Jaime Lannister- Hidden (c)

Getting a job as a servant at Kings Landing seemed to be your ticket to a better life. You were still poor and living in terrible conditions, but it was a far more prestigious job than working out in your village or elsewhere as you were working directly for the royal family. When you received your job, you never knew truly how much of a step up it was to you until you accidentally bumped into Ser Jaime Lannister one day. You half expected to be sent for punishment for being distracted enough to bump into him, but he was kind and apologised to you as he steadied you, stopping you from tumbling over.

It was the start of everything. You started meeting up in secret to share a moment together until you were secretly courting one another, not that either of you wanted word of it to come out, at least not yet. You had set times that you'd sneak off to meet him but after months of happiness, sneaking around Kings Landing, Jaime started to miss your meetings and if he did turn up, he seemed distant and withdrawn.

You tried not to think too much into it at first. Maybe he was busy or distracted but as the behaviour prolonged, you couldn't help but take it personally. For the past couple of days, he hadn't even arrived at your normal meetings so when he arrived this time to the isolated room that you were meant to meet in, you decided to question what was going on.

"Have I done something wrong?" You asked.

He looked up at you, a confused expression on his face. "No. Of course not."

"Then why have I barely seen you recently, and when you do decide to turn up, you don't talk to me and you seem to struggle to even look me in the eye," you frowned.

"No, I haven't," he stated.

You cocked an eyebrow at him, letting out a huff of annoyance.

"So, I haven't been waiting for you on so many days to just be left alone, and when I get a chance to see you, you treat me as lesser than you. I may be of little significance to you, I may be no more than a servant, but I deserve better than you lying to my face," you frowned. "I believed we were happy, I believed that we may have a future but you clearly you feel nothing for me."

Something snapped in him. His expression became that of pain, of the hurt your words gave but more from his own actions and how they had made you feel.

"I think I'm in love with you, and that scares the shit out of me."

"What?"

You didn't expect that. You expected him to tell you he was done running around with you, that he no longer wished to be with you, not that he was in love with you.

"I was trying to find a way that we could be happy together for us to not have to hide. I want to be with you Y/N, and I don't want to be sneaking around but I am aware that it isn't safe for us to be publicly together, but I promise you that I will find a way for that to happen. I was just so busy thinking of how we could do that that I didn't realise I was neglecting you."

You couldn't help but smile softly at him, pleased with how the conversation had turned compared to how you had anticipated it would go.

"I love you, Jaime," you said softly, reaching out to take his hand. "I cannot wait until the day that we do not need to hide, but until then I am glad to just be with you when we can."

"I love you too, and I promise you we will be together until our dying breaths."
