Petyr Baelish- Appreciate (c)
Travelling across Westeros was never a fun thing to do, especially when it was to gather intel and retrieve information to assist someone who you didn't care for. It was just for the best to not question what you were asked to do, or you would end up far worse off. Littlefinger wasn't a pleasant man and worked for some of the most powerful people in Westeros. For now you were on his good side and did as you were told but you knew that if you tried anything, you'd either end up killed or having every dark secret you possessed taken out into the light.
You had spent months travelling to gather some files from someone on the other side of the continent and of course, he couldn't go to retrieve it himself. More than once your life had been in danger but now you needed to finish what you started and make it clear your life had worth, not just to him to manipulate and use for his own personal gain.
As you approached him, he didn't look up from what he was reading, likely something he had received on someone else. You slammed the papers down onto the table between you before putting your hands down with it.
"Baelish," you hissed. "You didn't tell me what I'd have to do to get this. I nearly got killed."
"And that's why I pay you," he stated, handing you the pouch of coins.
You opened it but didn't see what you wanted to so hit it onto the table too.
"I deserve double. I had to escape a jail house whilst they discussed removing my head," you frowned. "You must have known how well guarded these papers were or you wouldn't have sent me."
He rolled his eyes at you, handing you a smaller pouch as well. "That's all I will pay."
You knew that you weren't going to get any more out of him so took both pouches, glad to get a better pay than you had been promised.
"I'm not disposable," you stated. "I'm not doing this again and you could tell whoever you want whatever you want but I am worth more than this crap."
As you went to turn to leave, he leant across the table, grabbing your hand, forcing your attention back onto him.
"I never say it... but I do appreciate it," he said softly, his expression sincere.
"Is that the best I get?" You questioned. "Although for you that's basically you getting on your knees and pleading me to stay."
"Don't make me regret this but I would like you to continue working for me. You are one of the best," he said without much expression.
You nodded your head. "But you are going to tell me what I'm going against from now on. I want to know if I'm risking my arse."
