Eddard Stark- Prove Yourself: Part 2 (c)

Your heart was set on returning with something to prove your ability to hunt, to prove that you were as good as Robb and secretly hoping you would be better than him. You didn't care if you returned with a stag's head or a mere fowl, anything that you could prove was more than anything you could hope.

Sadly, no such thing could happen. You had been too caught up in your hopes to prove yourself that when you actually faced a deer, you didn't care for safety. Everything moved so quickly that Robb could merely only lay witness to the scene as it played out. You had prepared to shoot the deer with your arrow, not seeing the stag appear from the trees. It rushed towards you, scraping its antler against your abdomen, forcing a scream out of you as you were forced to the floor. Both creatures fled the scene, leaving you on your knees, your bow discarded into the grass.

You grasped your side, moving a hand to see it covered in a layer of red. Although pain was overwhelming you all you could think of was being told off by your father- maybe death would be a kinder fate.

"Robb," you croaked, your throat becoming dry in your fear.

He had stood frozen but at hearing his name, he rushed to your side, crouching by your side.

"We need to get you back to Maester Luwin," he stated, not knowing how to help you here but also not knowing the best way to return you.

It was a stupid idea to take you into the forest alone but you had come up with your idea so quickly that you didn't offer him any chance to voice his opinion and knowing if he refused to take you, you would leave on your own.

"I'm sorry," you whispered. "Do not tell father I said that though."

"He is going to have your head," Robb frowned. "You shall no longer be the favourite."

You rolled your eyes at him, knowing it wasn't the time for his jokes, but he knew once you returned home, your parents wouldn't allow him a chance to joke or reprimand you.

"Let me get you on your feet and to my horse," he sighed.

He wrapped an arm around you, pulling you back up to your feet, doing his best to not be affected by your pained screams. By the time he had gotten you onto his horse, the overwhelming pain and blood lost had become too much; the last thing you heard was your brother shouting your name before you fell into darkness.
