Jaime Lannister- Betrothed: Part 1 (c)
Finding a travelling partner was lucky but finding one that was now your betrothed was something you could have never imagined. You had met Jaime Lannister in the Riverlands, having gotten along and knew that you were both to head to King's Landing, so he offered to accompany you. It was unseemly for a woman, especially a woman of status to travel alone but with your travelling companions having been killed in an attack, you felt only lucky to still be alive not to keep your status in thought.
As there was near to a months worth of travelling on horseback for someone whom had never ridden a horse for more than an hour at a time, you had gotten to know each other well. Although you didn't have too much in common, you were both of high status and weren't overly content in the lives you lived and having someone else who understood the situation was nice. Every night when you made camp, you spent hours talking about life and getting to know each other, getting along as though you were old friends rather than practically strangers. It was almost disheartening when you reached King's Landing as your time alone was ruined.
The first course of action was to take you to his father, the person whom you had planned to visit even if your journey had ended up far longer than originally planned. Jaime led you to the room in which his father occupied, leaving the three of you alone.
Tywin Lannister was obviously a nobleman, lavishly dressed in his house colours and a stern expression that you had come to learn was common with wealth.
"Son," he said, his expression not faltering. "Who is your friend?"
Before Jaime could say anything, you held out a hand to the man before you.
"My apologies, my Lord," you said. "Lady Y/N of House Y/S/N."
He took your hand, raising it to his lips.
"I sent word to your father. Your arrival was expected weeks past," he stated. "And I would certainly not claim a Lady stood before me."
"I must apologise my Lord," you said calmly. "We were ambushed to the north of where I met your son. All my men were killed along with my handmaiden. I escaped to a nearby village and lost all my belongings, so luckily a barmaid could give me a dress, or I would have had to have travelled in my ripped frock or with no modesty. The gods must have been looking upon me though as I met your son in a tavern, and he offered to assist me on my way here. My father promised you that I would attend a meeting with you, and I am not a woman whom will break a promise."
"I am sorry for your troublesome journey. I shall have servants gather you some clothing and supplies and I will have another rider sent out to send your father word of your safe arrival. Did he mention why you were to come to King's Landing?"
You shook your head. Your father had insisted it was important but never told you what it was. Even though you did speak your mind far more than that of the normal woman, sometimes you knew when it was best to not question your father.
"Well it was rather apt you met my son on your travels," he chuckled. "As you are here to marry him."
Jaime and you looked at each other, rather baffled by the revelation before looking back to his father.
"What?"
