Tyrion Lannister- Motives (h)

You had convinced yourself a long time ago that no one would ever show any interest towards you, and if they did then you often thought that they had ulterior motives.

It was hard for you to ever accept someone as a true friend but over the years you had found a few. And in those years, you had also found it hard to accept someone in a relationship.

Until Tyrion that was, Tyrion had been everything you hadn't expected him to be. When you'd first met him, you believed the rumours about him, you believed what everyone said however you had wanted to get to know him.

He had surprisingly been caring towards you, he had made every effort to ensure that you were well, and you were looked after. You visited his rooms often enough that you knew your way around like the back of your hand, however it had never occurred to you that Tyrion had any genuine interesting you.

"Tyrion?" you questioned from your spot where you were reading.

Tyrion looked up at you from the table where he had been working. "Yes, dear one?"

Taking a deep breath, you asked him what had been going through your mind. "Why are you like this with me? No one has ever spoken of you the way you are towards me; it is confusing."

Sighing, Tyrion got up from where he was sitting and made his way over to you. "Why are you concerned?"

"Because I am unable to figure out your motives Tyrion, I am unable to find any answers as to why you act how you do with me."

Confusion crossed Tyrion's face. "Why must it be for anything other than my feelings towards you?"

Scoffing, you shook your head. "That is not possible."

"Why is it not possible dear one?" he questioned, reaching out to place his hand over yours. "I can assure you that me having any feelings towards you is possible."

"People always have ulterior motives Tyrion," you stated with finality. "You are no different."

Tyrion sat silent for a few moments which unnerved you, perhaps you have overstepped your bounds by being so honest with him – his station was far above yours, and he had the power to do much worse to you.

"I apologise," you spoke quietly. "I should not have overstepped."

Tyrion shook his head, gently squeezing your hand. "You overstepped nothing dear one," he reassured you.

You nodded in acknowledgement, intending to go back to your book but Tyrion's hand on your cheek stopped you.

"May I kiss you?" he questioned gently. "So, I am able to prove my lack of ulterior motives."
