginning of The End}

OK, so here's a little announcement for you all.

First off, thank you for reading this book. I wouldn't have made it this far without your help.

Secondly, I'm making another book set in the My Hero Academia. It'll be fun, trust me.

And lastly, after this chapter, This book will be finished.

Not actually finished, like I won't work on this story anymore but rather the book. I feel like this is a good way to sign it off as I've worked on this book for a year now and wanted to try something new, hence the MHA book.

Thanks for reading this and I hope you understand.

Beacon. The Crown of Vale. A school so prestigious, only the best of the best can join. It is here that students, humans and faunus alike, are teached by the academies' greatest teachers and have the best resources, services, and company anyone can ask for.

It is here that mere prodigal students turn into legendary Huntsman and Huntress, sent to fight Grimm and save the world. This was the ideal dream when a child hears the same story every night.

A Hero vanquishing the Darkness.

And oftentimes...

Reality is always... disappointing.

Dashing through the rubble and Grimm, Y/N ran with his remaining energy as he makes his way to Ozpin's tower. So many things have happened in the span of hours, which felt like days, and he felt like stopping and taking a giant nap. But he won't. He can't, not after what Ozpin had died for.

Getting to the tower was easy since it was only Beowulves and Ursa's running around, Y/N found the hole he smashed through in and fell to the vault.

Falling to the floor, Y/N looked around to find the Relic of Choice as he will not let Salem get her black hands on the relic and pervert it to her likings.

"I have to find Amber. She is the key to open the vault." Y/N remembered as he walked through the destroyed halls and lamps. He remembers that in each vault, there is a key needed to open its contents and those keys are the Maidens. Hopefully, by killing Cinder can Amber be healthy and she can open the vault for him.

After a few minutes, Y/N found the battlefield he and fought in with some ice and fire elements still here. But what caught his attention was further up ahead as though a large explosion happened.

"What... happened here?" Y/N went to the epicenter of the blast as he examined the scene. 'What made this explosion was very large. Large enough to leave residue and fire afterward... wait, I sense... magic...' Dread filled his heart as Y/N rushed to where Amber as his heart dropped in fear.

What was once state-of-the-art military technology was now reduced to ashes as the only thing that remained was the broken shape of a pod. "No... She's... Amber is... damn it."

Y/N kneeled in shock as the Fall Maiden was now killed and her burden is now passed along to a random female around Remnant. It would take months, or years to even find her across the world at max speed since Y/N had to question each and every female he could find and protect her from Salem. Not to mention that the Relic will eventually fall into Salem's hands if she has enough power.

Just as hope dwindled out of fear, Y/N felt something odd. It wasn't weird, just odd. When he checked himself, he saw that his left hand was glowing golden light. "What's this?"

As he picked himself up, a loud humming was heard across Amber's pod. Y/N looked at his glowing hand curiously as he walked towards the humming. The humming grew louder as Y/N walked closer, holding his hand outward. He felt a pull coming from his hand as though something wants whatever his hand is holding.

Soon, Y/N can across an intricately made door with lines all symmetrically lined up around it. "Is this... the Vault of the Relic?"

The door pulsed with power as Y/N felt the raw power of the relic through it. The glow on his hand intensified and blinded Y/N a bit before calming down. There, Y/N held the familiar golden spear gifted by the gods.

"Trismegistus? But why?" Y/N questioned as the staff glowed brightly in a godly golden aura.

The door answered as golden lights flooded the lines around it, lighting every part of the door with its magnificent glow. The door glowed so brightly that it just... disappeared.

Y/N widened his eyes as the glow lessened itself. "Did... you do that?" The staff glowed softly, as though answering his question. "Thanks."

Y/N let the staff disappear by itself as he walked through the large doorway. The room he was in was dark, enough that any natural light seemed to stick out like a thumb. He walked through the darkness, hoping to expect something.

And something did happen.

Light suddenly came alive as it formed a line above Y/N. It all leads to a corridor that Y/N followed, readying himself for what may come.

Soon, the lights glowed more brightly as the room was now easily more seen. The lights were actually candles held by candelabra, held by suits of armor that stood on pedestals. More lights were brought to life as the room showed more of itself.

It was actually a throne room. And there at the end, lies the throne made of solid gold. Y/N couldn't help but drop his jaw at the majestic throne before him. And there at the seat, lies a simple golden crown with an emerald jewel in front.

Y/N walked up towards the throne and picked up the crown and then, the {System} suddenly sprang to life.

*UPDATE*

You have found [Kither: Relic of Choice]!

[Relic of Choice: Kither] [X]

[Relic of Knowledge: Jinn] [ ]

[Relic of Creation: ???] [ ]

[Relic of Destruction: ???] [ ]

"So, this is the relic, huh?" Y/N inspected the crown with caution as it looked like an ordinary ornament with a jewel in front. "Better keep this safe though." Y/N then just put it in his {Inventory} and proceeded to get out.

Just as he got out of the throne, the candles were all snuffed out, leaving the room dark once more. Y/N tensed as a cold feeling went up to his spine and his hairs were sticking out of his neck.

"Ah. So you are the one that killed Cinder." A low womanly voice came from his behind as Y/N looked. It was a special Grimm, will a large clear globe as its head and tentacles below it. It released a thick purple cloud around it as it hovered in place. "I must say, to meet another individual that also wields magic is a surprise."

"Salem," Y/N spoke with venom in his words and hardened his eyes. "I knew you'd have spies everywhere but not in here."

"Oh, but I don't. I merely followed you after you opened that accursed door." Salem's voice echoed in the darkroom. "I expected Amber to be with you when you opened that door but imagine my surprise to see you hold a special relic of your own. You are more interesting than I thought."

"You'll never get your hands on those relics. Mark my words, I will drive this spear straight through your malicious, black heart." Y/N materialized Trismegistus on his left hand and pointed it straight at the Seer. "Then we'll see who's more surprised."

The seer only let out a loud and soft chuckle before it fell to the floor and a crack was made on the globe. Y/N only tightened his grip on the weapon before walking away.

The sound of a hospital monitor filled the room, with Jaune sitting nearby and holding a charred hand. He'd never leave her side, no matter what, as he patiently waited for his partner to wake up.

"Mr. Arc?"

He'd never fail her again. He will protect her.

"Mr. Arc?"

He will always be there, no matter what.

"Mr. Arc, are you there?"

Jaune's sense of reality kicked in as he heard a voice behind him. It was Pyrrah's doctor as he walked in the room with a checkboard. The doctor smiled with the intent of not harming him as he walked to his side.

"How is she, doc? Is she..." Jaune asked before his voice dying out as he looked at the charred face that is Pyrrha Nikos.

"She's fine, Jaune. While her body may sustain 3rd and 4th-degree burns, she'll live. Now that's a miracle if I ever saw one." The doctor explained as Jaune breathed a sigh of relief. "Your partner is lucky to have someone like you."

"Yeah... someone like me..." Jaune replied softly as he held her charred hand.

The doctor knew that the boy was clearly placing the blame on himself since he could see it in his face. It could pose a problem later on if he doesn't forgive himself but he doesn't know the boy much to help.

If only someone were to help the couple.

"Well, I better be off now. You take care now, son. You hear?" Jaune nodded as the doctor left, leaving them alone again.

A few days later~

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Silver eyes slowly opened themselves as a groan was heard. Ruby slowly picked herself up as she sat on her bed in Patch. She slowly looked around as Ruby noticed that she was in her room back home.

Ruby didn't move after she sat up as she attempted to piece together what happened before this. She didn't register her father sitting on a rocking chair near her.

Sleeping in the chair was Taiyand Xiao Long, the father of both Ruby and Yang. He was a tall man with a scruffy beard and had the natural color of blonde. He wears brown cargo shorts with a dark brown belt, black shoes, a red bandana on his left arm, and a brown leather vest over a tan dress shirt with the right sleeve cut off. For armor, he wears a metal spaulder, leather vambrace and a brown fingerless glove all on his right arm.

Tai was sleeping soundly until he slowly woke up as well, stretching a bit in his chair before rubbing his eyes. As he regained his vision, Tai saw Ruby sitting on the bed, alive and well.

"Ruby! You're awake!" Tai immediately gets out of his chair and kneeled next to Ruby's bed.

"Ugh, what happened?" Still disoriented, Ruby asked her father what happened after she blacked out.

"Your uncle Qrow found you, unconscious. He got you out of there, though, and brought you home safe." Tai explained, truly thanking Qrow for it.

Ruby lowered her head as she looked at her father before she remembers something else. "Wait? What about Yang?! Is she alright?!"

Tai bit his lip in hesitation as he didn't want her daughter to know what happened. But seeing her look this desperate... he couldn't lie. "Yang is... uh... she's alright. I think she just... she just needs some time to think and get used to things here. She's too strong to let this stop her."

Talking about his daughters made Tai tear up a bit as he covered his hands on his eyes. "I'm just... so glad to have my girls home safe."

Ruby smiled warmly at her dad's concern but she had pressing other pressing matters. "What happened to the school?! And Vale?! Were they able to clear out the Grimm?"

Now Tai could smile as the news just arrived. "Yes. They did. Atlas managed to repel every last Grimm that invaded Vale. Including Beacon. Looks like you did a number on that Grimm, you showed them, huh?"

Ruby tilted her head in confusion. "I... did what?"

"Hmmm?"

"You said I did a number on that Grimm. What do you mean?"

Tai couldn't bring the words to his mouth as he can't possibly explain what her daughter did. "I... uh... how do I explain this..."

"She killed the Grimm, Tai. How difficult is that?" The gruff voice of Qrow alerted the occupants as he took a swig of booze from his flask. "Could I have a minute?"

"What, I can't talk to my own daughter?!" Tai's voice was filled with momentary rage as he stood up from Ruby's bed.

"Tai, please... She needs to know." Qrow pleaded.

Taiyang only let out a sigh as he kissed Ruby's forehead. "I'm glad you're okay. I'll go make us some tea." He left the room, on his way to the kitchen.

Qrow took a nearby chair and sat near Ruby, holding one of his legs above the other. "So, how are you feeling?"

"Emotionally or physically?" Ruby joked as Qrow let out a small smile before frowning again. "Um... I'm kind of hurt... all over."

"Heh, that's to be expected after what you did."

Getting frustrated, Ruby raises her voice. "You guys keep saying that! That I did something! What are you talking about?!"

Now sensing that she doesn't remember, Qrow leaned forward and crosses his fingers. "What's the last thing you remember?"

Ruby's face pained as she tried to remember. "I ran up to the side of the tower, and when I got to the top I..." Suddenly gasping, Ruby looked at Qrow with pleading eyes. "Y/N! Is he...?"

"He's alright." Ruby let out a sigh of relief and all tense left her body.

"I got to the top and saw Y/N facing off the giant Grimm. After that, everything went white." Ruby finished her story as she looked at Qrow. "Where's Y/N? Why isn't he here with us?"

Qrow looked down as he didn't want to answer that. "Let's just say, it's complicated. What else do you remember?"

" I remember my head hurting..."

Qrow took a deep breath as he prepared himself. "The night you met Ozpin. What was the first thing he said to you?"

Ruby racked her brain as she tried to remember. "I... I don't know. I think it was something about-"

"Silver eyes." Qrow finished her. "That's an extremely rare trait."

"So?"

"... You're special, Ruby." Qrow had enough of this and decided to tell Ruby outright. "And not in the 'Daddy loves his special angel'  kind of way. You're special the same way was. full of legends and stories, some of them true, some made up. But there's one Oz told me from a very long time ago. Back before, before Kingdoms, it was said that those born with silver eyes were destined to lead the life of a warrior. You see, the creatures of Grimm, the most fearsome monsters mankind had ever encountered, were afraid of those silver-eyed warriors. They were the best of the best. It was said that even a single look from one of these fighters could strike a Grimm down. Heh. It's a ridiculous story."

"But... you think I might be..."

"Well. A giant frozen dead Grimm is lying on the grounds of Beacon. And you're here, safe and sound." Qrow got up from his chair and looked out the window.

Ruby was slightly amazed that she was a special someone but something didn't stick right with her. "Wait, wait, how did you know what Ozpin said to me... the night we met?"

"..." Qrow was silent on whether or not to tell her. But considering what she went through and her role in this, she deserved it. "All those missions I go on... all the times I'm away in some far-off place... it's been for Ozpin. But he's missing now. Something's been set in motion. With Oz gone, I'll have to pick up where he left off."

"Then what can I do? If I'm so special, then I can help, right?" Ruby asked with a smile as she wanted to save more people.

Qrow lightly laughs as he heads to the door. "You wanna help? Get some rest. You're in no condition to help right now." Qrow suddenly stops as he heads back to Ruby. "Wait, almost forgot. Y/N wanted to give you this."

Qrow handed Ruby a small, long box as she inspected it. "What's inside?"

"I dunno. See ya, squirt." With that, Qrow left the room.

Ruby raised her eyebrow as she opened the box with ease. She widened her eyes as it was a slim mechanical glove with a few Dust crystals inside. "What is this?"

She grabbed the glove and slipped it on her left arm. It fits perfectly and was comfortable to wear. But it didn't make sense why Y/N would give her something like this. Ruby checked the box for something else and found a piece of paper attached to the side.

"A note?"

What she read made her widen her eyes.

(Dear Ruby,

If you're wondering about the glove, it's a gift for your birthday. Yang told me that a few weeks ago.

So... Happy Birthday Ruby. The glove was based on my own glove, Creed. And like Creed, it can use dust as special attacks and shields like what you saw at my fight in the Vytal Festival. I asked Professor Peach to help me since this was a unique weapon and that it has to be made for you.

So I hope you like it.

From, Y/N)

Ruby had to hold back some tears as she looked at the glove with a smile. "I do." She looked back at the note and saw something further down.

(P.S If you want to learn more about my whereabouts, ask Qrow. )

That made Ruby frown a bit but she can ask later. Right now, she needs to find her sister.

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Yang sat idly at her room as she looked out the window, with the sun rising over the trees. Her weapon, Ember Celica, lay beside her but only one of them remained. The other...

Her door opened as Ruby went inside. She took off her glove as she didn't need it and wanted to comfort her sister. "Yang?"

The blonde looked at Ruby with a smile as that broke the waterfall on both their eyes. Ruby hugged her sister as tight as possible and vice versa. So many things happened and so many thoughts about crying over a dead relative.

"I'm... so glad you're alright," Ruby said, chock full of tears. Yang held back her tears and just hugged her sister.

"Yeah..." Yang softly replied.

After some time, Ruby sat on a chair near Yang. She wiped her eyes with tissues as there were some tears and snot ever-present.

"How are you feeling?"

"Honestly..." Yang looked at her severed arm as bandages covered her stump. "I can still feel like it's still there. Like, a ghost of my arm still present. It feels... weird."

Ruby frowned as guilt would make itself present when she looked at the stump. "How's... everyone?"

Yang sighed as she tried to recollect her emotions and memories. "I'm... not sure. Dad told me that everyone left to their home kingdom and that Vale was on lockdown while they repair the wall."

"So, that means Weiss and Blake?" Yang nodded as she explained.

"When we were all escaping, Weiss' father came and took her back. To Atlas, where it was safe. And Blake..." Yang's head dipped as she tried to bite back the anger slowly fill her heart.

"What about Blake?"

"Blake... she ran." Ruby widens her eyes in shock as Yang now raised her voice louder. "She ran and didn't tell us! After we got to the city, Blake ran! Sun saw her and ran as well!"

"I'm sure there's a reason that-"

"No, there doesn't! Sometimes bad things just happen, Ruby!"

Silence was now present as Yang wept to herself on what became of her partner. After all that time spent in Beacon, constantly trying to be a good friend for Blake and this is how she repays her?

"So what do we do now?" Ruby asked Yang as she doesn't know what to do next.

"You can do whatever you want. I'm just gonna lie here in bed." Yang slowly lies in bed with her sheets covering herself.

"Yang..."

"Leave me alone, Ruby."

Ruby looks down in thought and stood up. Before she exits the room, Ruby looked back at Yang. "I love you." Before closing the door.

Walking down the stairs, Ruby saw Qrow lounging on the couch with the TV turned on. It was the local news showing the events of Beacon and Vale as reporter Lisa comes live.

{This is Lisa Lavender, coming to you live in Vale. Here, we see the massive hole in the city's walls as Atlas and Vale attempt to repair it. Several have claimed that it will take more than 2 months to be fully fixed so there's some hope there. The Council has voted that local Huntsmen and Huntresses return or come to Vale and protect it from Grimm. The Council has also agreed to pay a reward for the 2 months of guarding Vale with a large amount of cash. We now bring you to-}

"Uncle Qrow?" Ruby called out to him as Qrow stopped watching. "Where's Y/N?"

Qrow sighed as he turned off the TV before looking at his niece. "Kid, I already told you that it's complicated-"

"I don't care!" Ruby stopped Qrow from explaining further as she screamed. "I don't care about any of that! I just want to know.... where is he?"

"..." Qrow looked down in thought as he looked at Ruby, already to fight till death. Qrow wanted to, more than anything, not tell Ruby of what lies in other kingdoms as he didn't want her to be killed like her mother. He truly wanted to.

But... seeing her like this. And after what she just said...

"... He's in Haven."

"Why?"

Qrow looked out the door as he hardened his eyes. "Completing the mission."

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Several months go by and it was snowing. Ruby slowly closed the door behind her as she held her backpack close.

Behind her, Jaune was there with his bag packed as well.

"Hey, Jaune. Haven's a long way to go from here."

"I know. But it's the only way we have. Besides, Y/N's there."

"Are you sure you want to come along? What about Pyrrha?" The mention of her name soured Jaune's face but he has comes to terms with her fate.

"Pyrrha's fine. Her family came and went back home. And I don't want to be burdened by her again." Jaune gripped his bag tighter as he promised to be stronger.

"The journey will be perilous. And whether we'll find the answers we seek in unknown." Ren said as he also had a travel bag.

"But we wouldn't be here if we weren't up for it." Nora chipped in, energetic as ever.

With everyone ready, Ruby made the final decision. "Then let's go."

Somewhere, in Anima

The trees were filled with powdery-white snow, with the ground covered in a layer of snow. For a moment, time stood still as nature was silent upon winter's breath.

Then, a trot was heard deep in the woods as a large horse ran through the snowy wonderland. With each clop of its hooves, the snow melted and left a fiery trail behind. The horse heaved and bellowed but showed no sign of stopping as it continued to run through the forest.

On its back was Y/N, eyes dead set on the path ahead as he looked at his left hand. "I promise to get revenge Ozpin. I swear it." Y/N clenched his hand hard as he commanded Ruin to run faster. "Yah! Yah!"

The War Horse bellowed out a whine before suddenly running faster than ever, leaving a fiery path in its wake.

And that's that folks. That's the end of this story and Volumes 1 to 3 of the RWBY timeline.

Thank you all for this journey I made as I study in college now.

Stay safe and I'll see you later.

Peace!
